There are many trails of various skill levels available at this natural area and is a popular area for hiking and mountain biking. Dogs are not allowed in this natural area, so be sure to not bring fido with you. There is not a fee to come and enjoy the property. It is closed December through february so be sure to not come during this period. There are 2 separate trailhead parking lots, a north and south. There are bathrooms at the trailhead and also trashcans. It is a very well kept pristine property. There are not many trees so be conscientious about what season you go in. If in hotter months, you will want to be sure to be prepared. My first visit was today, we had a fresh snow. We were the only ones in the parking lot and we were breaking trail the entire morning. The snow was glistening on the hillside and sparkly snow was coming down from the sky. The views along the way were truly very beautiful. We saw a heard of antelope on our drive in to the trailhead. Also in the distance saw a herd of bison. Have heard rattlesnakes are very prominent in the area. Very beautiful and will definitely be back in the future! Maybe next time to try mountain biking.

This trail is found off the road that would take you up to red feather lakes. Just past the Forks…read moregas station on the left hand side. After you turn left you will drive down a winding dirt road for a bit to get there. Thankfully the times i have visited it has not been overly busy. Which is nice. You dont find that on a lot of the trails in northern colorado. Everything around here always seems to have a lot of people, dogs, mountain bikes. sometimes you just want some solitude. Dogs and horses are allowed here. Bikes are not. There are bathrooms and trash cans at the parking lot and dog poop bags at teh trail head. For half the year, this trail is 5.3 miles long. It makes a figure 8. For the other half of the year, they close about half the trail for nesting eagles so the trail will only be around 2.5 miles long. So be sure to check the season if you are wanting a long hike. Of course any time of year, nothing says you can not just do the first loop of 2.5 miles and call it a day. There is 1 tree along this entire trail. It is very open. With gorgeous views. But this is not a trail you want to do in 100 degree weather. As with any trail it is a good idea to bring water with you. Even more so if you have dogs. This trail is home to rattle snakes so be sure to be snake aware if you go during snake season. I would personally call this trail moderate skill level. I believe i have clocked around 900 feet of elevation gain when i have done this one the last couple of times. At one point you do cross a river. You actually go over it on a bridge, but if your dogs need to get down there to cool off that is a good place to do it. it is right before you start the 2nd loop. On the 2nd loop depending on the time of year you may find yourself around a lot of cows who are out grazing. This is a lovely local hike in our area. If you have not checked it out it is worth trying at least once.

But it really is too beautiful not to share. I would disagree with the previous reviewer about its difficulty. I should disclose, I have only ever hiked the loop but would rate it as moderate if you are a fairly active person. If you start down the right side, you will be hiking on a cow path for half the distance. However, there is zero shade on that side. In the heat of the summer, you should remember to bring plenty of water and perhaps avoid midday. The scenery here is just gorgeous though and you are unlikely to encounter crowds like at Grey Rock or Horsetooth. On a weekday, you may have the place all to yourself! Dogs and horses are allowed on this trail but mountain bikes are not. Parking is free and there are vault toilets at the trailhead. Enjoy!!

It doesn't offer the best views, but it gives you a feeling for the city. It connects a few parks, passes commercial areas, and ends up in Downtown near the Depot Plaza. I only went halfway when I reached a baseball field and a busy strip of Dell Range Rd. I think it is roughly 7 miles from end to end. The address is for Mylar Park, which has a nice parking lot with a pond and picnic area and conveniently joins the greenway.

We paid to feed the bison, not realizing they would give you food for free on the train ride. That was a bit frustrating, but you can add the food they pass around to your bag so you have plenty to give to the bison. Our kids had a fantastic time and it was a lot of fun feeding the bison on the train. I think this is a great activity to do in the area with kids and it was definitely a highlight in our trip. The gift shop was fun to visit on our way out. Highly recommend!

The Terry Bison Ranch is the only place I have ever heard about where you can hand feed Bison. They also have other things to do here. We got here an hour and a half before our train departed and we have plenty to do. They have lots of animals on this ranch from full grown ostriches and baby ones, a long horn cow, plenty of chickens, baby bison that you can pet, lots of horses, goats, and much more. On the ride over to feed the bison, they had a train robbery reenactment which was fun. The whole train ride takes about an hour to make sure to use the restrooms before getting on. It's a great place to bring kids. Prices were reasonable. $20 per adult $10 for kids to ride the train and $10 for bison feed which is a must. They give you a decent amount of food in the bag. No reservations needed you can buy tickets at the general store. There they have plenty of souvenirs to buy and can answer any questions you may have. An easy day trip from Denver. If you are on a roadtrip I'd recommend stopping here if you are heading to Wyoming from Colorado or vice versa.

Primarily the park is used for Girl's Softball that I know of, and it definitely fills a needed area for that use. It could use some TLC from the local community though. A parking lot would go a long way, and possibly a newer restroom facility. It would be nice if the VFW could partner with the city, and manage it like a city park as well as connecting it to the Greenway path that is just south of it. A little elbow grease, and some funding would do wonders for this park and the memorial garden across the dirt street.
