It's really close to the Dublin airport and staff is friendly, but the hotels feels dirty. Showers show signs of water damage. We stayed here because United Airlines sucks. And our flight was cancelled because of engine issues. I'm glad we got a bed, but I wouldn't say here unless there was other options. United offered us dinner comp but that is a nasty looking buffet. My kids and I refused to eat it. They are picky and I'm sure my dog would have passed. But we order a burger and split it. And my other kid got a pizza. Those were solid. Bathrooms are tiny. I'm not sure how Google rating for this is 4.1 and hotels.com is 8.4. read more

I chose this place because it was so close to the airport. I also thought there will be a shuttle from the airport. When I arrived, I realized the sign states that I need to call for the pick up. However, I didn't have any sim card because it was supposed to be a layover. It wasn't raining, so I lugged my luggage to the place (within ~15 minutes of walking). When I arrived, I got a room early (yay!). The set up for the rooms was so difficult that they had to have a handout, with arrows all over the place. When I got to my room, I was finally going to rest in (room on 1st floor). When it was time for dinner, I was confused because their handout states the restaurant open at 5:30pm so I went to the restaurant (grain & bread?). The sign on the restaurant stated they open at 6pm. However, I saw many people enjoying some sort of buffet - so I asked the front desk... who said the restaurant was already opened. I walked into the restaurant and was immediately ushered out because there was a private event. Therefore, I came back around 6:40pm. Even though there weren't many people, the service took awhile. The food was so salty - I had to drink lots of water to compensate. I had the shrimp mango salad (somewhat good enough) and the noodles (super salty). For the next day, the check out was fast enough and the driver was readily available, as per handout they gave me. Goodbye Dublin! read more

TLDR: The Maldron had good last minute availability and friendly reception staff. The room was spacious and very clean, albeit some of the furniture was a bit worn. For an airport hotel, it exceeded my expectations. I was hesitating between the two extant hotel options at Dublin Airport and originally booked the other one. As I walked from the terminal to that other hotel after a red eye, I first passed the Maldron and thought to myself "I'd be here by now if I had booked this one." When I got to that first hotel I'd booked, they had no rooms available, so my only recourse was to wait until my designated check-in time or to keep checking every hour to see if something had opened up. The only way around this would have been to have booked two nights in advance instead of one, which makes little economic sense given my short stay to catch another flight the next morning. In my red eye delirium, I decided to return to the beacon of hope that was the Maldron, as thankfully I had a flex rate on the first hotel that was cancellable. When I walked into the Maldron, I immediately felt hope and relief. The unpretentious atmosphere was more functional than luxe. With bated breath, I asked if any rooms were available and they had one on the spot. It was an easy walk up the stairs (or you can take a lift) and was spacious and meticulously clean. There were two boxes of W.B. Yeats stillwater (is everything in Ireland so existential?) The bathroom was small but efficient and clean. I noticed a chair in the room was quite worn but that was about the only con I could think of. Well, the bar staff were not the nicest but I didn't come here for that. The shuttle to the terminal in the morning was easy, too. It was waiting outside- no need to call ahead. read more

Frightening. The photographer for hotel pictures is an artist because real life reminded me of a bad 1980's college dorm. Ceilings are low, hallways low light and everything is painted grey. The pictures had pops of color with flowers and chairs, the real rooms don't. The bath tub had two screws at the bottom and were rusty. Why there were screes in the bottom of the tub I'll never know. The bathroom trash can was dented and rusty. Need I go on? Do yourself a favor and stay a little further out and get a better hotel. read more

This hotel is exactly what I needed right when I needed it. Normally I don't stay in hotels near the airport but after an incredibly long layover, I needed to sleep as soon as I landed and got my rental car. Maldron is a lovely hotel with extremely comfortable beds and pillows. Based on my last trip to Ireland, the beds I slept in were not the most comfortable, so it was truly a great night's sleep that was so dire. The staff are all friendly and kind, and the breakfast was great. It's always unbelievable to me how much fresher and pure the food is when out of the states. Typically, you'll find honey to put on your yogurt or oatmeal, but here in Ireland, it's real honey...not packets of processed high fructose corn syrup. The porridge was great with so many toppings to add to it. I kept it simple with a drizzle of honey and a dash of cinnamon. A fried egg on some wheat toast and some home fries with a cappuccino made my morning complete. While the room itself is a tad small, it's modern, clean, and sleek and the tv had fantastic reception, which is something else I didn't experience much my last trip here. I would highly recommend this hotel to travelers who like me, are so tired that it's best to get to a destination to sleep right away. The water pressure in the shower is also perfect. This hotel is super convenient to the airport. I walked here from T2 with a rolling bag and a briefcase in 7 minutes. For those of us who suffer from shuttle anxiety on the morning of departure, this is a huge plus. The lobby is huge, the bar is ok, I didn't eat here. The room, well it's pokey (for 145 euro). Very small. Opening my suitcase was a challenge. The bathroom and shower require some agility. If you have a toiletry bag, you are going to consider the closed toilet for placement. No room on the vanity. The shower has a half door. If you don't figure out the correct position for the shower head before turning it on, you're going to have to do some mopping up. As a single guy looking for somewhere to put my head before an early flight, it was fine. I would not bring the family. read more

Wow what can I say... I was overall completely disappointed in everything about the stay. First the shuttle service never picked us up and I had to call long distance to get them to come. I check in (having booked a queen) I get to the room and it's two twin beds for my fiancée and me. I get back to the lobby after letting them know the mistake. It was taken care of. You have to use your room key to activate the lights. What a joke. All the pictures of the rooms show such a nice place. The walls are worn or chips on most furniture. The rug in the hallway is stained and cheap. Avoid at all costs. I wish I'd slept at my gate. read more

I have come to this hotel many times in the past. The convenience of being so close to the airport for early morning departures makes this hotel ideal. Since, we have been here before, we expect the tiny rooms, okay food service and somewhat pleasant staff acceptable due to location. I arrived after a long day of meeting and a two and half hours on the road with two other coworkers. We arrived with three confirmed reservations in our positions, however, two of the three confirmed reservations where not honored. The hotel never called nor e-mailed saying there was an issue. We raised the issue to the manger with no help. We where given less than ideal response as "sorry"we are booked full and we had issues with your credit cards. We were unaware of any issue with payment prior to arrival as we had confirmed reservations. To make matters worse our third reservation that was honored we tried to cancel it. The hotel would not honor this request. We went to the Radisson across the road, much nicer hotel with recently updates to the hotel, with very helpful staff and more importantly honored our confirmed reservations on the same credit cards using the same travel agency as with the Maldron reservation. read more

I was stranded in Dublin and had to deal with two staff members who just couldn't be bothered. I'm exhausted and have been to multiple countries over the past week and I ordered a Guinness at the bar. The young kid at the bar told me I don't have an account linked to my room and then told me I had to go to the reception (there were easily 30 people lined up at reception at that time) and I'd already ordered room service earlier in the evening because I'm here on business and needed to work through dinner (so they absolutely had my credit card information). I approached his colleague a moment later and told him the scenario. His colleague apologized and stated that they were busy and he could get me a drink. He came back a minute later with my receipt and had me sign then he said for the inconvenience I'd be given another (extra) Guinness. I agreed and he told me to sit and that I'd be served shortly. I sat and he came over several minutes later and expressed that one beer was possible, not two. I received several glares from staff and I think it's pretty sad when staff says one thing and doesn't uphold their word and then they stare someone down. I've been to 4 countries in the past few days and my flight home was canceled. I'm looking for peace in a hotel, not grief or judgement. I will definitely be encouraging people to steer clear of this hotel. Just because it's near the airport doesn't mean it's decent or has staff who are competent. Don't tell someone you're going to give them a perk for an inconvenience then go back on your word. It's going to cost you tips and probably at least a half dozen guests in the next month or two. Smarten up. By the way this was two men between the hours of 21-22:00 on Monday who were at the "Red Bean Roastery". You are within walking distance of the airport, like literally a 10 minute walk. That is really all I have going for this place. The layout was confusing as hell. My poor mom got lost trying to find the lobby to meet us for dinner (we all got lost actually). The lobby is on the 2nd floor even though it doesn't seem like it should be. The elevators don't take you anywhere near where you need to go, and your choice is to wander down and find the one that will or take it up to your floor and wander around. You are probably going to spend some time just being lost in here. The restaurant served what could be called food. My mom had to send her dinner back it was so inedible. I choked down most of mine, but it was pretty bad. We were all kind of pissed at how expensive and terrible the dinner was. Thankfully they had a pastry station open so we didn't go to bed hungry. The room was ok. You probably aren't staying here for an extended period of time. As a place to lay down for a few hours and get a hot shower it wasn't bad. Not the most comfortable space, but for a few hours before your flight, not bad. This was one of the pricier hotels we stayed at and it was by far the worse, but again right next to the airport. It's the little things that upset me. The hotel is nice, the staff good, but the room had a flyer advertising meals at the restaurant for 25 euros - choose a main and something else. The steak looked good, so after arriving in the restaurant, asking, and finally getting the " special" menu, the steak had a 5 Euro surcharge. It annoyed me for the false advertising and I will likely stay at the Radisson next time. These stupid little tricks are enough to make me go elsewhere. And it isn't as if this is a budget hotel. It isn't - so why try to gouge on the hidden menu. No hairdryer, so pack your own. One half of the shower has no door, so keep an extra towel available to mop up the floor. The wall thermostat is a placebo- but they do supply extra blankets. You will need them!! Note: advertised as closest to Dublin airport. Had a very mid experience here. Hotel was fine enough, although room barely came with any toiletries. The restaurant was also very underwhelming, but the biggest problem is the Red Bean Roastery in the lobby. I got an iced latte and a yogurt and for the next two go had the worst stomach pain I've ever experienced. I almost fainted on my car ride away from the hotel because my stomach hurt so badly. I'm not sure if something was wrong with the milk, or perhaps the yogurt was expired. Either way, would not recommend. read more

I'm writing this review as I just arrived about 30 minutes ago, and I already cannot wait to leave this place in the morning. When we called the shuttle to pick us up, at around 11:30, the guy driving the shuttle looked very inconvenienced. He barely helped us with our bags. He made us carry our heavy luggage from the cart to the back of the shuttle; when we got to the hotel he just put our luggage on the ground in the lot (not on the sidewalk), and when one of the bags starts to roll away, he points at it and says "your bag is rolling away" as he watched us struggle with all of our other luggage. Then when we walk into the hotel, and after checking in, we bring our luggage to the lift where the luggage cart fits just fine, but the luggage on the cart does not fit at all. We get to our room after struggling with our luggage in the lift, and after walking around the whole bottom floor, and find that my fiancée and I were given two twin beds instead of the one queen bed that we paid for (the Queen we paid for us more expensive than the twin room we were given). We then have to fumble back around the whole hotel to get back on the lift to deal with the same luggage issue, and get our room changed. Then we get to our new room, and there is only 1 full sized towel? Now we have to walk the endless hallways AGAIN for a another towel that should've been in the room in the first place. I regret having stayed here, and I'm leaving first thing in the morning even though my flight isn't until 2 PM. P.S. Their room service only runs from 3:00PM-11:00PM, so don't expect to get breakfast delivered via room service, and don't expect to have dinner delivered via room service if for some reason you're on a late flight and check in after 11:00PM. I would NOT recommend this place to anybody. I would try the other hotel next door before giving this one a try. read more

We checked into this hotel just after 3pm on 6/17/22. The front desk employees were nice, but they took forever to check people in. The process is so long and just keep people waiting. The numbering of the rooms is very odd and strange. We finally found our room and ended up helping people find theirs. We heard the front desk test a gentleman 88 years old and his wife, 81, their room wasn't far, yes room 281 is far for and older couple. (We had to help them to find a room). The bar was closed, so signage, we had to help people know it was closed but they were serving drinks. The service and staff there was good as well as in the restaurant, and that food was good. For $249/night, the room was a joke. Two pillows, two towels where most hotels give 4 pillows and 4 towels. NO soap, shampoo or conditioner, just HAND soup i the shower, same soap by the sink. NO wash cloth. No alarm clock. Only two plugs near floor far from bed to charge anything. Water splatters out from shower. No complementary waters. I asked for soap and washcloth after standing in line at front desk to be told it would be a while. It was 9:30p and I had to wake up at 3:30a. Front desk should have those essentials at hand. To be so proud to be airport's closest hotel they sure do a terrible job! I'll never recommend this place or stay here again! read more

Take a cab into town rather than hang out here, as there is food and drink just a short hop away. Selected this airport hotel because of an early morning flight the next morning after a vacay throughout parts of the Republic. As my bus entered the airport area, I could see the hotel and noticed it was truly within a short walking distance from the terminal. The only minor problem was getting across the road safely to take that walk. I had not noticed the overhead walkway connecting the two sides of the terminal and asked a security person. He showed me where the road could be safely crossed and said that I should be able to find a back path into the hotel. 5 minutes tops! I was hoping to drop my bags and spend the day in Dublin. I lucked out and was able to get into my room at 10 am. My first impression once I checked in was that the hotel was a bit tired and dusty. When I entered my room, it was hot and muggy and I said a small prayer as I turned on the air conditioning and left for the day. I walked back to Terminal 2 and boarded one of the frequent Air Express buses to downtown. By the time I returned that evening, my room was refreshingly cool. I had dinner in the restaurant and was pleased with the quality and freshness of the food. I enjoyed a feta cheese and serrano ham salad, followed by a baked chicken accompanied by mixed vegetables. Very nicely done and very filling. I was able to skip dessert. Service was unobtrusive. I found the bed to be too firm for me; the bathroom looked recently renovated and had a spotless shower stall. The next morning, I hopped the airport shuttle provided by the hotel. read more

I selected the Maldron due to its close proximity to DUB, as were were only staying one night in Dublin to catch a flight to LAX. When we arrived into DUB we asked our cab driver to take us to the Maldron at DUB. He pointed and said its over there. Little that we knew, the hotel was really, seriously walking distance! We apologized, but he insisted on taking us away. It was only a few minutes, not even 5 minutes drive! ...we gave him a good tip for the inconvenience! It was quite funny! We went through the rotating door and spotted the reception easily. The area was well lit and open. The staff was pleasant and took care of us immediately. Our room was a Superior Queen. It was a sleek, decent size room. The bed was very firm and comfortable. We were provided with two robes and two slippers- a nice touch! There was an iron and ironing board in the closet as well. This was surprising since most hotels don't provide it, only by request. However considering that this hotel is primarily used for business travelers, it makes good sense. The bathroom was nice, I love the grey stone walls. The shower had two shower heads. And thank goodness they provide shampoo AND conditioner!! For some reason many European hotels don't provide conditioner!! My 4 days in La Palma without conditioner was ROUGH! I ran out of toothpaste so went to the reception to see if they have a sundry store where I can purchase a few necessities. She told me that they don't have one. However across the street was a shop. Also I can check the vending machine around the hallway as they have some items. Sure enough I found the vending machine. It carried a bunch of knick-knacks like chargers and hygiene kits. I got myself the tiny toothpaste kit, which was perfect for my one night stay. We didn't really get to discover the restaurant section of the hotel due to our very short stay. We left the hotel at 4am to catch our flight. But overall for our short stay- it was pleasant and we had no complaints. This is a small hotel but seems to have their business together. read more

Overall I had a decent stay here. Check in/out was quick and the airport shuttle worked out great. Rooms were nice and the bests were comfortable. Restaurant was overpriced and not very good. I had a chicken bacon club which was tasty but the chicken was dry dry dry. The other members of my party went with a steak sandwich which was alright. The rooms are supposed to be non-smoking, but there's a pile of cigarette ends outside of every window that nobody can be bothered to clean up. The hotel is nice enough, but it's expensive for what you get. Don't stay here if you are driving a vehicle. Each time you enter their parking lot, you accept an encoded paper ticket. If you later want to drive off, you first must do the following: 1) Go to the reception front desk, and perhaps wait in line. Have their reception person validate your ticket so you get the reduced parking cost. 2) Go to one of the nearby machines where you pay for parking at their hotel. The machine does not accept cash euro bills; you must have euro coins or a credit/debit card. A few hours parking might cost you only a couple euro, but overnight is more like 7.50! At least one of the machines printed blank receipts when I was there; that would be annoying if you used a credit/debit card and wanted to track your expenses. 3) Go to your car, drive to the exit gate, and feed the ticket into the machine that lifts the gate. This hotel is a maze of corridors and room doors. It became a little tedious to travel to and from my room. Our magnetic card room keys quickly stopped working. The reception worker gave me a new card that worked on the third attempt. I suspect the card reader in the door was not working well. They offer a buffet breakfast for 15 euro. I never tried it; it looked a little better than the other breakfasts I'd seen at hotels and B&Bs. Because the hotel is basically in the the airport site, my car rental company's shuttle driver was willing to take me back to this hotel after I returned the car. For some people, this could be a benefit of the location. I stayed mid-June 2015, traveled with family. read more

The Maldron is only a 5 or 10 minute walk from Terminal 2, so easy we didn't even bother with the free shuttle. Our room was clean and comfortable with really hot water in the shower. Customer service was exceptional - I left a bag of knitting in the room and after emailing them about it (without high hopes) they replied quickly, had the bag and posted it to me within a couple of days. I was thrilled, I never expect customer service to be that good these days. Highly recommended. read more

Despite reviews that indicate the hotel has a pool and hot tub, this is not the case. There is a health club next to the hotel that offers a those amenities at a fee. There was only one waiter for 15 people and they forgot about my husbands burger. The room did not have on demand to watch a movie. Which is very understandable, because it was a Sunday and patrons were leaving. People are leaving by large groups. I am aware it can take at least an hour to get a room ready. But our room was not ready until after 12. In the U.S. Hotels make it so the customer is as comfortable as can be. We left the states at 6am Saturday morning and arrived at 8am in Ireland Sunday. Everyone (5) just wanted to lie down and relax. I went up and asked again an hour later, her response no, the room is not ready. I asked the trafalgar person if she could get us a room, she said there was nothing she could do. So all 5 us were sleeping in the lobby. I'm sure it looked great for the hotel as people were gathering and gathering and gathering in lobby. There must have been 50 people in the lobby sitting and waiting. In the states they will have a room ready for you as soon as possible. It will never be over an hour. My son went up another hour later and the receptionist told him the room would be ready after 12. WHY does it take 3 hrs to get 2 rooms ready. Here in the U.S. our hotels try to get you into a room asap. She could have cared less. It is probably your policy. We missed our site seeing trip because we would rather sleep. Very expensive for what you get, we reserved two higher cost "supreme" rooms and was given crappy rooms that were located down a very dirty, dark hallway. The room was not any better, stains everywhere with a moldy smell and just very drab. These rooms were not the ones advertised online, which is really dishonest. After complaining to a worker they said most of the "supreme" rooms were booked and he had the nerve to say our rooms were more expensive than those rooms. If that was true than I would be afraid to see how the "updated" rooms looked like. If you want to be close to the airport go for it but what a waste of money, this is why we now choose to use Airbnb! read more
