Refused to honor appointments made using their own system. After being a client for over a year, I booked on their online system for another appointment, but they refused to honor my appointment. They refused to honor appointments made on their own system. The staff showed no regard for myself as a long standing client. Other clients were in the store at the same time with the same exact issue. Their scheduling system had clearly failed and they simply said, "The system didn't register you." There was no argument, I simply left. But as I was exiting the door, the barber said a derogatory statement which he thought I could not hear. No humanity. Zero customer service. Total lack of respect to their own clients. If you respect yourself don't deal with this degrading atmosphere. read more

My "significant other"has been loyal to his barber for more than 35 years.Even while living more than 100 miles away, he still drove to his hair appointments regularly. Walking into the store can start out as intimidating. If I'm being honest my first time inside I was a little hesitant but as soon as I had second to think I was greeted and asked if I had an appointment. Of course I did, I then proceeded to sit down and take in the modern atmosphere. The shop has an incredible reclaimed wood wall on the right hand side by the mirrors with a mix of industrial style counters that they lay their tools on. The music is a mixture of either hip hop, rock, 90's rap, and sometimes ESPN sports highlights which for me is a win either way. The couches are more than comfortable but you won't even notice because you're to busy enjoying the banter of the staff. All the team members always look happy and excited to work. You can clearly see how passionate they all are by how thoughtful they make each cut. I've had the opportunity to meet each one of them and I can tell barbering is in their blood. I've jumped around quite a few shops but I can honestly say this is a place that truly makes me feel confident when I walk out. A place where I can strike a conversation or join one. I never feel rushed or feel a lack of quality even though their service is quick. I know they care more for how my hair looks than I do. It's really hard to find that level of attention to detail these days. I highly recommend you make an appointment for a nice haircut and request a wash! After coming home from college, I was nervous to find a new barbershop so I put off getting a haircut. Finally, I took the plunge and found this place. I did some research and saw they were highly rated and were taking a lot of COVID precautions so I felt comfortable booking a haircut. It was super easy to use their online booking system and I was able to set up an appointment the same day. My appointment was with Drew and when I got to the chair, he asked me several questions about my hair. He took the time and energy to understand what I like and dislike. Original Sharp is one of the cleanest barbershops I've ever been to. The ambiance of this shop is chill. And the black and white minimal theme they have going on is really nice. Walk ins are welcome but their online appointments are easy to manage too. - I usually use their online appointment website because their barbers get booked. I'm worried about posting how amazing this shop is. I'm not sure if the barbers want to be the place to be for kid's haircuts in Soma/Millburn but they should be! Mikey and Lou did an outstanding job cutting my almost 6year old and 7 year old's hair. Both of my boys had hair long past their shoulders (moved from Cali) and wanted "hipster haircuts". Both barbers listened to what we and more importantly what my sons wanted and the boys ended with much cooler cuts than I have ever had. We took my 3 year old here for a "real" haircut and couldn't be happier. I was a little nervous not taking him to an actual kids place but it was a welcoming -- and still cool -- environment. No firetruck chairs or bright colors. But they did have a special seat just for kids his size. This place is great. My first time was today and I just went for a beard trim. I'm new to beards and they were really helpful in giving me tips and tricks. I walked in not knowing what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised but the laid back atmosphere. It's a guys place. I had Lou and he was great. All the guys seemed really cool. I walked out of there feeling clean and fresh. They can do everything from a hair cut to a clean shave with the hot towels. I'd definitely recommend this place. For me is a bit more of a treat to myself since I shave my own head but now I'm growing my beard, when it gets scruffy I'll treat myself to a beard trim or classic shave. read more

The place is always clean, and has this modern black steel look to it with wooden accents. The guys here are awesome. I've had Jhonny cut my hair each time and every time is better than the last. I've been overdue for writing a review for this place. I've been going here for haircuts and an occasional shave since they opened and have been going to Drew (co owner) for haircuts for several years prior to them opening. Drew is dedicated to excellence in his craft and I knew right away when he decided to partner and open his own place it was going to be a success. When he left the place that was closer to my house I was bummed but decided for the quality it was worth going where he was to get a great haircut. I've seen the new place go from nearly empty when I was there to nearly always being packed with all chairs running at full speed. One of the many things I appreciate at Original Sharp and frankly anywhere where Drew cut my hair is there is never a rush. He always makes sure he catches every detail. No cutting corners to get more people through. Today I got my haircut by Jhon another barber at Original Sharp because I didn't plan ahead far enough and Drew was fully booked. Lesson learned and a sigh of the quality work I think. Regardless of this though Drew made sure Jhon knew how I liked my haircuts and he did a great job. I can't recommend enough for people to try this place out. It is worth the drive if your not local. And if Drew and Khalil are booked try out Jhon he has clearly learned from the best. I used to love in Dunellen, NJ a few years back. That was where I was first introduced to Khalil Malamug, probably the first guy to cut my hair when I went to the In The Cut barbershop around the corner from my house. Always in very good spirits, I fell in love with the way Khalil would not only cut my hair, but also make me feel like the most important client of his day. At that time, he was just a barber with a steady clientele. Fast forward several years and glow ups later, Khalil is now the owner of three parlors, and just yesterday gave me my first cut since I moved out of Dunellen. As always, his positive energy was infectious and I received one of the greatest cuts I've ever gotten. I know that it's near sacrilege to cheat on a barber, as ever since I moved to Irvington, I'd been going to my regular guy that's close to my house. But once I found out that Khalil had his new shop in Millburn, I knew it was time to check him out. The place is immaculate! Visually stunning atmosphere. A row of barbers in uniform, clients happily waiting their turn. I hardly write reviews, but I need to speak my mind about Original Sharp because they know what they are doing. I first met Drew, left, and came back to Drew and the guys at Original Sharp again. Here's why: 1. Their cuts are high quality. The clippers they use are premium grade and the shears they use are of much better quality than a lot of barbers out there. The reason why I make this point is because I have very sensitive skin and this is very important to me. The way my hair feels and looks after getting a fade, buzz, cut, or a combination is a lot better than anyone else I have ever been to. 2. They are adaptable to any hair style you want. I've pulled off a few hair styles over the years from a slicked back look, high fade combovers, and currently, a textured forward quiff. When I wanted to change hairstyles, I went to Drew since he along with the other barbers at Original Sharp are able to make it happen. Drew in particular at times during my cuts stopped to ask me whether I wanted the back squared, whether I wanted the sides to have a skin fade or tapered, etc. He doesn't just assume anything, which is awesome. 3. The hair products they use are of much higher quality. Currently, the shop has a lot of Hanz de Fuko products (Claymation, Scheme Creme, etc.) which are premium. A lot of other barbers and stylists that I see often stick to cheaper products which have a lot more chemicals that can be damaging to your hair as opposed to higher quality products that have more natural ingredients. Overall, it's a great laid back vibe full of barbers who pay attention to details. Give them a shot. I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

I told my husband about this barbershop that opened up in Millburn recently and we finally went there this past weekend. I've never seen his haircut any better. The staff at the shop is very friendly, professional and paid attention to every detail. I can see why they are highly rated online. Heard there's a new barbershop in town and went to check it out. I was extremely impressed with the decor and the ambience is unmatched. I was even more impressed with the service and the cut. They even have a hot towel and wash treatment which I've never gotten cause most barbershops I've gone to don't offer it. I've been going to the same salon for the past decade. Decided it was time for something different. On a whim, I called to see if I could get in as I was in town. Very glad I did. As a walk-in they took me pretty quickly. I got Mikey. Mikey knows his cuts. Best cut I've hand in years. He totally understood what I was looking for and delivered. Lou has been cutting my hair for over a year and he's extremely talented at his craft and detail oriented. Anytime I ask for a slight tweak to my haircut, Lou listens and accommodates and I end up leaving with exactly what I want. Khalil has also cut my hair and is highly recommended. Original Sharp uses high end Dyson blowdryers and top styling products. The shop is hip and runs efficiently. The online booking system is easy to use. (2) Location - coming from Jersey City, it takes about 20 min to get into Millburn via I-78.
