The attack left me with some pretty intense PTSD which piled on some childhood traumas I had yet to address. approximately 6 months after the attack I started experiencing the effects of PTSD & having been in weekly therapy w/o improvement already it was suggested to me by the NY state Office of Victims Services that I consider a trauma intensive which includes 8 hours of 1-1 therapy for up to 10 days in a row. At first I was apprehensive, I worried it would be overwhelming but after talking to Dr. Greenwald (sp) I thought it couldn't hurt to try since other options were not working. I was given the name of a person in one of the Carolinas & then Elizabeth Davis in buffalo, I contacted Elizabeth first because she was closest. After doing a video chat session with her I felt comfortable going forward. Prior to my traveling out there, we had several video sessions (some of which the weekly therapist that I was working with participated in). Both of us were impressed with Elizabeth's knowledge, insight & intuition. As time went on & I felt more comfortable we ended up scheduling our first week. I first traveled to buffalo & did 6 days in February 2017 then later that summer I went back out for another 5 days & finally the last 5 days in January 2018. I spent a total of 16 days with her & it made HUGE difference in the level of distress my PTSD was causing me. I won't lie, it was intense... this work isn't for the weak & you have to be ready to trust her professional judgement & engage openly to have a positive outcome. I definitely struggled the most after my fist visit but throughout the year we worked together I would return home where I continued working with my therapist, as well as having weekly sessions via video with Elizabeth. It was the times in between the intensives that often lead to new insights that I was able to work with during the intensives. I was blessed in that I already had a great therapist who worked closely with Elizabeth & together they were able to support my healing process in a profound way. I wouldn't say this type of treatment is for everyone, you need to be an educated consumer; you need to have a realistic understanding of what your getting into; you need to be able to employ personal accountability for your own growth and actions & most of all you need to be stable enough to manage the distress that may come up during the down time when you can't access the therapist. In my case, my biggest worry was related to that last one, like "what will I do if I have a emotionally tough day & I need support afterwords" I knew I would be in a hotel in a strange town. To offset any potential issues, I took some things with me (books, journals ect.) I also had friends & my therapist from home on backup should I need additional support. This worked well & made the process much more manageable. Needless to say, I would HIGHLY recommend this treatment IF you have done your homework & you understand what you're signing up for. I would suggest asking as many questions as you can think of, I was able to do this with Elizabeth via email & she was always receptive. I would also say that as a general rule... if you think you know more than your therapist than you should find someone else to work with because you're not likely to follow advice &/or have a positive outcome. Medical services are tricky, it's not like buying clothing where you can return the pants that don't fit that's, you can't return therapy, the therapist has taken time away from others to work with you so it's important to do your homework in advance & it's also up to you to speak to your needs if you don't think it's helping. I hope my review helps offset some on the claims being shared by this other individual & I'm more than happy to answer questions if anyone wants to PM me & I can even provide copies of my bills (for sessions with her & my hotel stays) so you all know I'm not some fake reviewer making all of this up.

The patient was loud obnoxious and not letting the staff and owner help her. I am absolutely amazed at how calmly the staff was and the owner to talk this patient down and have her continue with her visit. This was a first for me. The office is very spacious, clean, with private rooms and many different types of equipment that I only took pictures of because I myself have never used them. The staff is extremely patient, respectful and go above and beyond for their patients. I have another apt Friday in their Southwick office.

I went to Attain and I never felt they had my best interest with them. Their were times when I would lay on the table and I was told to do these certain sets. I stared at the PT the whole time. She did know if I did 10 or 50. Then I got a doing great Darlene! One time they were short staffed and had their secretary or office staff telling me what I needed to do, and she actually was critizing what I was doing. What kind of a place is this? They seemed bored, a lack of personality and to be honest since I have left I have spoken to at least 5 people who went there and felt as I did. I also felt that I because I was older, and that they did not really listen to what I had to say, I heard the age thing from those 5 other people. As if I had nothing to say or it was not a big deal. I got away from them fast and found a much better place where it is one on one and people who have had many more years experience and where I made huge strides. that in itself says it all. I call Attain the physical therapy factory place. I guess if you did not know better you would accept it. To me it was apples and oranges, they were ridiculous!

I had called Neuropsychology Associates after my psychiatrist referred me to them for an ADHD…read moreevaluation. I called them in early December, 2021 and gave them all my information, including what insurance I had. They said they'd call me back, but I didn't hear from them again until mid-January 2022, when the receptionist apologized and told me my file had gotten misplaced and she had just stumbled across it. My psychiatrist must've sent over my records because during that phone call in January, she told me that since I was already on Wellbutrin (it's for depression and I'm not sure why it matters anyway since it hasn't been approved as an ADHD med by the FDA?), the doctor refused to evaluate me. Basically, I believe that the doctor saw I was on Suboxone (which is treatment for opioid abuse and ensures you can't get high even if you try) and automatically assumed that I was only there for drugs. Instead of meeting me and talking to me about it, where he would've found out that I haven't used in years, he just flat out refused to evaluate me. When I begged the receptionist to talk to the doctor about it because I hadn't been able to find any other place that did evaluations close to my home that took my insurance, she started grilling me about why I would want an evaluation if the doctor would refuse to recommend medication (it wasn't her business and her tone, attitude, and questions made it clear she thought I was drug seeking). When I told her I didn't care about the meds, that I wanted to be evaluated for the validation after being called lazy and terrible my entire life and for the services I may be able to receive, she finally said she'd try to discuss it with the doctor, but she again affirmed that even if he did evaluate me, he would refuse to recommend medication for me (again, before ever meeting or talking to me). She called me back pretty quickly however, to inform me that they don't take my insurance anyway (even though they had known all along what insurance I had because I told them on two separate occasions what insurance I had). They were just horrible to me, they obviously don't care about their potential patients, which makes me wonder how they treat their actual patients. I dont recommend them at all.
