In March of 2014 I recieved a notice from the IRS that we had not reported income from an…read moreinvestment account. I was puzzled because the statements come in one envelope and I was sure that is how it was given to the accountant. I suspect the accountant misplaced a reporting page and they think it was not provided. Never the less, I do owe the taxes so that is not the issue. We contacted our tax preparer and he was no longer with the firm. We were handed off to one of the older partners whom we talked to about working with us on getting this issue resolved, that being the penalty and interest. Six months later we find out that nothing had been done and we were then turned over to a young new accountant. As we discussed the penalty and interest question we asked about cost for this service. We were told 300-400 dollars. Well, I knew it wasn't going to be 300 but nearer the 400. Imagine my surprise my wife called about the status and she was told we owed 590 dollars. My wife went directly to the office, paid the bill, and was told they were waiting for the IRS to reply to the letter, supposedly written on our behalf. To date, we have never seen a letter to the IRS or an accounting statement from Fouts and Morgan. I am curious as to whether or not any of it happended. When we started handling this issue ourselves with the IRS, they had no record of correspondence on file regarding the accountant contacting the IRS. We should have handled this issue on our own but I was not confident enough to take this on. As it turned out we got this resolved to our satisfaction and we still do not have any supporting information from the accounting firm Fouts and Morgan. A big fancy office and high dollar rate doesn't necassarily mean you get professional service. Choose your accounting services carefully.

Suntrust is now Truist. The transition was smooth and seamless as a very trusted bank was absorbed…read moreinto the larger body. My first statement under Truist listed a $20 Monthly Maintenance Fee. I had sufficient funds in both savings and checking, so called Customer Service. Because of the fact I do not have a mortgage, credit card, or other loan through Truist, they will now charge me a monthly maintenance fee. $180 per year to use my money to give those loans to earn the interest that keeps their profits rolling. I may earn a few dollars in interest over that same year. The point of personal banking is that your financial institution PAYS YOU for allowing them to use your money on all sorts of profitable investments. To charge you $20 a month because you are not in debt to them is absolutely insane. If your grandma or anyone who may not have these debts to Truist hasn't carefully checked their statements, do them a kindness and protect them. I'm closing my account with them today, and transferring all my funds to a local institution who does not charge me to use my money to make their profits. This is a trend that can not gain any steam.

I went with Linder somewhere around 4 years ago and recently changed. First of all, the comments…read moreabout Rachael are true. She's great. I'll describe the rest of my experience and the reason for the one star rating. I had been with State Farm for probably 20 years but they kept getting worse and worse and I finally decided to make a change. Geoff Linder was recommended to me and he placed me with Erie. I had two claims with Erie, one with an uninsured motorist who caused an accident and then fled the scene when my wife was driving. The other was where my wife scratched the car on our mailbox lid. Erie was great to work with and let me take my car where I wanted to get it repaired. A couple of months ago, I got a call from Rachael saying the agency had decided not to carry Erie any longer. I told her that I really liked Erie and would probably like to stay with Erie but of course I'd be glad to consider a quote from Linder. I contacted Mark Peacock, who is an independent agent who carries Erie for a quote. Mark told me that Erie considered to policy as belonging to the agent not the insured and that I would have to get Geoff Linder to transfer the policy to carry my discounts and my rate lock over. I didn't think that would be a problem since Linder had decided not to carry Erie any longer per Rachael. Geoff and I talked and he refused to transfer the policy. He also told me that Erie had canceled all of their policies, which was true I'm sure, but I thought kind of a deceptive way to put it. I'm sure Erie did cancel all their policies after Linder decided not to carry them any longer. At any rate Erie has agreed to write my policy through Peacock when my policy through Linder ends so it's obvious that they didn't make a blanket decision to cancel all the policies for something the insured did. It's going to cost me money though ONLY because Linder wouldn't transfer my policy. So, I'm being penalized for a decision Linder agency made. Mark Peacock limited the damage a little bit by making a few smart moves, such as pointing out that I only needed rental car coverage on our road trip car since I have 4 cars anyway. He also did a nice job of explaining my coverage to me, which I never really got from Linder.
