I have quite literally purchased most of my clothes here for the last 15 years or more. They are always of the highest quality. Things last for a long time. From business suits to casual summer clothing, it's always great. I abhor the mall. Shopping online does not work for me regarding clothing. Too many of the high-end men's shops are too boring in their selection. This store strikes the perfect balance. After they get to know you and your taste, they can make suggestions that shorten the process of picking out clothes on any visit. People often say I have great taste in clothes. I correct them. They worked with my husband to make him a custom tuxedo for our wedding -- and it was literally perfect! From the fit to the quality and the little details -- it was exactly what he was looking for. They give you the proper time and attention here to make sure you are satisfied with how you look and feel, which was really important to us. I had 3 suits I needed to get tailored, I called ahead to ask if they tailor non Michael Duru brand suits and was informed it'd be no problem. I was recommended to come here by a highly regarded peer I work with in NYC. I walked in the store and was instantly treated with respect from an older gentlemen. I was taken to a changing room and changed into my first suit. I was very excited to have alterations made to my suits and pick out a new suit. The tailor (a bald fellow, never introduced himself) came up and seemed really annoyed to be taking measurements. He made it seem as it was a chore to be doing his job. After about 30 seconds, he walked away from me and came back with a suit jacket. He then proceeded to tell me in front of multiple other people that I should not waste my money on the suits I buy & that for the price of the alterations I can buy one of their suits. He then spent another 30 seconds taking measurements and disregarded any details I told him I wanted done. He told me that my suits were not able to look good. Mind you, these weren't some H&M quality suits either. I was highly insulted by his smug attitude and his 'I am better than you' mentality. Especially because his insults were in front of multiple customers in the alterations section. I did not come here for a lecture on the quality of my suits, I came here because I was informed they performed alterations. I have never been disrespected and embarrassed in public like that before. I had every intention to spend over $1,000 is the store that day. After he made it quite clear to me that my suits weren't high enough quality for him to alter, embarrassed me in public in front of multiple customers, & insulted me, I decided to take my suit back and leave without letting him take measurements on the rest of my suits. On my way out, he asked why I was leaving and I let him know I'd rather give my money to a service that does not insult me, my clothing, & especially does not do it in person. I had come here for some alterations, all with success, but a recent experience has me believing that the tailors here are miracle workers. I had a tiny tear on a silk crepe dress (splinter on a wooden chair- from now on I eat standing up at places that have these). I thought it was simple enough to lightly sew the edges together so when I dropped off my dry cleaning I asked the dry cleaner (who will never see me again) to do just that. He made an absolute mess and it was exponentially more noticeable than it had been. I brought it to the capable staff at Michael Duru and very emotionally pleaded with them to help. After gently suggesting that in the future I leave these things to professionals (lesson hard learned), Matt said that he would take it if I wanted but the cleaner had done such terrible things to it that he couldn't promise he could fix it or even that trying to undo the damage wouldn't make it worse. I respected his honesty and decided to let him see what he could do. I came back the next week and was floored- not only had he undone the cleaner's monstrosity (which involved painstakingly removing the million stitches the cleaner had done, one at a time), but now it looks like it had never been torn. I had to really look for the spot where it had been. I am now a loyal customer for life. Fair prices, friendly service, and killer workmanship. read more

This might be the first time I have ever written a review so it is well deserved. I was dragged to this store by my fiancé because I needed a new suit. I like to dress well but during the day I do not need to dress professionally so shopping for a suit is torture. I was greeted at the door (which normally I hate) and an hour later I was leaving with a full suit, 2 pairs of shoes, 2 pairs of the most comfortable jeans I've ever worn, and a few shirts...all at a price far less than I was expecting for the suit alone. Best part? They tailored a pair of jeans for me before I left and store my size for future purchases. Since I am an athletic fit it has always been impossible to find a good fit. Problem solved. Michael, Matt & Staff have been dressing me for a little over 1 year now and I must say, at first I was unsure (I mean really who has someone dress them & pick out clothes, I have been doing it myself for 30 years!!), but over the year they have gone above and beyond for me and my 3 three boys (and my wife), and we never looked better, clothing does make the man... I am a very particular customer and look for perfection in the fit of my cloths. It is the only place I will shop because the service is professional, personal and spot on.
