Clementine you had at my hello! What a fantastic shop. Amazing variety of fabrics, notions, yarns, buttons and more. Everything was so well organized and easy to find. Very welcoming. She even has a seating area for that fellow u might be traveling with. Hint. Lol Her fabric selections included high quality designer fabrics consisting of knits, voile , home Decor, canvas , cotton and more. Priced very reasonable too. Loved the felt collection and the variety of buttons. Geez, I could go on with this place. It's fabulous. A sewers paradise. The owner was working today and was super nice. What a fabulous fresh shop! It felt wonderful just walking in. I loved it. There was a fun mix of garment and other craft fabrics and plenty for the quilting enthusiast like me! The ambiance was so welcoming, fun and modern that it made me feel invigorated. I bought fun fabrics for projects for my grandchildren. I found modern Halloween fabrics, just right for what I wanted. The woman who worked at my hotel in Camden tipped me off to this shop. I am lucky she did as it was not on Yelp nor in the brochure from the Tourism office. There are also piles of great yarns. I would consider myself "crafty" - I can take a few items from The Dollar Store, for example, and replicate, oh say, the eye plants from the movie Labyrinth (this being my ultimate victory thus far and totally worth bragging about). When I was younger, I even crocheted a blanket for my cat. Sure, it was crooked, but he loved it - it was warm(ish). That being said: you know what I can't do? I can't sew. I mean, if there's a rip in my pants or I need to change the strap size of a tank top, sure. But really sew? Like blankets, and clothing from scratch, and scarves, and napkins, and stitch together animals and fake food from felt? Out of my realm completely. But I had the chance to duck into Clementine with someone who is highly proficient at this life skill and, by goodness, is it darling in there. A very small child was counting out pins and buttons near the cash register while his mom and - who I assume is - the owner talked. Both were wearing fabulous scarves which I can only assume they made. Was that Joanna Newsom or some other lovely singer-songwriter playing in the background? Is this what it's like to walk into Pinterest-come-to-life? Etsy-come-to-life? Why can't I stop touching everything?!?! If you like classical fabric options, modern fabric options (charming robots? dueling lobsters? baby animals being witty?), or are looking for a kick in the seat of the pants creatively... you, too, should duck into Clementine. Oh Clementine, I love you so much that I am glad you are not closer to me. I would be broke but swaddled in the loveliest fabric with a stupid grin on my face. Clementine has become the bar I set for every small quilt/fabric shop I step into. They spoil me with lovely modern and retro prints I cannot seem to find anywhere else. I always seek out those prints, and am disappointed when I can't find them... except at Clementine. They always deliver. I am not a clothes maker, but ever time I go in there, their vast selection of patterns makes me wish I was. Seriously, the patterns in there are so lovely and look like classic pieces that anyone could fit to their style. I always have a lovely conversation with the owner/manager (? - not sure because I never ask). She is delightful and patient and understands the love of the craft so well. Loved this unique place. It's clean, nicely organized and well-run with beautifully distinct fabrics. They have quilting cottons as well as linens, laminated fabric, upscale flannels and wools. The customer service was excellent too. This is a gem in Rockland. Stop in. I wish I didn't live over 2,000 miles from here. One of my few must-hit shops every trip to Maine. The aesthetic and selection in this fabric store is impressive--hard-to-find knits, modern-print wovens, slightly kitschy lobster canvas for tote bags--if you love to sew, and want fresh sewing patterns and beautiful fabrics, this is your place. The staff is also always incredibly nice and helpful--they've made the dress, they've used that fabric, they can tell you about this shop sample. I am always impressed when I stop in, and also always leave much poorer. read more
