We had Adrian and Giovanni for the tours and just had a blast! They really treat you well and accommodate the tours to your style. It's like your just hanging out with some old friends. Your not just doing these awesome adventures - we also learned about the Puerto Rican culture, ancestry history, and they gave great restaurant recommendations. We rented a car but some other people on our tour group were picked up by Verdeazul for the adventures. Adrian even helped us get connected to a vet when we found a sato (Puerto Rican slang for a street mutt)! We have the most memorable memories from this trip thanks to the guys at Verdeazul! We strongly suggest booking something through them and would recommend it to all our friends and family. They take all the photos for you and email them to you so you don't have to worry about trying to capture the moment and enjoy it at the same time. Not to be missed!

We decided to book a kayaking tour, but I wish we would have paddle boarded but kiddos didn't want. Anyway, as I mentioned the owner was awesome when we arrived. Brian our guide on the tour was super laidback. Was trying to find things to point out during our tour and wasn't invasive at all. Allowed us space to enjoy the beautiful scenery as a family. We stopped for a bit at a swing and the kids had a blast. Some dude told confronted Brian about some permit, which brian told me later they of course had, but Brian played it cool and let the man say his piece and he went on his way. Really a memorable experience. Amazing views of cliffs on the way back. Thanks to Scott and Brian for the experience. We will see y'all next time for sure

We were told that they have closed this area to the public now as it was disrespected after a viral tik tok video, people were trashing it, parking anywhere, and destroying the land. So now the owner has closed it and has this tour company to take people in to crowd control and make sure the land isn't trashed. I'm glad we went because it was only 4 of us and the tour guide! We took our time walking through the rivers, looking in caves, kayaking, and hiking. It was a quiet and calm adventure. So beautiful! The tour guide was also awesome! He found unique plants, flowers, bugs, and birds to highlight. The offered a ride to the location, life vests, and helmets. Everything else is up to you to bring- water, snacks. If we come back for vacay we may do this again!

They didn't refund me saying that there was Paypal issue they needed to wait until quarantine is over. It's been 2 years now they've been ignoring my messages on Facebook/ messenger. They steal people's money and all you can do is to leave them bad reviews. From Ragan Owen on Google review: "If I could give zero stars I would. Do not, do not, do not go here! This place is a total scam. I booked tickets to this excursion with some other people. I paid a total of $180 for everyone, we booked it the day before we were scheduled to go. The same day we booked it we got a text message that night from the guy saying it's canceled due to bad weather and that we had one year to use the voucher. We responded instantly and told him we did not want to use it because we were on vacation and leaving the next day, and asked for a refund. He did not text us back at all. The next day and every day after we texted and called constantly!!!!!!! We never ever ever ever heard a response back. He literally took our money, canceled and would not return our calls or messages. I ended up having to call my bank for a reimbursement."

There is a parking lot nearby, but I highly suggest coming early as the location is a bit hard to find. They do have a restroom in their little shack that you can use before boarding the boat. Our Captain and his nephew (?) were very knowledgeable and kind. He told us not only about the bioluminescent plankton, but some of the history of Puerto Rico as well. As we were on the boat to the bay, he told us about the houses destroyed by the hurricane a few years ago as well as some celebrity homes, like Red Sox baseball player, David Ortiz. When we got to the actual bay, it was completely dark. This is the only location where you can actually swim in the bay. Kayaks, paddles, and a life vest were all provided to us. They also offered us water and soda, which was very nice. They gave us ample time to swim around and even helped everyone get on their kayak. We were in a group of about 10 people so it was not very crowded. The skies were also so dark that you could see the Milky Way. For $75 a person, this was definitely a once in a lifetime experience that picture could not capture!

We chose to do the El Yunque/BioBay combo tour. First you're picked up directly from the hotel around 9:30 am. They come straight to the lobby. You will be in a rather small shuttle and depending on how large your group is it may get cramped and stuffy in the shuttle vehicle. Lucky for me we had a great group that was a lot of fun. We really bonded in such a short period of time. First stop is El Yunque national rainforest. On the drive to the rainforest you watch a film that previews some of what you will be seeing in person and gives some historical info. Cruz brought us up to the very highest part of the rainforest so that we could hike mostly downward which is a hell of a lot easier and less strenuous. I recommend water shoes for the hike. You will stop at a waterfall and get a chance to swim around which was definitely the highlight of the day! After you leave El Yunque you stop at a strip mall of authentic Puerto Rican food stands. You eat (own expense) for about an hour and then go to a really nice beach for another hour and a half. After that you will be driven to the marina where you will start your kayaking. At this point the BioBay is run by a separate company. So I can't really include them in this review. All I will say is that the BioBay is not what you think it is if you have ever googled pictures of it. That's definitely not what you will be seeing on this tour. After you return from kayaking your original tour guide drops you back off at your hotel. All in all it's an exhaustive 12 hour day but it is an amazing experience and well worth the money!

WITHOUT A PADDLE…read more Kayaking during the day proving too easy?  How about kayaking at night...through a mangrove forest. As my wife and I planned our second trip to Puerto Rico, we agreed that a bio bay kayak tour should be on the list.  Only 5 biobays exist in the world, 3 of which are in PR (in Vieques, La Parguera, and here on the far northeast corner of the island).  There's a few kayaking tour companies in the area, each offering a similar bioluminescent excursion. Hang on, biolu-what?  I'll skip the TED talk--all you need to know is that a certain kind of marine plankton makes the water in extra salty lagoons glow blue.  It's the same science that gives jellyfish, fireflies, and deep-sea anglerfish their special ability to produce light. When we arrived around 8pm, tour guides gave our group of 15-20 life vests and provided instructions, like what to do if your ass falls out of the kayak.  Our goal was Laguna Grande (literally "big lagoon"), roughly 1 mile from our starting point on the shores of Fajardo. So......getting to Laguna Grande is not easy.  Along with a partner, you'll paddle your way through a narrow channel surrounded on all sides by thick mangroves, including an overhead canopy.  This is tricky during daylight hours, but at night the difficulty ramps up.  Keep in mind that visibility in these thick mangrove patches drops to near-zero at times. You might (probably will) have to avoid other kayak groups and (possibly) motorboats as you make your way to the lagoon, all while trying not to crash into the person in front of you, fall too far behind, or be knocked unconscious/impaled by low branches.  The outbound trip was not super chill, thankfully coming back was less stressful. Having an experienced partner is CRUCIAL. Bio bay tours are very much like whale watching, in that your visit is based almost entirely on luck.  A lot needs to go right in order to see magic stuff in the water, like the moon being in its 'new' phase (full moon casts too bright of a reflection) and no recent rainfall (rain comes down as fresh water, decreasing the lagoon's salinity). Under ideal circumstances, the microorganisms appear as florescent blue swirls when you move your hand/paddle through the water.  What we saw were closer to electrical 'sparks', still cool but not vibrant.  Capturing what little bio-presence we saw on camera would've been impossible, so we smartly kept our phones in the car. Oddly enough, mosquitos weren't a problem. * TL;DR * For me, this was more about the journey than the destination. If I'd hung all of my hopes on seeing tons of bioluminescent activity, I would've been disappointed.  I was focused more on trying not to capsize while also listening to the symphony of 'coqui' (the local island tree frog). It can be romantic with a spouse/partner, assuming they're not yelling at you the whole time. Wear comfy clothes (swim trunks aren't a bad idea) and be aware that parts of your outfit will be crunchy the next day, due to the lagoon water being twice as salty as the ocean. Mangroves play a critical role in the tropical ecosystem, but they stink! Would definitely recommend this to anyone over the age of 18; it's an awesome late-night adventure and one of the most unique things you can do while in Puerto Rico.
