If you need help citing your rifle or anything else very educated informed helpful staff. Saw a lot of bad reviews and I have no idea why but I highly recommend it as an outdoor range. Once again, the assistance and professionalism received at this outdoor range is far better than any indoor range around. As soon as we walked in the door we walked right back out. The place looks like a shack. The one in Texas City is absolutely beautiful it stays clean and everybody is extremely friendly. Here it's very small and we looked at the prices and they want $12 per gun that you use it is absolutely ridiculous. The one in Texas City charges you six dollars per person no matter how many guns you bring in there's no way in hell I'm gonna pay these prices. Why people are still coming here supporting this place Just baffles me. We won't be back. read more

This is an excellent gun range. Straightforward process to register and check in. Staff are there to help and enforce safety. Prices are great as well - paid $34 for 3 guns, 2 people with unlimited time at the range. If they sold annual passes, we'd definitely buy them up. Top notch. read more

A very decent gun range. The staff was friendly and helpful (Hunter is a really good guy). The rules are fair and safe. Plenty of distances to shoot at (25y, 50y, 100y and 200y). Prices are quite fair for the accommodations provided, especially because they don't charge by the hour. You can return all day with the same guns and it's just the one payment. Would have given 5 stars if I was able to use my lead sled. There are very annoying barriers preventing high shots, which are fine if you shoot off a block/bag or a bipod. Even with my sled dropped as low as it could go I still couldn't get below this barrier. I definitely recommend this place. If they offered an annual membership I would sign up in a heartbeat. read more

New management, same suckiness. I'd previously been here a few years ago, was spectacularly disappointed, and savaged them on here. But the "new" management wrote a response, and said to try them again. So I decided to give them another shot. Now I wish they'd refund the 2 hours of my life I spent loading up guns, driving there, being ignored at the counter, writing this review, and then driving back. That time would have been better spent watching paint dry, reruns of Oprah, or cat videos on YouTube. I walked in to the dinky shack/office on the range, with a girl behind the counter chit-chatting with a customer. I stood there for about 5 minutes trying to become a customer, staring at them without anyone bothering to ask why I was there, which ironically was to give them a fist-full of dollars, and perhaps leave a positive review on here, so more people would want to give them fists-full of dollars. After being ignored for 5 minutes, I strolled off into the sunset (or more like grey, overcast Texas winter, but I digress). Oh and if you are going to waste your money here, don't forget to wear ear protection when you go into the shack/office. These reincarnations of Einstein leave the door to the shack leading to the range wide open, so you have the option to add some hearing loss as a side-dish to your waste of time. If you like throwing you money away on a crappy range and a crappy experience, this is the place, as they work and move about as hard as frozen molasses to get your business. This range consistantly tries to succed in getting worse. The owner and staff are arrogant and mostly ignorant they now make range users qualify to use their 200yd range even if you've been shooting on that range for years, just another money grab for their failing business. They tried to dress up the shithole that it is but in the end you can't shine shit. I'd give zero stars if I could and a warning to stay far away. read more

I've been to most gun ranges in the houston area some good and some bad, the only one time i went to this place was enough to learn not to go back and here's why; first of all when you walk in to the small office to check in which is like 5 ft from the range you better have some hearing protection on unless you wanna go deaf yeah they leave the backdoor to the range open, also the guy that was at the counter was kind of an ass he didn't even take the time to explain the range rules, basically i had to ask other shooters. Another thing i didn't like was the fact that they make you leave your gun inside the office with them during cease fire, I don't know what that's about but no other range i've ever been to does that. I won't be coming back to this place again. read more

Very reasonably priced! The rifle range is very nice as well as the pistol range. They also have trap shooting, but I did not shoot in that area. Being able to rent a spotting scope is extremely convenient. read more

They dont take care of the range. They are rude. I went last week to sight in a new rifle at 200yds. I couldnt use a lead sled. Their wall comes down way to far. I couldnt even use my 6in bipod. I get that they down want people shooting over their berm but its getting ridiculous. I never fired a round and got up to leave. The lady working the desk said I couldnt get a refund. I could only get a rain check. While I was leaving the lady also demanded to see my license for my suppressor. Nope! Ill give my rain check to someone else! For pistols go to the Arms Room for rifles go to Texas City. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. The staff is very unfriendly, except for one gentleman named Sean. The "range masters" were too busy cuddling up to each other inside the office instead of helping out customers. There are no signs pointing you to the range. Nobody pointed us to the correct range either. These geniuses leave the door to the range wide open, so we're basically having to scream back and forth with the guy behind the counter. read more

Great place-- I have been going to this gun range for 10 years and it's a great place for someone in the area to sight in or practice shooting their rifle at a 100 or 200 yard course. I don't use the pistol range. The people who run the range have their quirks but they get it done. The setup for the rifle and the targets is adequate for my purposes. I have never encountered any safety issues. I like this place and hope that they keep it going. read more

Good range, top notch RSO every time I've been there. They have their rules clearly posted so it is no surprise that guns will be brought in sans case and action open. My only complaint would be the restrictors at the rifle station. They force rifles so close to the bench that a lead sled cannot be used. I understand why they are there but they are a bit of a pain. Bring your own sandbags as what is there is not too good. The price is fair and you are not limited to an hour session. I've been there several times over the last year, will continue to go back, and have had good experiences there. I've been coming here occasionally over the past year or two, and I'm pretty happy with this range. It's definitely worth going to, especially to get some rifle shooting in on their longer ranges. Everyone that I've interacted with at the range always seems pretty friendly, and I've never had trouble with the staff. As long as you follow the rules, they seem to treat you with respect. My problems with the range are the following two issues: 1. They charge extra for extra guns. I would love to be able to bring two handguns and shoot both for just one fee. I understand the intentions of the rule (both discouraging people from showing up with a haul of guns and for charging more for people shooting on both pistol and rifle ranges), but it really is annoying when I just would like to put a few magazines through a second handgun (or rifle) while I'm at the range. 2. Depending who's working, they don't really check that actions are actually open and clear prior to clearing the range during a cease fire. I naturally don't trust other people ever around guns, so I'm always a little concerned that someone left a round in their chamber with the gun pointed down toward the targets. This always has me a little on edge while shooting at this range. Overall, it's a decent option in the Clear Lake area for non-membership shooting. read more

I bring in two match grade rifles and an AR all with high end scopes which have protected cases. The management tells me that cases are not allowed inside the range. What? Can't even bring in my tool bag with my tools? Bench rest? As a professionally sponsored competitive shooter in TSRA, IDPA and IPSC, I will tell you that this is no way to offer friendly customer service or accommodating to a customer with multiple guns. This is not a safety issue either because all guns have action flags inserted to indicate they are inert. I do not recommend this range. read more

Dear god this place was a horrible experience. I was initially hopeful that because the poor reviews were from a while ago that maybe this place had taken in the feed back and improved. Not in the slightest. The office/outhouse is dilapidated and the toilet was overflowing onto the floor, once the staff were notified they simply brushed it off stating "it happens all the time" and kept chatting amongst themselves un-phased. The range "masters" were marching up and down the range berating customers (One worker literally screamed at a customer) and physically taking guns out of their hands to demonstrate how to shot better, which was making everyone feel very uncomfortable because the majority of the customers were obviously not first timers. There are far better quality ranges in that area with well informed, mentally stable employees and working toilets. Also, having a cease fire to go staple your targets at the end of the range is Stone Age and a far less safe option. Skip this place. read more

I'd give them a ZERO if I could. In short, SAFETY. The owners themselves stepped in front of the firing line during live fire (range is hot) to do maintenance on the range, and when we call a seize fire, they chew us out telling us, "Don't be nervous, we're the owners," and told us just to keep shooting. When the range safety officers tell us we are right, and the shop personnel have free shoot vouchers waiting for us before we ever make it to the door, you know this is a repeat issue. Both my buddy and I, NRA Certified Range Safety Officers, and me a former fed certified as a firearms instructor, realized how ridiculous their attitude towards safety is we left immediately and will never be back. If we had done the same thing, to pick up a dropped magazine or box of ammo, we would have been kicked out, no doubt. We will not be back to this range. I would rather go an extra hour out of my way to shoot at American Shooting than here, ever again. read more

My 1st time here and i must say i like the outdoor RANGE atmosphere over the indoor. Got a chance to test out my Grandpa's old 22 Mag and I had an awesome customer service experience from Greg. He managed to show me afew things on the rifle that I was not aware of and the man is passionate about his job and helping out others which is what I like to see when it comes to Customer Service. Definitely not the best range in town, but for the price, it will do just fine. The range is usually in shambles, its just a well used kind of place. But for the most part the staff is very friendly, I've been there about a half dozen times, and they are welcoming, clear and take their work seriously. The RSO (whichever employee is attending the front desk) calls a cease fire every half hour, they give clear instructions on when to go down range (hint: don't leave your targets on the bench). When you go downrange to set up your targets, look at the ground and there should be a number, its kind of hidden, but that letter will correspond with which bench you should take. Its not very clear, and it took me 3-4 times before I figured that out. All in all; nice staff, kind of run down facilities, follow the rules and have a great day slingin lead! read more

Don't go here. Spend your money somewhere else - these guys don't want your business. The old clown behind the counter has the worst attitude I've ever seen in a service business. I brought my daughter there for her first trip to the range. He was so rude and abrasive that he ruined the experience for her. The staff seemed friendly, but then again I only dealt with a female. This range is very old, very tired, and very lax. I asked what the rules were and she rattled couple of things. She did not cover the protocol of the cease fire and we had to figure it out the hard way when I left the new targets on the bench! The pistol side was awful, only half the lanes had screens separating the shooters and the others did not. So this meant their rounds like ours was flying into the people to right! We were also not that comfortable standing so close to other shooters with no protection between us, we were just a foot or two away from each other. Lastly, I'm 6'3" and could not shoot there since the roof's framing was in my line of sight. After just a few rounds my slide hit the wood and that was after I had to take an awkward squatting stance!! There was mud everywhere down range as well. So we will not be going back ever. The outdoor range we are accustomed to had a Range Master with a clear view of all shooters as well as a team of observers watching over only a few lanes at a time as to catch and stop the mishandling of firearms. Much more of a safe and comfortable shooting environment that made you feel safe. If your a shooter that likes clean and controlled ranges this is NOT the place for you. read more

The place isn't the best range, BUT for how close it is and the price it's wonderful. The staff is very polite and they actually check the firing line before letting you down range. Which is very reassuring compared to most outdoor ranges that just call it from a shack. They have some strict rules, but the rules are simple. One, never let your barrel point over the top of your target. (There are houses on the other side of the berm.) Two, you are not aloud to return to the firing table until the range is hot. (Clearly there are people down range.) That simple. Also it's not hard to find but the entrance is off of tuscans lakes blvd. and it's labeled Gun range rd. read more

The place has a little age on it but this is the first time I've been there and the folks were very nice and helpful. My thoughts are if you are trying to learn to shoot it's not bad to have non perfect conditions because if you are using your gun for protection criminals aren't going to assault you in perfect conditions so there it is. If you want perfect conditions to shoot don't go here. If you want to learn to shoot period it's a good place to go. It's close to me so that's a good point and I've seen people bitch about the road to the range. Come on y'all it's a dirt road and not bad. Maybe a little washboard but may keep people from hauling ass down the road. It's the first time on an outdoor range which I think is better also so my experience was A+. I'll be back. read more

I've been going here for a year and a half and all of my experience with the range staff has been pleasant and positive. Al Trug taught my CHL class and was very informative and even entertaining. I enjoyed it and got along with Al quite well, as I do to this day. The other shooters I meet there are, for the most part, very nice and helpful if I have questions or problems. I've also had the opportunity to help out some new shooters myself from time to time. As long as you follow the safety rules the atmosphere is laid back and relaxed. I like the place. I go to the shooting range often (weekly) and this range is the one I frequent most. Objectively, this range is OK - but is a long way from being good. Positives: - The range offers a broad spectrum of shooting options (Pistol up to 25 yds, Rifle up to 200 yds, Shotgun trap/skeet/target) - It is the closest range for most people in southeast Houston who are not members of PSC (I am not). Negatives: - The service and overall operation of this range is hit-or-miss, depending on when you come. I have been here with great service when the range is very efficient... but I have seen just as many instances when the opposite is true. - The range facilities get the job done, but it is clear that they do "just enough" to keep people coming back. (This becomes immediately clear as you drive up the pot-hole filled gravel road to get to the entrance...) Overall, if you want a range that is close and has several shooting options to choose from - come here. If you want nice, drive further to some of the other options in the area. read more

Great place to go sight your guns in and friendly staff. They bent over backwards to helps us get a gun sighted in tonight. They took the time to help us remount the scope after having to get the right rings. The girls that work there are very professional and helpful. They explain anything you need to know and help you get settled in. They are super friendly and a great atmosphere.I would recommend this place to all who ask for a gun range. read more

After showing up right at opening to get a few hours on the range, my dad, brother and I were all treated like a bunch of criminals because Al couldn't read my brothers driver's license number. My brother offered to rewrite it but Al would not let him, instead opting to ask him number by number, "Are you sure that is a 2?" Not only was it demeaning, but I have never in my life met anyone who was so hateful for no reason. He got about halfway through the number before we decided to leave, and while we were packing up to walk out the door he had the nerve to yell after us to never come back. It is not fair to the decent people who work there but I will never, ever waste my time there again, and I hope that knowing that such a mean spirited old man who is willing to tell my dad, a customer of over 30 years, to never come back is enough to let you know that it is a "business" that does not deserve yours. read more
