Took my dog to get an ear infection cleared up. After 10 days of medicating at home and $500 later, still had the infection. Brought her in for a "recheck" and prescribed more meds and another $500. Still has an ear infection and we are going to a different vet??? read more

We are so comfortable with this clinic! We did a visit last night with all 4 of our dogs, 3 of which are puppy mill rescues. I sat on the floor to keep one of our pups relaxed. The entire team followed the lead! Our dogs were calm and happy. Each tech and Dr Dorman kept them stress free and happy. We appreciate the time and attention each pup receives with respect for their individual personalities. All our questions were answered and we left knowing our pups are doing well. The reason it's 4 stars and not 5, is because of their location.... :) It's worth the trip though. We have been using them for our dog's vet care for at least 4 years now. Never had a bad/negative appointment. Our dog contracted Lyme/Tick bite and had to be on medication for a long time and they are very helpful in explaining what is next step(s) and what to expect etc... Due to financial situations, they gave me different options that fit my budget but still have my dog's health as the # 1 goal. They understand that times are tough and are willing to work with us. If they only move closer to Culpeper, I'd give the 5th Star!! PS: Dr. Dye is great! read more

They deserve more than 5 stars! The whole staff is wonderful. We're new puppy parents and after asking around about veterinary offices, this one was the most recommended...I now know why. Dr. Myers is AMAZING!!! The ladies up front always welcome us with treats and take us to our room. Our boy has seen Dr. Myers every time we've gone except once. She comes in, sits on the floor and allows him to greet her, he usually goes NUTS, he LOVES her too! The last time we went to get shots, Dr. Myers noticed he was having some anxiety, so... she said "We're not vaccinating today, we're going to play instead." She literally sat on the floor and played with our baby for close to an hour! She sent him home with a new toy, and didn't charge us for the visit. This woman truly cares about animals, she wants them to be comfortable when they come in and happy when they leave. She is genuine, caring, and wants nothing but the best for you and your pet! The office is clean, welcoming, and tastefully decorated. We've met many of the Vet Techs, they're awesome as well! You never feel rushed, and your pet is spoiled from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. Since day 1, when we relocated to Amissville, this clinic has "ALWAYS" provided superb care for our animals. We came from the city where, those clinics have nothing, absolutely nothing, on our Veterinary staff here! Dr Hamblen is not only educated but just has a knack for figuring out the tough cases. She is very professional and always willing to make sure I understand what the plan is, what medicines she's prescribing, what they do, and makes sure I know how to give them. Always making sure my animal is getting the best care. She's not afraid to get her hands dirty, she'll get on the floor with us. And the Techs are even better. Professional, qualified and educated, and my time slot is my time slot ... unless there is an emergency. AND LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST BUT RATHER THE FIRST ONES YOU'LL MEET ... The staff up front who always know my name, my pets names, and are ready for me when I come in the door with a friendly greeting. They have a clean room ready, thereby limiting dogs and cats and whatever else, in the lobby. The staff that Dr Watts has put together just clicks together like a well oiled machine and they "ALL" have wonderful personalities. read more

Their customer service sucks. I have been playing phone tag for almost two months regarding wellness plans and have constantly been put off, "oh so and so will call you back later"- never got called back, "oh their sick, but they will call you when they get back in"-never got called back. "I'll make sure they call you back tomorrow"- never got called back. Now, I understand businesses get busy, and they have a million things to do, but the fact that they have literally NEVER called me back when they said they would is a joke. Additionally, do not fall for their wellness plan. Absolutely no where in the process of signing up, OR on ANY of the bills and papers, AND contract, does it say that the wellness plan money you pay in, goes towards the discounted services you paid for. Absolutely NO WHERE on any of the bills or papers does it show how much you still owe, how much you're actually supposed to be paying off. read more

Over-the-top expensive. Very long pauses when asked what each suggested procedure costs - as if the vets don't know. And if they really don't know - here's a suggestion - keep a price list with you and post it in your exam rooms. Try being upfront. It works wonders in building trusting relationships. Re: diagnoses and therapies - you are told "definitively" what is causing whatever symptoms and then given very limited treatment options - with the emphasis on surgery and using their expensive gadgets. As a practicing biochemist, I find the vets there somewhat comedic in their big show of how definitively they try to sell their "answers" to be, after very, very limited workups. A little humility goes a long way. The big "show" of trying to act like they care about the animals is embarrassing to observe with a straight face. Finally, if you drop off your pet for an exam, so that you can get to work, to make money, to then fork over to them, beware, because you will be charged for the cage they will put it in. On top of the office visit, exam fee, and any "extras." You can do better. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Clevenger's Corner. The entire staff is awesome. We started visiting Clevenger's because of their technology and having the laser treatment therapy that our previous vet did not have. We now take all of our pets to Clevenger's. Dr. Dorman has saved my dog, Petey, on multiple occasions. He has some health issues that have led us to considering letting him go but every time he bounces right back with the help of Dr. Dorman. Routine visits are enjoyed by all of my dogs. A visit to Clevenger's is not the same ol' quick in and out, take my money kind of visit. They take the time to get to know your dog and to make them comfortable. They make sure my dogs do not have a bad experience so they enjoy coming back. They get right down on the floor and give my pups kisses and belly rubs. When my smallest dog was scheduled to get multiple vaccines Dr. Myers gave him some pain meds prior to giving the vaccines since he has been sore in the past from multiple vaccines at another vet office. She got down on the floor and played with him and chatted with us about him while she waited for the meds to kick in before giving the vaccines. They may cost a little more than other local places but I gladly pay just a little more for my pups to have the great experience that they get with Clevenger's plus the technology that they have if ever needed makes it worth it. Dr. Myers also saw my hedgehog and was very accommodating and sympathetic when I had to have her put to sleep. They went at the pace I needed and explained every step so I knew what to expect. Any procedures we need to have done are explained thoroughly and we are given a low and high estimates of the cost of said procedure. They are willingly to work with me to get the estimates as close as possible to what I am comfortable with. We currently have a foster dog and must follow the Rescue's policies for all treatments including his heartworm treatment as he is heartworm positive. Dr. Dorman has donated her time to give him an exam and has worked with me to get the heartworm treatment to fit the policy of the Rescue. I would recommend them 100 times over. read more

We switched to this place based on a friend's recommendation. So glad we did! I was very impressed, when compared to the last place in town. Staff was very friendly, office and exam rooms were very clean, and I felt like they were very thorough and honest. Options were discuss, opinions starred, but at no point did I feel like they were trying to get us to spend ridiculous amounts of money just because. They also offer different payment plans which can definitely be helpful for pricy procedures. There are also several doctors to choose from, should you prefer one to another. I recently moved from the area, but I still make the drive back to Culpeper so that I can bring my cats to Dr. Watts! As a self-proclaimed crazy cat lady, I am extremely picky about everything I give my cats, and I am always confident that they are getting the highest quality of care at Clevengers Corner. I have always been particularly impressed with how the staff handles one of my cats, because she is aggressive towards most people. Since cats are so small, I was a little worried at first about how safe it would be for my cat to be restrained for shots, but within the first few minutes of our first appointment, my fears were gone. The staff at Clevengers Corner are very thoroughly trained, so they can easily give my cat the care she needs, despite her attempts to bite them! Not only do Dr. Watts and his team do an incredible job of caring for my cats' medical needs, but they also do an amazing job of helping me understand the day to day needs of my cats. Their advice makes this crazy cat lady feel confident that I'm being a good cat mom, and I think that skill of managing pet owners is under-appreciated! read more

Well, couldn't go to 1-star cause ultimately my pets have been safe under their care. But we had a disagreement over a mis-diagnosis resulting in an expensive surgery. I'd been weary of them for a while as being very fancy and priced for image, and lacking practicality. This final episode resulted in a loss of trust that the information provided was best for making good decisions for pet care, and is more intended to pressure into high priced procedures. I have now left this practice for another that focuses more on patient health, as opposed to paying off the fancy building & funding their lawyers to keep negative info out of the public eye. You're pet will be fine, but you're gonna pay a lot for the regular stuff, and get guilted in to extensive procedures. But if a fancy building is more important to you than practical vet care, this is the place to go. read more

Having just moved into the area, my husband and I were looking for a new Vet for our two pups. I saw positive reviews for Clevengers Corner online and knowing how much harder it is to get positive reviews vs negative reviews, we made an appointment for our senior dog. My husband and I were so impressed by the quality of care we received we have decided to continue coming here for all of our veterinary needs. With a newly adopted 3rd dog, the monthly payment plan really helps us budget so our pet's care is always paid for and keeps us on track with vaccinations, boosters and wellness visits. The staff I have met have all been friendly and seem happy to be at work. (how many of us can say that!) The office has never been overcrowded on any of our visits. We are usually brought into an exam room almost immediately. This is a big deal for me because waiting in a room full of other dogs and various other pets has always caused anxiety in myself and, consequently, my dogs. The two doctors we have seen so far have both been wonderful, not in a rush, and truly seemed to want to take time to get to know our furry family members and make them as comfortable as possible during their visit. We are very happy to have found Clevenger's Corner and will be recommending them at every opportunity. The three stars are for the techs. FIrst time at this Vet since moving into the area and the techs were awesome and very nice. I am not happy with the Dr that I saw. Dr. Dye is lacking bedside manor and professionalism. She had the nerve to tell me I was being rude midway through an explanation of how, where and why I get certain vaccines for my dogs. I was not being rude and just offering a basic explanation. Totally unwarranted reaction on her part. I wanted to see Dr. Watts as he was recommended but was seen by Dye instead. Not sure why they did that but I wont allow that next time. I will go back but only to see Dr. Watts. I hope she acted that way because of a bad day because it would be sad if that is her normal personality. read more
