My girlfriend and I came to Best Shot Range during our Houston vacation, and it blew us away! It was our FIRST TIME shooting rifles, and the staff made us feel totally safe, welcome, and confident. (HIDDEN GEM!) Compared to other ranges like Marksman (saw people broke in to car when we were there at Marksman), this place is on another level. The customer service is top-tier -- friendly, patient, and super knowledgeable. Most of the staff are Army vets, and you can tell. They guided us every step, gave helpful tips, and treated us with real respect. If you're new or just looking for a solid range, this is the spot. We'll definitely be back! The place is close to Clear Lake area. It is $16 to use the pistol range. Each target is $1. So all in all it is well-priced. Although I brought my own bullets so I don't know about that price. All you need is your DL and to sign a waiver (for first timers). The staff is friendly and the place is nice. Bathrooms are clean. Went on a weekday afternoon and it was empty. So my very first time visiting and I must say that I had a very different experience then what I was dreading. I was thinking it was gonna be outdoors and have lots of bullet shells discarded on the floor where I have to walk on on them but it wasn't the case. First of all it was indoors and the staff were very good at being able to maintain their sweeping duties while the guests were working on their fire arms and aims. I was grateful for the head phones and eye piece wear even though I have eye glasses ( prescription) . Over all I will be coming back. Best shot is a great, affordable, and safe. Very polite and informative staff. I received a 1-1 "Learn to shoot" course here yesterday. Sydney, my instructor was terrific. The course was allotted for 60 minutes, and we packed every minute in with vital information. *I BROUGHT MY OWN FIREARM & AMMO* but believe they will provide it with the course fee. She covered several topics such as gun design and schematics. Gun storage and safety. The variety of calibers, their bullets, and the differences between them all. There was a hands on portion where I would mirror her instruction to unload ammo safely, reload it, eject a bullet(s), and operation of the safety's; in the process. Following the 1-1 instruction and procedures we proceeded to the gun range. It is very loud and disruptive- ITS A GUN RANGE, so be adequately prepared and expectant of this. My awesome instructor was there to advise and "hold my hand" while I followed through the instruction we went over. I shot 60 rounds at various distances with different targets as Sydney evaluated my shooting, my hand 'jumps'/snaps and how to improve. Although I'm somewhat proficient with a gun, this course was extremely reassuring with an abundance of caution & safety- which should be PARAMOUNT for anyone handling a firearm or even near one. I would HIGHLY recommend this class for any novice shooters, younger people, elderly, or simply anyone who is curious about shooting and gun safety. Will be back, often. read more

Friendly staff, affordable range fees, good hours, great facilities, and really clean bathrooms (for those that have had bad experiences with that issue). They do pretty much everything you'll need. When I shoot my handgun I will not go to this range, I can go to Marksman for half the price. But when I want to let some 5.56 round fly I will be coming back. It's a pretty nice range. Price was reasonable, it was well lit and ventilated. My only problem was that there was no sound dampening anywhere. I like that the bay walls went all the way to the ceiling, the equipment and range was in great condition, good backdrop/burm, and another nice touch was the fact that the pistol range was air conditioned. Pros: price, 20 dollars for two people. I've never been there for more than an hour, normally I get bored by then since I just go with my boyfriend. The lobby area is clean, it has become a little cluttered because of all the beretta retail stuff though but still ok. There are tables in the lobby so you can prepare whatever you need before going in. Restroom is clean and tidy and roomy. I mainly go here because it is close, it is cheaper than other places that are still further away and I haven't run into anyone obnoxious yet. All the other customers there have been either friendly or courteous. Cons: Noise. It is LOUD in there. Yes, I realize guns are loud, but there's not anything to help with the noise control at all so it just sits in the air when you are in the range area. I am a very quiet person overall and so I don't like that. Not the cleanest inside the range but I don't mind that part much (in other words, look at the price). The separators between each lane should be a little bit taller. They are like flaps, sort of. But the problem is when someone shoots a gun and it pops the shell out to the side and upward, it goes directly into the next person on your right's lane and lands right onto them. Seen it happen a bunch of times and last time I was there too. Not all guns do this, but I think they should have higher "flaps" to separate the lanes. And just something to be aware of if someone taller than you is shooting in a lane next to you. Target holders a little floppy but they work. Chairs behind the lanes are nice for people taking turns in a lane or waiting on their partner to finish, etc. read more

Have been a regular at this range since it first opened. My new A15 rifle first shot went high ..put about a 1/32" inch nick at very top of target steel frame holder. Their new rules state this infraction will cost $75.00. ..they charged me $ 75.00 plus sales tax. I feel ripped off but rules are rules ....common sense would have been better since there was no damage that would interrupt the use of the shooting lane. Doubt that I will ever go back remembering the rip off in place of common business sense. This may be the incentive needed to open up a competitive shooting range in Friendswood and treat people fairly with common sense as a bonus. read more

Really like this gun range for its friendly staff, cleanliness, overall appearance, and knowledgeable staff. Took my family for our family fun day. First time shooting for our 2 son's. They both did very well. Thank you Best Shot for allowing me as a dad a place to teach my kids proper gun safety and handling. My Dad taught me and now I'm able to teach my kids. The cost is worth the use of the facility. Cost me less to go shooting then watch the latest movie release. So with such a great sounding review why only 4 stars you might ask? Pretty disappointed. Sent my hubby here for his birthday. They shot off some guns. We're given the wrong ammo for the AK, so thank goodness only shot off one bullet before someone realized. But they checked out and left. The next day they called and said he didn't pay? But yes he did and we had proof in our bank statement, then they said oh you paid someone else's s bill you still owe us 30 bucks. Come pay us, so that's what he's going to do! to be honest they should've just called it even. After the wrong amo crap and their employees ringing up the wrong bill? Ridiculous!! Pros: Staff is helpful, prices are fair, and their reloads are quality and in-expensive. They have a decent selection of rental guns, and the price is great ($8 for unlimited handguns). Cons: Ventilation is very poor. The worst I've seen. Target hangers are wobbly, and the place is LOUD. Most ranges have some amount of sound absorbing material to help with the DB level. Not only is there no sound insulation to speak of, but they use a lot of sheet metal so in addition to the report you also have a very loud and shrill echo that lasts for a second after each shot. I go there often because it's convenient and fairly priced, but I wish they'd improve a few things about the range itself. read more

Went in to shoot a brand new gun. I had asked for .45 ammo and went to shoot the first round which got jammed on the first shot. We were in the rifle range by ourselves with no staff to help us. After fighting around for 20 minutes trying to get the gun unjammed and figure out why it had gotten instantly stuck on a brand new gun, I realized they had given me the wrong type of ammo. They did fix the issue as soon as I brought it to their attention (which I'm quite surprised they didn't voluntary come out to the lane after seeing us having trouble on the lane cameras) but slightly disappointed that they would make that kind of mistake at a gun range. read more
