They were very kind and understanding, and took a good look at what was in the house, asked a bunch of questions, answered a bunch more questions, and generally were great to work with. Unfortunately, there was not enough stuff in the house to make it worthwhile to do an Estate Sale, and they seemed quite apologetic about that, but they still gave me lots of great advice on how to proceed with my goals, as well as the few things that knew from experience would be worth trying to sell separately. This appraiser was such a pain to deal with. First, he grossly undervalued the house I was buying,…read morewhich almost caused the seller to pull out of the deal since it was such a low value. Luckily, my agent was able to come up with comparables to show that this appraiser was way off and that the house was valued at the price we offered. Then, the appraiser updated his appraisal by using the comparables, but added a note stating that the appraisal was only valid if the seller fixed some chipped paint near a doorway. It was completely ridiculous. The seller was able to fix the chipped paint, and the appraiser requested pictures of the fix to prove that it was fixed. My agent sent the pictures and this appraiser charged us an extra $150 to review the pictures and sign off on the appraisal report. To me, this seemed like a complete money grab.
