This is a typical chain airport hotel. It is in the process of changing from Radisson blue to the Clayton brand. It is about a 20 to 25 minute drive from Dublin less than 10 minutes on the complementary shuttle to the airport. It was also convenient to the 19 city bus from O'Connell Street. We took this back from the city. It was less than five minutes from the bus stop to the hotel. I wouldn't walk it alone, but if you're with other people it's fine. The lobby was nice with some seating and a water refill station. It also has a restaurant. The rooms were clean but basic. It was a little odd to have a table, but no chairs to sit at the table. It also had a desk with one chair and an arm chair to sit in. It had a coffee tea station, and also some cookies. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was nice. It had a rain, head shower. The front desk staff were excellent. They answered some of our questions and were helpful with directions. They also were able to replenish the tea in the morning before we had to check out. We had an overnight layover through Dublin and stayed here during the beginning of the trip and again at the end of the trip. The hotel is within walking distance of the airport. While departing the hotel, we were able to take the shuttle. The rooms were undergoing refurbishment. Our rooms for our two stays were quite different. The first night, the hallway floor was covered in plastic. There was a random chair sitting between our room and the room next door. The room was ok overall, but did need an update. A week later, we stayed on the same floor but different room. There was no longer any plastic in the hallway. The room smelled new and looked more modern. Overall, I would say it's a good place to stay if you're looking to be close to the airport. read more

This place is pretty nice actually. If you are staying by the Dublin Airport, it's pretty much the best option. And way better than the Maldron which is pretty much aweful. We stayed here after our United flight was cancelled multiple days in a row due to an engine failure. While it's 10-15 minutes from the airport and not in walking distance like a few hotels like the Maldron, it's worth that inconvenience imo. Rooms were modern and clean. Room had a good amount of space the delayed airline dinner and breakfast was decent. Let me elaborate, the dinner was ok. The deserts were solid but the main course was meh. Edible, but fairly bland. Again - way better than the Maldron. Breakfast was solid. Very much a typical Irish breakfast. Good assortment of fresh breads and yogurts along with a few meats. Highly recommend. I booked one night at the Clayton since we had a late arrival into Dublin Airport. My room rate included overnight parking for my rental car and buffet breakfast in the morning. We did find outdoor parking but there also was underground parking which would help avoid getting wet on the downpour that night. The checkin process was quick even though they were quite busy. Front desk was friendly and we received an upgraded room which was roomy, updated and comfortable. The bathroom was also quite nice but could've used more counter space for our stuff. Breakfast was also busy but the dining room was large. The Irish breakfast, very much like the Scottish one we ate the previous week, was hearty and filling. A decent selection of pastries, fruit and cereals were laid out along with all in one coffee and expresso machines. Check out was via a kiosk and that went quickly. This is a basic but comfortable hotel that is conveniently close to the airport making early morning flights just a bit easier. We reserved a couple months in advance but due to the St. Patrick's Day holiday it was almost fully booked and the price was astronomical. Check in and out was easy enough and the room was decent sized. Bathroom was pretty small with inadequate toiletries but it worked for the night. Mini fridge was in the room but not plugged in or cold. Beds and linen were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was not included in the ridiculous rate for our room. Its okay for ONE night, but anymore than that and it will spoil your perception of Dublin. Here the real scoop... Outside it's an okay hotel, and inside it's relatively clean. Decorated with beautiful black and white photos of the Emerald Isle on the wall. Having said that, the GTFO vibe is strong in this place. They seemed to be well booked. You can note this by the full shuttles which leave for the airport every half an hour. The full elevators, the busy packed parking lots and the melting pot of guest speaking various languages. The rooms are clean [enough] to the naked eye. There is a a television with a remote in the room but not much else. The towels are quite dingy. There is no fridge, soap or even water for guests. The room we stayed in had old dilapidated sinks, but they worked. It's only right that I note some good amenities: There was climate control in the rooms. Good amount of charging ports. Comfortable beds. Bewley's (the best) instant coffee. No insects, that I could see. No stains on the rugs. Finally, I felt safe here and that is big. There seems to be a sharp decline in hotels after the lockdown. It seems as if the hotel industry is just rolling over due to AirBnB? Two and a half stars. Manager doesn't seem to be able to figure out how to do her job. We payed extra for late checkout (2pm) because we'd just got off a 10 hr flight. She decided to come bang on our door at 11.45 to wake us up and tell us it was time to check out. She must not be too bright because regular check out time isn't even until 12pm. Then when we went to check out we realised they'd charged us twice! Wouldn't have caught it if we'd dropped the key in the box. Huge spider above the bed, no fridge, pealing wallpaper and becoming kind of run down too. There's supposed to be a wheelchair lift to access the rooms too because there's stairs and it doesn't work. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. The is no airconditioning in any of the rooms, even when it was 30c outside. I sat in a sauna all night, sweating and angry, having to take showers every hour to cool off and wash the sweat. Oh, the showers love to cycle between cold water and hot water, one minute surprising you, the next, scalding you. There is NO ICE MACHINES or ice buckets, the drinks brought to your room ARE WARM. The beds suck, and they put a thick blanket on the bed with no sheet to use, so even if you try an sleep on top, you bake. My sink was full of beard hair when I checked in (which too 30 minutes), and it took 2 hours for someone to come and clean it. (I wonder what ELSE wasn't cleaned.). Stay way clear of this crap hole, go accross the street to the other hotels that may take better care of their guests. OH! AND THEY CHARGE ME 400 dollars for this crappy night, they LOVE to gouge their prices and their customers. Its hard to park, too many taxis, and there is nothing close. We were staying here for the night before flying home. We arrived from England and there was a shuttle available to take us to the hotel. Checkin was quick and easy. The room had a double and a twin bed, a TV desk, chair, safe, and fan. The bathroom was clean but there were black spots in the tub and sink, one of which looked like a bug. The spot appeared to be from an attempt to plug a hole or that there was some ceramic chipped off but it was off-putting. The room was warmer than I would like. There was no information about how to regulate it or anything else about the hotel in the room. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and nice. The convenience with the shuttle available made it a good spot to stay for a night. The things I didn't care for were minor overall and wouldn't mind staying there again. read more

This is definitely one of the better airport hotels that I've stayed in. We were able to get a dinner reservation when we checked in. We had a 6:30 am flight to Scotland so we took the 4:45/5 am shuttle to the airport and we got off with zero issue. It was also very quiet at night. The hotel is clean. I had issues at check in with the staff finding my reservation. We were told they had same day laundry, they have 72 hour laundry. It took us an hour to find someone who knew the answer. The front desk staff is not the best. They are more like American staff than Irish. Finally, I left a shopping bag of 130 perfume and I came back down to get it, and no one could find it. I am extremely upset since I left it at check in. Our sink was peeling, and had no bath mat. The previous reviewer hit the nail on the head with most of the aspects of this hotel. To add, the hotels main restaurant The Brasserie and Bar's gastropub like styling with dark woods and comfy-cushy brass-nail head chairs offers the comforts needed. The Carvery is also there to avail you of a breakfast buffet, lunch or dinner and to round things out there's the Red Bean Rostery, located in the lobby offering a decent spot of tea or cup of latté, often served with the accompaniment of a pastry slathered in your favourite jam and Irish butter. The rooms we had, with the exception of the bathroom, could've used some updating on the decor. The decor seemed a bit dated but aside from that our rooms served our purpose well as far as being clean, spacious, comfortable and included the necessary in-room amenities. Our only negative with the Clayton Hotel Dublin Airport, is as the name indicates it is an airport hotel and is 10 mins away with no traffic via Taxi (Tacsi) from the City Centre; the heart of Dublin. During rush hour that ride could be over an hour away and can range from €20-€30 each way, which makes it pricey if you want to be in the city centre daily. Yet on the positive side, it's less than 10 mins away from the airport with the hotels complimentary shuttle. On our next visit if no other options are available, we all agreed aside from the hotels seclusion we would consider staying here again. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Clayton Hotel. I recommend staying here either at the beginning or end of your vacation because it is in a perfect location from the airport. They offer a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport that is on a 20 minute or so run. This enabled us to return our rental car a day early and sleep in a little before heading to the airport. Taking the shuttle to the hotel after returning the rental car and the next morning back to the airport was very convenient. The shuttle is very clean and it is a straight drive. The hotel is very big just completed a renovation. Every part of the hotel looked new and fresh. Check in went smoothly and I was impressed by the professionalism of the staff. There is a coffee shop and bar on the main level that was very busy. We tried to have dinner in their Italian restaurant but they were completely booked so we had to dine off property. I recommend booking a reservation at the restaurant when you book your room. The rooms are very clean and relaxing. The bed was very comfortable and was made with upgraded linens. read more

We loved this place for our Christmas 2018 vacation and first trip to Ireland. It is so close and convenient to the airport but also a close ride to the City Centre and so many of the classic sights and sounds of Dublin. The food in the restaurants and bars was excellent. The Christmas Dinner was a wonderful five-course meal, but at $100 a patron was way overpriced. Still we had a great time in Ireland, with our first two nights, then our last night here at the Clayton Airport. If we come back to Dublin, we will stay here again! read more

I wanted to like this hotel because it is close to the airport and it has a free shuttle. However, it seems to have a read the fine print or "yeah, that really isn't our policy" attitude, and it wasn't an overall pleasant experience. We would never stay here again. My husband and I had a quick one night layover in Dublin before returning home to NJ. We wanted something close to the airport because we had a morning flight. The shuttle was great both ways, by far the hotel's only saving grace. Check in took a really long time. There were two people during a peak time and it seemed that they took a unusually long time with each person. There was also an issue with our check in. We had a written confirmation from hotels.com stating a king sized bed for one night WITH breakfast for two adults. They said that they don't do that unless you prepay the room. We had a written confirmation. In the end, they honored it but it took multiple conversations. The room was OK - larger than expected but slightly dated. Decent area to put our suitcase. Would have liked conditioner in the bathroom. The food at dinner was quite good at the restaurant but service was bizarre. I watched our waitress drop the butter multiple times and put it back on the serving platter. She and the host asked for our room number multiple times and there was a spot to include it on the check but we couldn't charge our meal to the room? Then when she asked if we wanted to pay in dollars or Euros, we said Euros, she charged us in dollars anyway. WTF. Breakfast was so so. We were initially seated at a dirty table. When we asked to be seated somewhere else, they said "Oh but it will be clean in a couple of minutes." Options are limited if you are like my husband and don't eat pork. The oatmeal is quite good, as are the croissants (although I wasn't in the mood after having just spent a week in France, not the hotel's fault). Check out was a breeze. We stayed here due to its close proximity to the airport. It was very crowded for check in, for check out and breakfast. The desk staff, coffee shop staff, bus driver did not exhibit the usual Irish hospitality. They all appeared to be glad to be rid of us. The bathroom had mildew in the shower base and along the tiles. The bathroom mirror had chips and gouges around it. We prepaid for breakfast because it was not included for a deluxe double room with a nightly rate of 269 euros. The additional cost of breakfast was 29 euros. After arriving at the airport, we got an email that we were charged for a second breakfast! Beware of this hotel. Upon arrival, we stayed at the Dublin Hilton Airport and we were treated well! read more

The shuttle to the airport was nice, but it was crowded and people had to wait for the next bus. The room was nice, but too hot. I was restricted from setting the thermostat below 17º C and even then the air conditioning was not effective. We chose to use the coffee bar for breakfast, but it opened late so there wasn't much selection on display (but we did manage to get pastries that were on a cart waiting to be displayed). This is for hotel car parking to access Dublin Airport. This will be short. Avoid if you can. Terrible service with at least one driver with a bad attitude. On arrival one must try to find their own space as no help is given. Vehicles are literally parked on top of each other. Signage out is like service pretty crap. On return three of our family got on the bus. We two were slower coming behind and the grey haired middle aged fecker pulled off - 12.40 24 Feb 19. We stood next him as he went through the barrier and blanked us. Oncoming traffic was preventing his departure so he could easily let us board. But he kept blanking us with our family pointing us out. The Irish have an expression for this type of chap - dog ignorant. The drivers even have the audacity to have a tips box at the front of the bus. They are having a laugh. I'd sack him. To rub salt in when we got the next bus after the driver pulled out he stopped to let a young woman with a Oran board. WTF Maybe we are just too old. Oh the management have no need to apologise - we won't return unless we are desperate. read more

I understand the rating system for the lodging industry and the requirements to achieve a high rating. I was a chef for 20 years. Simply offering enough requirements and equipping the hotel with the correct quality of furnishings, it doesn't make you a good hotel. The hotel is not adequately staffed. I see half the staff working extremely hard, while a few act tired and distracted. The food in the restaurant tastes good but something is always wrong with it. My wife and I were looking, last minute, for a hotel near Dublin Airport after an unexpected flight delay. Most of the other airport hotels were close to two times the price as Clayton so we to stay here. I was a bit skeptical after reading some reviews but we actually had a pleasant experience here. Yes, the hotel is undergoing some renovations. Yes, not all rooms are renovated. If you stay here, you must request a renovated room. My three complaints.. First, the shuttle was packed. There was so many guests that we were unable to grab the first shuttle and had to wait for the same shuttle to come back to the airport. This whole process took close to 2 hours after clearing customs! Second, there are no universal charging points and no complimentary adaptors. They make you buy an adapter in the vending machine. Third, no complimentary shaving kits. Again, they make you purchase this in the vending machine. All things said, given the price compared to other hotels, this was a pleasant stay in a renovated room. The drawbacks are quite unfortunate and you would think that a renovated room would have universal charging outlets. read more

Tried calling down to the desk numerous times between 10 pm &730am.... 5 rings & it disconnects. No answer. Asked about the bus back to the airport, i was told us it tine every 20 minutes but it's not set on a schedule past that. Just an odd place all in all. This a nice modern hotel just outside the Dublin airport. The rooms are reasonably sized. They run regular shuttle service to and from the airport. It was a very busy place, but it was not hard to get a drink and meal there. Weather in Dublin was running warm when we were there, so air conditioning would have been nice. read more

Hotel is nice clean and comfortable and close to airport. Free shuttle every 20 minutes to Airport. Check in is slow and taxis are forced to drop you off close to the door but not at the door. While we had prepaid our room we wanted to be able eat. So they had to pre authorize my credit card. No worries. But when we went to restaurant to eat they couldn't charge mealto room. Had to run my credit card again. We ate in The Italian Kitchen. The server a young lady from Coolock was an absolute pleasure. However while my wife was happy with her dinner mine was just ok. So to be safe I ordered a pizza to go. When I opened it in the room ( a 4 cheese pizza ) it was dreadful. It's as though pizza sauce and grated cheese were endangered species as there was very little of either on this warm pizza dough. Dinner was not cheap, I was prepared for that at an airport hotel, but for $90 Euro I expected a little more. My advice..... Eat dinner before you get here. read more

My first trip to Ireland, it was just 2 days and it poured on the first. This property is very close to the airport, maybe 10-15 minutes by free shuttle bus which they offer. I just didn't know where to catch it so ended up taking a taxi for just under €12. Very modern and clean. Andy at the front desk was amazingly helpful, got me a room even though it was early about 06:30 while check in is normally 15:00. Room was a nice size, bathroom was right size to do your usual business. Tub was a but narrow but still got my fat behind under the shower head. View was not so great, I got the bus garage. No air conditioning but open the window and it cools off very nicely. There is a mini fridge for your drinks. Ice unfortunately is only on the 7th level I think, I was on level 4. Also no bucket for the ice so I used the hot water kettle. Staff from front desk, restaurant and coffee bar are extremely nice and helpful. I do think my neighbor next door or above me was doing their nightly exercise as they were a bit loud. Sounded like they were moving furniture around to make room. Other than the noisy neighbor, a very nice property and staff. If and when I return to Dublin, I will also stay here. Just get to breakfast real early, check out early as there are a lot of people doing the same. read more
