Really great experience. I've been playing piano for 30 years. I walked in, played as many pianos as I wanted in their spacious, acoustically good showroom. There are so many beautiful pianos there! The sales people were respectful- they left me alone until I wanted help. I liked the no pressure sales. They were full of information when I requested it. I ended up buying a YAMAHA NU1 and I have had it a month now. I LOVE this piano. I highly recommend this dealer over any other dealer in Denver. The quality of the Yamaha digital hybrid line is just so far and away better than any other- Roland, Kawai, etc, that it made my decision that much easier. Should I ever invest in a newer model, they have a trade up program for two years after purchase for the same $ as I spent! That's over $5000. Wow. Only cons of the place: the bathroom is really small and strange and the workshop area is also a break room with the smell of a cafeteria. We feel the we got a good value for what we were looking for. I helped to know our ear and skill level to assist the knowledgeable staff find the right piano. There is a wide selection from studio verticals for beginners and students to high-end concert grand pianos. I perform in a chorus with professional orchestras, and have a good ear for quality music. I am a beginning piano student, and my wife is more advanced. We have become accustomed to the sound of a baby grand and the resonant acoustics at our main residence. We have limited space in our second home so an upright suited our space. We spent an hour or so with Don West going over the options, listening to the quality of the sound and appearance of many pianos. Working around the usual sales approach for upsetting and name-dropping of well-known brands, we remained focussed on our needs and came up with a beautiful upright Schimmel with beautiful sound and appearance. We appreciated having staff who understood music, and worked patiently to our observations and sensitivities without the hard-sell I have heard of. I recommend going in knowing what you need, and your price range. We got an excellent used piano. The location on S. Broadway is easy to find than most other businesses in this light-industrial area. I had questions in passing for other staff who were not in on the sales commission and they answered courteously and showed a general love of music. I enjoyed toggling the high-end concert grands. Among their used pianos I saw none of the old honky-tonk pianos that rode across the Great Plains on a covered wagon then got shot a couple times. This felt a bit like buying an automobile without the flip-flam. They let you open the hood, kick the wheels, take it for a test drive without hovering or hectoring. My magnificent husband purchased a BABY GRAND PIANO for me as a SURPRISE gift for our 25th Anniversary! Bob Baker is incredibly knowledgeable, he played different pianos over the phone so hubby could hear their unique sound (because we live 3-1/2 hours from Denver). We love our piano! When we went to classic pianos to look around, we were helped by a very friendly and not pushy gentlemen. He did not seem concerned with promoting anything and did not pressure my wife or me at all. We were very happy with the sales experience at Classic Pianos. We set a delivery date for 7 days later as the piano we chose needed some work done. We received a call a few days later asking if we could push the delivery back an extra week. I asked to cancel the order and was told they would call me back. I did not receive a call back after a few days, so I called and asked to speak to Don. Don told me he didn't know what the issue was, but the piano would be delivered on time. The piano is great (we bought it 2 months ago). Our family had been looking for a while for a Baldwin M Artist Grand and happened to find a 1998 in excellent condition at Classic Pianos. We drove to the store so my children could all try it out. I appreciated that Don, the salesman we worked with, gave us ample time and space to play and discuss matters privately, and put absolutely no pressure on us. He was wonderful in answering all of our questions regarding the history of the piano. The piano had a few scratches on the front plate from fingernails. However, Bob assured me they would all be buffed out before delivery. The piano arrived just a few days later (by very professional movers third party movers) and the piano looked absolutely beautiful!
