The owner was here and actually did more than I expected when he repaired some badly rotted soffit. During the initial visit, I advised them that I was aware that two underground drains were plugged. When they completed the job, they insisted that all the underground drains are plugged, plus the connection is below ground and they are not going to dig to get to it to remove the " connection and install a 6", so all drains now run off to the ground. There was one specific run that the gutter had a reverse slope. I advised them that that was important to me because that was where most of the actual run off was occurring. When they finished the same section had a revers slope. I will give credit that they came out a few time to address this. One time the employees walked around and did nothing. Another time the employees got on ladders but when they left the gutter had the same slant. Finally after complaining they came out and bent a foot of drain to run down the spout. It's difficult to give a rating when part of a job is done well and part is not so good. I considered giving one or two starts but I want to be generous. If the job is uncomplicated they will perform well. In my case, not so well.

As a new homeowner, we did want to make sure that the fireplaces were in good working condition before we actually started using them so we requested a estimate on what the service and maintenance could potentially be for the fireplaces that we had in our house and any recommendations that they would have. When reached out after a week , they told me it would cost $510 to remove the downspout, plug the hole in the gutter, and redirect that gutter to another downspout. I was willing to move forward with this work, but I was really discouraged by their lack of communication. I thought there had to be at least one company with good reviews who would respond in a timely way, so I decided to check the companies advertising to us by mail. Of those, only one company had consistently positive reviews online -- J.R. England. My experiences working with J.R. England could not have been more different than the negative and confusing interactions I had or read about with other companies. Kate and Ryan are a husband and wife team. Kate responded to me in under an hour, visited our home the next morning, and completed a series of estimates for me before the end of business hours that day. I was impressed by her responsiveness, knowledge, generosity, and demeanor. Similarly, Ryan completed the repair a day after I approved the estimate, and he was friendly and forthcoming with his expertise -- never intimidating, condescending, or pushy. Every interaction we had with the company was positive. From the salesman, to the office staff, to the installers every interaction was positive. After contracting with them, I had several phone conversations with them about color changes that my wife wanted, and they were always willing to accommodate us, and make the requested changes. There was a slight misunderstanding about the bathroom window on the day they showed up to begin the job but a phone call to the office quickly resolved the issue, and things progressed as planned. The workers were polite, and they treated our property with care & respect. Once the job was complete, they walked the perimeter of our house and garage with magnets to pick up loose pieces of metal, and any other debris that was laying around.
