Warning! Horribly disorganized, studio is a hot mess and owner is defensive when you inquire about progress of items. Paid for a private party and had a surprise when we got there in having another person attend. Amanda asked if it was okay if that person stays (right in front of the other person) I'm sure knowing we wouldn't say no! Promised partial refund which we never received. Making of the pottery was great and we enjoyed the class itself. Amanda was engaging and a good teacher. However, everything else was horrible. Showed for glazing and some of our pieces were missing and had limited guidance by her 15 year old assistant who was with us for all of 15 minutes, none from Amanda other than her yelling down to say "how you guys doing" and she continued to teach her next class. Kindly inquired about our refund and missing items and Amanda got very defensive and she accepts no responsibility or fault. Decided we didn't want to have anything to do with her any further and told her we didn't want our items. read more

I have taken a couple of classes at this studio & hands down the best support. The last class I did I took on a 3D stained glass hummingbird ... mind you, it was the second time in my life making a stained glass piece. Without the support of Autumn I would have never been able to take on the piece. My piece extended beyond the allocated time of the class & she never pressured me to finish up. We took a pottery class for a family of three and all was well. However, we had to wait until our pottery was baked so we could return to paint it, which is okay. We waited until it was ready and created time out of our schedules for us to come in and paint it, and we called the studio over ten times and no answer every single time. We texted, emailed, left a voice mail, and no answer or explanation. Our pottery is most definitely gone, and my daughters are sad they never got to paint their items. Not sure what the deal is, but pretty unacceptable for a business to never reply or answer literally any forms of communication with their customers. It's just upsetting. It is also weird the owner called us telling us the pottery was ready, but never bothered to help us set up a time to come in a finish our products. read more

My sis and I were talking about trying out pottery and Clay Owen studios has been around for awhile so we looked it up. We found a great deal on a pottery sip and spin class. It was $75 pp and you can make 3-5 pieces of pottery with 0 experience. It is harder than it looks, but Autumn was very helpful and chill. I highly recommend coming and taking a class here. They also sell unfinished pottery that you can glaze, or delightfully finished cups, mugs, spoon rests and even pipes. read more

I took a stained glass class with Autumn. She's so talented, and was very patient. I was pleased that this wasn't a typical learning class - rather than instructing to the group, she spent one on one time with everyone, and was able to tailor her level of instruction to each person, from complete beginner to experienced artists. She offered help, and also respected people's wishes if they wanted to do it themselves. She was respectful of everyone's level of artistic prowess, and really let us individualize our work. She was never critical, and didn't get frustrated at all. Everyone, including Autumn, seemed to really enjoy the evening! Clearly she loves what she does. This is probably my most favorite date thus far with my husband. We took the introductory wheel thrown pottery class. Our instructor, Autumn, was very helpful and created a relaxed environment. She really encourages you to be creative and it's amazing watching a lump of clay transform into something recognizable. You get to decide what you make. It's your creation. We made a bowl, small plate and two cups. Another lady in class made what looked like a saki bottle and a vase. We get to go back to paint and fire our pieces. I can't wait to see how they turn out! It is definitely not a child friendly environment. There are creations drying everywhere along with machine pedals, cords and too many mind blowing things that even the most behaved child couldn't resist exploring or touching. (I would be devastated if I were informed our projects got broken. It's more than pottery, it's a tangible form of a cherished memory my spouse and I shared) This would be a great date night, teen/parent bonding, girls or guys group activity. I went with the expectation of checking something off of my bucket list. I left with a desire to learn more and a newly awoken spark of creativity. Messy but FUN. Several friends expressed interest in participating after I posted our pics so I think next time will be a group. Wear something comfy that you don't mind getting dirty! I had purchased a stained art class and ornament glass but had to cancel she was amazing helping to reschedule and give ideas so not out the money. What a wonderful place! My husband and I found this place on Groupon and we are thrilled. We have done a stained glass class and also a pottery class so far. Be prepared for cluttered, close quarters, which is expected for this young, entrepreneur (Autumn) that teaches many different types of art and all on her own. She gets a significant amount of business and can at times have several classes going on. This results in her having to bounce back and forth with students and instructing them at times. She does an amazing job for running this establishment all on her own. If you feel like you need more instruction, just ask her. She is incredibly kind and patient and more than willing to spend more time with a student in need of more instruction. Loved it! My sister and I bought a Groupon for the stained glass moose class and it turned out awesome. Stained glass is not easy but help was always available. The glass colors are gorgeous and the design is pretty great. My sister and I spent some quality time together and each came out with a moose. Better results then last hunting season. Took a groupon pottery class a few years ago when it was downtown and Iwas very impressed though I didn't like the location.. Finally a rare moment of free time in my schedule and I signed up for a month membership and will sign up for more. I've watched the stained glass classes and they're doing some great pieces! Autumn is a wonderfully talented young lady. She is obviously very talented in many ways. However, I think she needs some help running a business. She is incredibly hard to get a hold of. Her "classes" were oddly uninstructed, and her studio seemed disorganized. After we waited 30 minutes for her to find my friend's pot (10 min of which she spent looking, 20 of which she was talking to someone who didn't appear to be a customer) she said the bowl didn't make it through firing. More than half of our pots "didn't make it" but she didn't tell us that until she looked and couldn't find them. Autumn has lots of great supplies and equipment, but she is selling a class in which students should be "learning" but receive little instruction. She clearly has a lot on her plate but I thought that since we had a scheduled session, she would be with us the entire time teaching us what to do. Each person in my group got a couple sporadic minutes of teaching time while Autumn was usually running around working on other things with people who did not have a scheduled session. I was not happy with the service provided, which I don't like saying because Autumn herself was so friendly and so talented. read more

I just finished taking a stained glass class for the second time. I love coming here. THE SPACE: It isn't pretentious, it's a working art studio. It isn't a sterile classroom, it's a little messy just like any true artists' space is. THE INSTRUCTION: Autumn is talented and passionate about her craft. I like that she can provide instruction and then give you your space so you can work. She doesn't hover over you and make you uncomfortable and I appreciate that. If she sees you doing something unsafe or incorrect she will intervene. If you are confused or unsure you should speak up, she'll be happy to help. If you're too shy you might get overlooked and waste your valuable time as you only have a certain time frame to complete your project. THE VALUE: The stained glass classes are a little pricey ($75ish) but when you take into consideration the cost of the supplies, the tools, the instruction, and the studio time it's a pretty sweet deal. I am super happy with the pieces I've walked away with. They're gorgeous and made with your own hands. I'll be back again in the future. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to work with their hands, get creative, learn a new hobby, or make a gorgeous gift for someone. read more

This place is not kid friendly at all. We were not informed of a policy regarding dropping off kids for art classes. This policy was stated on their website but not on our groupon or in the confirmation email from the owner. When I checked my kids in I asked what time they needed to be picked up there was only one other person in the studio at the time. The owner had plenty of time to state the policy and give me a chance to reschedule. Instead she said nothing. I left and was contacted 15 minutes later by her stating I needed to return and supervise my children due to her policy. There is also a policy of no one under the age of six in the studio. As I had. 2,4,5 year old in tow my kids had to leave the class. No apology was made and my kids were crying. Definitely not the way to make a good impression. We cancelled all of the other groupons we had purchased for this company. read more

The studio was filthy, which for a clay studio is very dangerous to customer's health. (Breathing clay dust can cause silicosis, which is why it is essential for clay studios to be meticulously clean.) When I went there, there was a pile of used clay about 2 feet x 4 feet on the floor and the rest of the space was very dirty as well. read more

Wow what a great place! I have done stained glass... mosaics and thrown pottery. Autumn is fun and eager to please. She will do everything in her power to make your day! It's a small studio but she knows how to multitask and answer questions when help is needed. If you can't follow directions or need someone to make a project FOR you... this isn't your place but if you are artistically inclined or just want to relax at the pottery wheel this place is up your ally. My boyfriend and I bought a pass and go whenever we can. After a stress filled day there's nothing like relaxing with good company and glazing a pot. :) can't wait to make more art at the studio!! read more

I found Autumn on line when my 13 year old daughter wanted to do a stained glass project. She e-mailed me right away and then was responsive on the phone as well when I had more questions. She gave a private class to my daughter and her friend. She was amazing with her teaching and patience. She let the girls pick a project they were interested in and it was obvious she really wanted them to enjoy the class and be successful with their project. We took a mosaics class through groupon. It was a lot of money for minimal supplies scrap and a minute or two of instruction. She wasn't prepared for the class (had to wait for chairs even let alone basic supplies) and we saw her maybe 5 minutes during the three hour "class." Mosaic is clearly not rocket science but it still would have been nice to know how to get a really good final product, what type of glue to use etc., or get some artistic guidance since we did pay over $100. We finally just left with a half done product to figure out how to finish on our own at home rather than do the same there and have to pay for studio time to complete. Disappointing experience. The studio is very well equipped and the artist, Autumn, is very helpful and multitalented. My daughter and I did a mosaic class and I was really scared to do it since I have no artistic talent whatsoever. She showed us how and explained it well and I had such fun picking out the colored glass bits. I used lavenders and pinks and teals and mirror and made a beautiful butterfly.
