    Where to catch a wave....

I got to know Jobos as I took an intro surfing class by Aloha Surf. Outstanding well kept and maintained beach in Isabela. Soft white sand. Lots of palm trees for shade and half of the beach is protected from the surf by the cove and rocks. Only minor complaint is the parking -- $5 is reasonable for the day -- but the potholes - que locura! Sheer madness. Would definitely come back and try to find a better parking situation.

Lovely beach. Went on a weekday when less people were around and it was clear blue and gorgeous. Friday and weekends are more crowded. You can park along the main road and walk over.

Very beach like, with a big surfer community! Lots of options for food, arrive early especially on wknds because it gets crowded and parking is a hassle. Make sure you park facing the correct direction as they are ticketing for wrong "way" parking along the strip. In many parts of the island you can park on the street facing whichever direction but some towns are changing this freedom of parking, Isabela is one of these towns!

Great place to surf, swim, sit by the beach, or grab something to eat. Lots of people offer surf lessons and a worker at the Moku surf shop does henna tattoos!

    Awesome experience and beautiful scenery!

Beautiful beach, great atmosphere, but dangerous currents! Nice restaurants. And great vibes.

It required a rental car and an early morning drive to get from Condado to Jobos Beach in Isabela, but it was one of the highlights of my time in PR. It was so cool to spend time at this beach which is much smaller and way less touristy than anything near our hotel. My husband set up a private surf lesson with a local who showed him the best waves and gave him general pointers on the surf conditions there. Meanwhile I had a quiet, peaceful spot on the beach all to myself to enjoy the warm water, great views, and a good book. The neighborhood surrounding is rustic and filled with little local spots - no huge resorts or cheesy chain restaurants that I could see. We got a great recommendation on a restaurant nearby from the surf instructor and just made a day of it. I can't speak for the nightlife but I saw several beachside bars that probably make for a fun scene at nights and on weekends. One thing to note: several locals and the surf instructor all warned us about an extremely dangerous part of the coast where a lot of people have been taken out by vicious tides. I'm more of a toe-dipper when it comes to the ocean, but if you're an aggressive swimmer, body boarder, or surfer who's out there without a local guide, I'd really watch out for that spot and the painful coral you could be slammed into!

If you saw the Anthony Bourdain No Reservations, PR episode you know the story about the man who lost his cow through an ocean blowhole; well, this is the beach Anthony visited. On a fine Sunday afternoon we happened to stumble on this place while looking for the blowhole. Not wanting to look like tourists, we didn't take any pictures till we were in the car leaving. THIS is where the party happens on a Sunday afternoon, and the locals start to get a little loose as the alcohol flows and the day wears on. One the ocean side is, of course, the beach. On the inland side is a strip of permanent food stands which fry the hell out of everything and chase it down with cheap beer and soda. Loud, crowded and lots of fun. This strip is a car show unto itself, with the brightly-painted lowriders and all, with pumpin' speakers to draw attention. There's lots of class here, much of it low, so don't come down here if you can't hang with that. No high maka makas here, as the Hawaiian brahs would say. The crescent beach forms some nice, clean waves - up to 15 foot or more I hear. The little kids run all around when the mommas let 'em off their leashes. *** Party on Welfare Island *** Woohoo***

    Little shop!

Little beach right on the coast. The beach has public restrooms, a bar, a food shack, and a little store which sells things like souvenirs and floaters. The drinks were good, but not anything special. Their speciality is a frozen coconut with rum. The bar was a typical outside bar, but the bartender is EXTREMELY slow. They had Icies for the kids along with many food options. Since I am gluten free, I could only have the rice which was super cheap (about a $1-$1.50) and super yummy! I could've eaten it all day. As for the beach itself, I did not go swimming, but my cousin went surfing and said the beach/water was great. There are very few tables with umbrellas, so I advise you to bring your own. There is a huge parking lot with an mr softy ice cream truck.

As of August 2025, this hike is OVERGROWN and not clearly marked, imho. The info board says that it takes 30-min but it took us 45-min one-way. - You need to have closed toe shoes and sufficient water. I think one thing is about managing your expectations which may not be fully shown disclosed in certain tik tok videos: - The view is descent, but the waves are aggressive. - The beach is not crowded since it is a bit off the beaten path - BUT does it really worth packing two types of shoes (sportswear and beachwear), 90-min hiking in the jungle, and risks of washing away by aggressive waves. Overall, I'd NOT recommend this beach to my friends unless he/she is adventurous and physically fit.

Having followed Anthony to the Tiki Bar in Hawaii, and other places, and having preceded him to Popotla Beach in Baja, and other places, we were determined to find the Isabela blowhole. In typical fashion, Mr. Bourdain was a little cryptic about his locations, and that didn't help. We searched and searched and searched and finally found the blowhole. A sign would come in handy, but noooooooooo. The Isabela Blowhole is located in a rocky and sandy shoreline area called Baño La Princesa, which is just north of Jobos Beach. You park at the bottom by the beach restaurants and you walk up the hill - and there it is. But it wasn't blowin'. Blowholes can be that way. To work their best magic, they need a high tide, a decent swell and strong winds. Oh yes, and a hole or two in the rock. Hawaii does good blowholes with that lava rock. The blowholes I currently remember seeing are: Spouting Horn, west of Poipu, Kauai; Halona Blow Hole, south end of Sandy Beach, Oahu; Nakalele Blow Hole, West Maui; La Bufadora, north of Ensanada, Baja MX, and; the Kiama Blowhole south of Sydney, Australia (up to 60 meters high). Maybe I'm a blowhole groupie. It's beginning to sound that way. Sorry my pictures suck on this one. Blurry and all. When it 'aint blowin', what do you really take a picture of anyway?
