My daughter stayed here for a wedding in the winter when they rented the entire place. She loved it. So when we tried to get away for a couple days we decided to try it. This place will close in 2 weeks until March. The owners and staff seemed really burned out so that is good. We had a minor issue with our room which was fixed quickly. No big deal for us but we were made to feel it was our fault. Rooms are old rustic but extremely clean. A safe Covid getaway. We hear the view is fantastic of the canyon. It was fogged in rainy for us. The food at lunch was plentiful. The ham and chicken were excellent. The sides were good. Service was OK. Our server wore her mask under her nose. Tables were separated properly. Then at 7am the kitchen which is above our room geared up. At 8am the owner came down to do inventory. He talks loudly and yells up to the kitchen. We think he is next to us. Then he started talking politics where we could hear. We are not Trumpers and really wanted to get away from that too. So much for a peaceful morning. I think in the spring and summer when the owners are more in an innkeeper mood this could be a nice stay. We will get a cabin if we come back and see if it is quiet. By mid-Fall they are ready to take a break! read more

I stopped here on my way from Little Rock to Branson. If you crave a side of Trump fascism and hatred with your very average but over-priced burger, boy...is THIS the place for you. They openly (and loudly) discuss their ignorant political views in front of customers. I guess they thought my camo shirt and my wife's plaid top invited them to speak openly. Everyone who worked there looked miserable, stressed and unhappy. There was an actual heaviness in the air from the time we walked in until the time we were thankfully finished and free to explore far less sad, and frankly far less "offensive" restaurants in Eureka Springs and Branson. The employees radiated an energy that seemed to suggest it is obviously very difficult for them to get out of bed and face another day. But I did feel sorry for my specific server. Again, if you want to start your vacation with a dose of anger, ignorance and incompetence (or if you're one of the 35% insurrectionist cult), by all means put this place on your bucket list. Great view though!!! I do have a recommendation. Next time you drive up to the Ozarks, take 65 instead. There is a FANTASTIC little unexpected cafe in Leslie called Skylark Cafe. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is great. And you'll leave with a feeling of lightness - like it ADDED to your overall Ozark experience. Unlike the Cliff House which makes you feel like you want to turn around, drive back to Little Rock, crawl back into bed and hope tomorrow never comes - just like the vibe their employees give off. I have no idea what the political affiliation is of the Skylark Cafe owners. And that's EXACTLY what I expect from a business I'm giving my money to. Or in Jasper, try the Ozark Cafe. It's clearly a very conservative kind of place - but they don't serve it on the menu like it's a side of pinto beans and I've always enjoyed my stops there. THEIR food is always great. read more

4.5 stars--Review for dining only. Definitely exceeded expectations. Beautiful location, perched on a cliff overlooking the "Grand Canyon of the Ozarks". The inn has cabins and hotel rooms if you are looking for a place to stay in this area. Restaurant has great views. The inn has been here since '67 and has a great history. Current owners originally from Lafayette, LA and the wide-ranging menu has a distinct "N'awlins" bent at breakfast and at lunch. Southern staples like chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, alligator, crayfish, and catfish. Plus, Po Boy sandwiches with bread straight from Gambino's Bakery in New Orleans. These are favorites of ours so we looked over the options and chose Fried Catfish and Grilled Shrimp rather than fried as is usually what you find on most menus. We both chose Bacon Sour Cream Salad-like a stuffed baked potato-as our side. We enjoyed every bite of both sandwiches. The bread was outstanding, seafood perfectly cooked, veggies fresh and crisp. The grilled shrimp was a great change from fried. And that potato salad was phenomenal. We attempted to buy some to go and were told they had just sold the last of it. Errr. And I wish we had had enough room for the delicious sounding desserts like Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie or their specialty here-The official State Pie of Arkansas-Company's Comin' Pie. I wanted to stop here on a previous trip to the area but they have odd hours, which is fine. Funnily enough, while eating breakfast somewhere else, I heard locals complaining about this place the day before I visited. I didn't let it sway my judgment, though. Obviously the view is amazing. Turns out, you can enjoy it for free from the parking lot. Be prepared to spend a lot of money here. Four people could easily rack up $200 just for lunch. The food is good, not what you'd expect from the middle of nowhere, but it's not really worth the price. And once they're out of an item, they're out for the door no matter what time it is. Refills aren't really free so you gotta pace yourself if you chug your Diet Dr Pepper like I do! It's nice to find Cajun food somewhere but the spices aren't there, not really. Staff is friendly enough but they don't seem to be a fan of people sitting around and visiting, which is odd considering how long it takes to get the food. You should probably check this place out once to enjoy the view while having pie and coffee. But I don't think it's a "regulars" kind of place. read more

Only had time for Iced Tea and pie, and both were superb. I had the coconut creme pie which was one of the better slices I've had in quite awhile. The restaurant is interesting with all the old photos and items on the walls. The Ozark overlook was super and the outdoor porch / observation area was enjoyable. Stayed here on a Tuesday overnight into Wednesday. Checking was pretty smooth. Three keys to get into room, lol. Had the corner suite which has three beds and one bath. Didn't need but one bed but that was all that was left. Hallway and stairway to rooms which are outside were covered with walking stick bugs. Literally everywhere. No issues just eerie as trying not to touch railings or sit anywhere and not bring them into room. Room is straight out of a 1960's roadside type room. That dusky smell, old, old room. Wiring was stretched from the few outlets with surge protector multi outlets to plug in lamps and fake fireplace. Bathroom was clean save the cricket. The new shower stall had a shower head mounted at 5 foot and that was as high as you could use it. Bed squeeked and road side traffic was very audible from corner room. Fantastic views from decking overlooking the valley. Restaurant only open for breakfast and lunch after November 1st. Ordered the fried green beans which were fabulous! The roast beef sandwich special for $9.99 was also good. we saved room for the Arkansas State pie- Companys Coming pie. Very curious to try this as had heard of it but never seen it served anywhere. Now we know why! It was the WORST pie ever! What a joke. The saltine cracker, merengue crust crumbles were like eating stake salted cardboard. The filling was whipped cream with a couple small bits of pineapple. Couldn't take more than two bites each just to make sure the first wasn't a mistake. read more

Wasn't expecting much for food, but we were pleasantly surprised . They were slammed on. Saturday and we had to wait a bit but it was worth it. My husband had the catfish platter, it was a lot of good and very fresh. Hot water cornbread was great. We stayed two nights the first week in October. The leaves had not started to change yet, but I can imagine what the view would be like from the private room balcony or restaurant when they do. The owners are very nice people who were most accommodating. The room was older, but clean and had Direct TV. Because we were in the room farthest from the office (rm 6) the Wi-Fi didn't work. If you went to the lower patio it would. The bathroom was small with limited water pressure. If you are staying here for the room, you are staying for the wrong reason. The view from the private balcony is beautiful at sun up and in the late afternoon. Our room had two double beds that were very comfortable. I am just not sure that it was worth $80 before the leaf season. The fact that breakfast off the menu for two definitely made it a better deal. The office and restaurant closed at 3 throughout the week and the closest place to get dinner is 8 miles away, so plan ahead. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing experience. I would recommend Cliff House if you want a clean and comfortable place to stay with an amazing view. If you are looking for luxury, look elsewhere. read more

When you arrive.... yes, this is it. It looks like it could slide off the cliff. Once in the restaurant (one has to pass thru the gift shop) the view is commanding. Thank goodness the food matches the view. We started the meal with hot-water cornbread. I had to look it up. It is served with a (get this) tobasco-butter and honey. Kinda bites and soothes at the same time. I had a brisket special (bbq) with baked beans and an interesting baked-potato salad. That entree was good; but, it was not served hot. They need to work on that. My wife ordered the HAND-breaded chopped steak, mashed potatoes with white gravy and black-eyed peas. Her meal was good and hot... delicious. She finished with Company's Coming Pie while I had the Bourbon Sauce Peach Bread Pudding. Afterward we were so full we had to retire to the deck and enjoy the view sans windows. It is south of Jasper and not convenient to anything really. If in the area consider a stop and in my opinion it is worth a special trip. read more

Stopped here 3-23-18 for lunch with two friends after hiking in the Ozarks. The food was exceptional and the staff was wonderful. I had a shrimp po'boy and was blown away. I am still trying to figure out why I just had the best po'boy in the middle of the Ozarks. My friends had a burger and a catfish po'boy. They reported both to be very good. We were stuffed but since the food was so good we had the coconut cream pie and the bourbon chocolate pecan pie. Both were good. None of us ate dinner that night. Coffee was cold and tastes like it was made a day ago at 10:30 am. Iced tea was instant and so cloudy you could hardly see the ice. Hamburger steak was overlooked, dry and bland. Salad was a bowl of lettuce with a few bites of tomatoes for $2.00. Mashed potatoes were covered in white gravy without asking. The biscuit was good. Stayed in the cabin. What a wonderful treat this little getaway to North Arkansas provided us. We stopped to eat lunch here and were pleasantly greeted and sat with an amazing view to behold. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Service was fast. The food was simply amazing and our appetizer was the best appetizer I've had in a long time. We had the shrimp and fried green tomatoes. It was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of it. I had the grilled pork with onion bacon jam with fingerling potatoes and fresh green beans. Huge portion and had a second meal. The prices were very high for what we got. I had a $12 burger and it did not include sides. I asked for no onion and it had grilled onions that they had tried to scrape off. My burger was not seasoned and had hardly any blue cheese. My burger was dry and flavorless. My side was "potato salad". It was just cooked potatoes and mayo. Again it was under seasoned. But the service is HORRIBLE. I mean, it was like something out of Candid Camera. After starting to take our order and informing us that they were out of hash browns for the rest of the year (I guess there aren't potatoes in Arkansas), the waitress excused herself to run to the kitchen. We presumed that she was confirming the great Hash Brown Shortage of 2014, but after much laughter from the kitchen, she came back out and proceeded to serve a couple of other tables before disappearing again without even a glance in our direction. No rush, lady. We weren't in the middle of our order or anythi--oh wait, we were! When she returned, she was laughing again, I guess because screwing with hungry folks is hilarious. We told her we thought she'd gone to check on the hash browns, and she said that no, she hadn't. She then took our order like nothing had happened. While waiting for the food, we went out onto the balcony and took in the beautiful Grand Canyon of Arkansas. Thankfully, our magician--I mean, waitress--didn't pull her disappearing act again, and the food came quickly. She started being more attentive, but it was too little, too late. Since we didn't give her a tip, here's one for you: you better love the view because you might be staring at it a long damn time while the wait staff has comedy hour in the kitchen. However, once we placed our order and got our iced tea (which was actually one of the better things we ordered)...it was like the entire waitstaff disappeared. We kept looking at the kitchen door wondering where the staff goes for so long. We would've taken any waitress. Not feeling picky...just ready to eat. And then the salad comes out. Wait I don't like my salad dressing but she's not coming back...maybe ever? so I'm over trying another dressing. Then the food comes out and the portions...Did we order from the kids menu? (And Incase you're wondering, we are not large people.) The biscuit was good. Oh and this was nice...the waitress brought out what we can only assume was the other half of my sons chicken strips with an acknowledgement of the "small portions" we received. We waited to get a box for the green beans and a biscuit we were taking....finally 10 mins later we relented and asked the cashier for a box. She paged the kitchen and out comes our waitress and she smiles and says "I was wondering if y'all would need a box". (So you were wondering in the kitchen about this for 10 minutes but decided not to come out and ask us?) Seriously, the sloww service is what made us feel compelled to leave a review. I have stayed at Cliff House Inn two times. In each case it was to attend a family reunion in Jasper. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The view from the balcony is amazing. It may have been that we visited at 2pm on a Tuesday, but the food and wait staff were tired. The "blackened shrimp" appetizer was basically 8 small shrimp floating in, what might be described as, super-salty blackened sauce, but that is being generous. The chicken strips were perfectly fried, but the gravy tasted burned, which totally ruined the mashed potatoes, too The green beans as a side were inedible...limp and nasty. I have had mixed experiences here. The food is usually good, with the biscuits being always good. My daughter ordered a hamburger which came out extremely rare. On occasion, the country fried steak was a little tough.What I disagree with is the staff attitude. On a recent visit, the menu was limited the offerings included some unusual combinations which they wouldn't be flexible with. I recall fries could only be ordered with a certain entree, while mashed potatoes came with most. The table next to us had several kids, who all wanted fries with their order but had to have mashed potatoes or potato salad! It was arbitrary and nonsensical. On another occasion, a woman came in about 15 minutes before closing (at 2p.m.)The hostess refused to seat her saying the kitchen was closed. The woman then asked if she could just have pie and coffee, and the hostess firmly refused even that! There were still several tables with people eating! What would've been the harm? The owner and staff need to be more flexible and accommodating in my view. read more
