Stopped by this unassuming place on the way to Rehoboth, DE. My wife is into plants and saw it had a greenhouse/plant nursery. The kids loved the little selection of candy and the ice cream was delicious. The wife saw the crab vendor and she said the crabs were really good. We got the crabs to go and I don't recall if they have tables or a place to sit down if you decide to eat the crabs there. Everyone of the staff seemed really friendly and it will be another stop point whenever we make a trip to Rehoboth. I didn't purchase or check out the fruits and veggies but if you need a place to stop and stretch your legs then this place was awesome. I believe they only had one bathroom and a porta potty. Not sure how busy it gets typically but there weren't a lot of people there. Seems like the place to go when traveling through. We walked around the plant nursery and they had a wide range of flowers, plants, and pots. I did notice that there were a few other little farm stands when we got back on the road. Didn't get a chance to check those out and compare but from the outside this place seemed to be more established. read more

Great little pit stop on the way back to DC from Reho. Small town farmers market vibes. The plants and veggies are reasonably priced and they have cute pots and planters. The palms are about 1/2 the price they are in DC. I should have taken a pic, but I'm pretty sure they have the biggest strawberries I've ever seen. read more

Recent transplants to Ridgely and we are extremely happy to be near Clayton Farms! Great produce and VERY nice people. It can get crowded on the weekends but worth a stop, and no matter how busy they are, the folks at the counter treat you with service with a smile, a refreshing change from many other places. Wonderful folks, but for the price I'd rather get my produce at Giant where the deals are better and the produce tastes about the same, whatever is in season. In early September, followed recommendations of the very nice owner lady and got "seedless" watermelon, which actually had seeds and was not nearly as good as the one I got at Giant last week, a "sweet" melon that she really talked up that turned out to be pretty tasteless, pears and plums that were mealy and flavorless, and honey crisp apples that we haven't tried yet, but I'm not hopeful. This is disappointing this time because in the past we've stopped here twice on our way home from Delaware and both times everything we got was great. I think we'll stick to Giant. read more

We had the best lunch ever at Clayton Farms! And by lunch we mean ice cream! The peanut butter twirl was sublime. The cookies and cream and chocolate almond scoops were epic. Very decently priced produce for the times that we are in, and we love to support a local family and their farm. Bring cash so that you can avoid the 3% charge for using credit. this is a great farm stand, it appears to be family operated. Everyone that works there is friendly and helpful and conscientious. Their produce is gorgeous. They have ice cream, baked goods, canned goods and they even bring in a crab steaming trucks on summer weekends. It is a regular stop for me traveling to and from Rehoboth. As with many of the reviews on here, we happened to be driving by and stopped in. My gps took me a different route home from Rehoboth which I am so glad that it did. This market is a gem. They had all your typical garden veggies and fruit that you could find. I was really jazzed buy the hydroponic lettuce heads they had for sale. They looks so healthy and fresh! The market was split into veggie/fruit, pantry items, and then refrigerated goods like milk/meat/cheese. They even had a little ice cream stand!!! I'm so happy I found this place! Fantastic farmers market that has the best local produce in the area. Their sweet corn, zucchini, asparagus, selection of berries, and potatoes are all favorites of ours. They also feature a small greenhouse, local hand dipped ice cream with a surprising nice variety (highly recommend the PB Twirl), as well as local products and meats from a variety of shore based vendors. Was driving through the area during an impromptu road trip to Slaughter Beach to see the crabs. I noticed that they were starting to harvest the corn. I was thinking that some corn on the cob sounded good. While driving, I came up on Clayton Farms and circled back to stop in. I'm glad I did. They have a huge variety of fruits and vegetables as well as baked goods, cheeses, seafood, meats and craft goods. The staff was friendly and helpful. What a hidden gem!! Stopped by while driving back from beach. Staff was extremely friendly and produce was so fresh. The bunches of flowers were gorgeous and so incredibly reasonable; we bought 3 bunches. Prices are great - will definitely visit again. I've stopped here a few times as we drove from our home in PA to our home in DE, but have often found better options closer to each residence. A lot of their business must come from tourists who have fewer choices other than the price-gouging at the beach area farm stands. Also, I received my credit card bill recently and found out that, on our latest stop in May 2022, an extra 3% was added because we used a card. I wasn't aware of this policy, if CF actually has any sign posted notifying their customers of this it is not terribly noticeable. Buyer be warned, especially if you are buying a lot of items! read more

Too expensive and bad quality produce.

Clayton Farms is the perfect market to stop at. They have a ton of produce that they grow and they also offer a large selection of produce that they can't grow. Everything is always fresh and the staff is so knowledgable and friendly. Right in line price wise with all the other markets in the area. The only difference is, you're getting produce experts who treat you like family. They got a face lift this season and it looks better than ever. Eileen has really taken this place to the next level. Claytons is nice because it's a family business. I believe in supporting small, local businesses. Some items tend to be overpriced, for example the hanging baskets, therefore it's a 4**** rating.
