I was terribly inept (read that as incapable of understanding) at social media. Over that last couple of years, Hudson Valley Graphic Design has done a complete makeover of my site, creating a logo using a pie shape, which fits my website and brand perfectly: Honeypies' Recipes. After completing that first step of the new design, I engaged Janeen and her staff for help in social media. The first most important thing I learned was very basic: commit to three social media posts a week, whether it was an article I wrote on my blog and put on social media or finding interesting content and putting that on social media. Ashley initially helped me find content and write the blurbs; I was not alone and that made a huge difference. I'm a slow learner when it comes to these technologies. Janeen and Ashley were great at getting me to step it up a little after each quarterly meeting. I'm pleased to say that I'm very comfortable with the text-related social media: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. I took total control of these social media outlets this month (August), just letting Ashley know what I was doing and if I needed any advice, she was there to guide me. I still struggle with the photographic social media, probably because I'm still struggling with taking great pictures. I have made baby strides with Pinterest and they are still nudging me to get onto Instagram. I know I'll get there. I've seen an improvement in my content and skills with their help. I'm now engaged with social media daily, which I never would have believed two years ago. I love my logo and website design. As I entered, I was greeted by Sonya who immediately took it upon herself to look at my problem. Within minutes, she sensed what the problem was and suggested that I leave it there for further analysis. Approximately 3 hours later, I returned to bring my charger, as asked, where I was greeted by Bryan (Brian?) who indicated that Sonya has fixed the problem. Brian called me the moment he got in that morning, I drove over (in a bit of a wintry storm) and returned home before dinner with a new SSD and a fully functioning laptop.
