Spending time along the Reedy River in Greenville is such a special experience. There are several…read morebeautiful spots to sit and relax, especially near the Grand Bohemian Lodge Greenville, and the bridge is a wonderful place to stroll while enjoying the soothing sound of the river and waterfall. What makes it even more meaningful is the history behind it. Beginning in the late 1700s, water-powered industries clustered along the Reedy River, including trading posts, grist and corn mills, a sawmill, an ironworks, the Gower, Cox and Markley Coach Factory, a paper-making factory, and an armory. A century later, textile and apparel mills were established along its banks. Unfortunately, the mills discharged waste and excess dyes into the river, and the Reedy began to suffer from the spoils of progress. By the mid-20th century, downtown Greenville's stretch of the river was so severely polluted by upstream textile mills that the once pristine and popular falls became desolate and unsafe. Seeing how beautiful and vibrant the area is today makes you truly appreciate the restoration and revitalization efforts. It's peaceful, scenic, and rich with history -- definitely a must-visit when you're in Greenville. Cheers!

When we lived in the vicinity we used to walk to Butler Springs from our apartment as it is somewhat hidden within a residential neighborhood. Although we have moved for several months now we still enjoy visiting the park on weekends now and then. So bring your rackets, sluggers, dogs and kids and you will have a grand ole time.

There are 3 slides an obstacle course and spin toys. A covered pavilion w picnic tables a charcoal grill and a wood grill. There are indoor bathrooms and electricity. They have a sand volleyball court, half basketball, tennis and football field. There is a community garden also. Over by playground there is a single covered picnic table. And a grass area you could put a blanket down or let kids run around.

It is definitely an advantage to have the playground shaded by large trees. Just be aware that the trees do shed their large roller seeds that young toddlers can easily slip on. Still, I'd rather take shade over blatant sun exposure and a playground that turns into a furnace. The playground could use a bit of an upgrade and a new mulching job, but my boys love playing here. Included are a few slides and swings within a curbed area. Surrounding the playground are soccer fields and walking trails (my boys also use it to ride their bicycles). One loops all the way to the east past residences. If you're fortunate you may hear some of the wild turkeys gobble in the woods; too bad their territory is shrinking. Happy yelping!
