Cleveland needs to retire and close up shop. Clothes ate NEVER READY when he says (we're talking 5 trips). The shop isnt open when it's supposed to be. The shop is totally disorganized with clothes all over the place, including the floor. You dont get a slip when you drop off youre items so he cant remember what item(s) are yours. The last ( and i mean LAST) time i brought a pair of pants to be hemmed he found them on the floor(unhemmed) and stained and had to dry clean them and the stain was still faintly there. I didnt pay for the hemming. He's gotten worse and the quality has gone downhill. Let me save you the aggravation. read more

I bought a wedding dress on second hand, no complaints with the buyer. I was happy when I grabbed it then tried on at home and felt it was way to snug. It was an XS and I am Medium, I was so upset. Then I realized my neighbor is a tailor, I felt horrible even asking him (night before) however he took with no hesitation and told me he would start when he gets to shop at 8:00am. I got there about 8:45 and he already had it exactly how I explained I wanted it. He brought it home that night when he got home from work. I used Cleaveland the Tailor to alter my daughters $500 prom dress and he ruined it! I brought my suit in to get slightly altered as this was a custom suit that only needed to be shortened less then 1/2 inch in both the arm and legs. I dropped my suit in on a Monday and was told it would be no problem and finished about a week and a half later on Thursday. I showed up the following Thursday and learned Cleveland didn't actually get to my suit, but could get it done in a day. I should have been weary at that point but allowed him to continue the work. When I showed up the next day I was told he wasn't in and hadn't finished but I should come back before close. As soon as I walked in, Cleveland seemed frazzled and told me it wasn't done but to come back Saturday. I told him that I don't live in the area (I work nearby) so take the weekend and I'll come in Monday for it. When I showed up Monday the door was locked and no one was inside. I came back Tuesday and finally was told the suit was done. I tried it on and was happy with the pants. Great start. Then I tried on the jacket. It still had chalk from his measurements on the sleeves and string hanging inside by the shoulder where he removed the sleeves to shorten the cuff. The sleeves are pillowed at the shoulders and it looks horrible. Instead of a well groomed custom suit I now feel I own a disheveled suit I bought when I was a kid. Mr. Cleveland from Cleveland Tailor is phenomenal. I needed hemming on 4 pairs of pants and he was able to do it within 30 minutes! They expertly seen and the price was at least 1/3 cheaper than any of the other shops. I recommend him highly!!! read more

I went to this tailor because of his availability. 7 days a week is great. I had a simple one layer dress that needed to be hemmed. I told him I would need it back in 2 days he said no problem. I came back in 3 days (day of the wedding I was attending) at about 9:30. The sign said open & the lights were on but no one was there. I stayed for another 15 minutes with no luck. I came back at noon time and he was present. He spent 10 minutes looking around for my dress, saying that he didn't even recall me dropping it off. When he finally found it underneath other clothes, he did not even have it done!! He told me he would have it ready if I gave him 30 minutes. I accepted since I was wearing it in 3 hours from then. The stitching was not done well, as it kept snagging on my heels all night. It also had a smell of a basement that I tried to get rid of. read more

Very sharp and meticulous. Very knowledgeable with all kinds of sewing alterations and repairs. Cleveland is also a wizard at zipper repairs. On top of it all, Cleveland is very personal and has a smile as soon as you walk into his tiny shop by the Red Bank train station. He also does uniforms and patches. read more

Unprofessional. Unorganized. Dishonest. He doesn't give receipts or estimates. Maybe if you ask... He had my garment for a month. When I called (twice) he's confused and has no idea if the job is finished or if he even has it. No receipts... Read a few bad reviews (sloppy shop, rudeness) but gave him a chance. Any good reviews must be phony. I can't believe this guy is still in business. I telephoned to find out what I owe (overpriced, sure). He asks for $18.00 more when I arrive, but I would not pay the extra money. Clothing worse than dropped off and unwearable. I tell him how disappointed I am. Very poor service. The owner's son, the younger gentleman, has no business professionalism. He's moved from the Monmouth Mall then to Middletown area with no notice. All of my shoes were with him and he did not even bother to call first to give his existing customers a heads up. I had to hound his father's business for my shoes after learning that the son moved to Red Bank to his father's shop. "Mr. Cleveland", the father, was very unpleasant and came off very rude. He priced me for one amount, then after finally getting in touch with the son and picking up my items, he charged me almost double with no heads up. The business earned an "F" rating on the Better Business Bureau. I am making an inquiry to the state treasury and federal because there business needs to be investigated. read more

Having now read the reviews here, I see that I should have been more cautious. My story is largely the same as the other 1-stars - I needed the lining replaced on a winter coat. Cleveland said he needed 2 weeks to do it. Six weeks later, I was just about ready to file a civil suit against him when he finally told me the coat was ready. And lo and behold, what he had to show me was someone else's blazer. I finally found my coat, untouched, buried beneath a couple others, took it and left. read more
