Climate First Customer Service was great. Now, with all the AI and glitches I find customer service employees to be very patient. They seem to get the brunt of the systems problems and they have to solve it under usually stressful situations. In my case, I needed to transfer large sums of money to an account in another bank and Lisa Linder stuck with me, got supervisor approval, sent the necessary paperwork and gave me a contact I could follow through with as needed. I really appreciate this bank!! I have been with them for 4 months. It's a simplified, no frills bank and in return it provides highly competitive interest rates on savings and CDs. They have exceptional customer service. I feel good know that my money is going to good causes, and the employees really seem to care. I inquired about a concern over a slight change in rates. I didn't just get a personalize thoughtful explanation, but also the company addressed the temporary rate change in a companywide email along with fixing a small technical glitch. When I first opened my account with Climate I was pleased with the customer service. If I needed something, it was easy to call and get someone on the phone. Now you have to leave a voicemail, but no one returns your call. The latest issue, I was able to talk with someone but she couldn't help me. She put in a ticket to have someone call me back. I originally signed up with Climate First when I was shopping around for a HYSA. Climate First seemed a good option with a 4.12% APY with their Super Duper Savings Account. Their site is not modernized and easy to use like most online banks, which was a big turnoff to me. So I signed up for SoFi and was blown away with all the stuff that they offer and that is when I realized that I was just gimping myself with this bank. Other than a HYSA, there's really nothing Climate First offers. No Student Loan Refinancing, no credit cards, no ability to invest. It just seemed rather silly for me to stay with this bank when I get get a much more streamlined experience with SoFi for a menial APY drop to 3.6%. Not much different from 4.12% and 3.6%. I will leave my Climate First accounts open, but I doubt I'll ever use them. read more

Not a gay/transition friendly bank. I went to open a CD with them and they are the ONLY bank that requires a driver's license out of the 7 banks I've bought CDs with before. I grudgingly gave them my driver's license and then they wanted a video selfie!? Are you telling me this is bank, that is supposedly supporting people that don't feel comfortable in their own bodies, and may be transitioning, by forcing them to reveal themselves in such a violating way, just to deposit money in a CD?! I emailed them twice in two weeks, asking if there was any alternative methods of identification they could use. They wouldn't bother to respond to me either time, and they don't seem to give a phone number for direct contact. I called the at a branch in FL today and they assured me the "digital team" would call me back within 30 minutes. Guess what? Yup, they didn't bother. It's no wonder they offer high CD rates and promotions. Their crap customer service and alienating policies drive most people away. read more

This is one of the worst banks I've ever come across. I selected them several months ago because of their high return interest rates on a no penalty CD. I've occasionally drawn money out of that CD with minimal annoyance. It's a CD I get it. There's a different process to withdraw money. But this most recent experience that I've had with him was nothing short of terrible beginning on Friday of last week, they had some sort of computer software upgrade, which has supposedly caused a backup of all of their transactions that customers are wanting to process beginning Monday morning when the upgrade was supposedly complete and they were back to "" Normal, I needed to make a withdrawal and was told that the process would still be the same and that someone would reach out to me to complete the transaction end of the day Monday rolls around and nothing happened. No phone call no email no nothing. It is now Wednesday evening and I have called somebody different every day since Monday and still, no one can tell me what has happened to my transaction so I am in the process of closing my account and moving it to a bigger bank that actually does business in the 21st-century. Stay away from this bank at all costs unless you want to have your money held hostage. do yourself a favor and avoid this Bank and select a larger more reputable bank to safeguard your money. read more

I had an issue yesterday that made me think my online banking login info could have been compromised. I've been trying to reach someone since 9 in the morning and I haven't managed to. I don't know how many times I've called only to get the answering machine. Instead of putting the customer on hold for however long it takes, what they do is force you to leave a message and cut the call, so there's no queue, and there's no way to speak to anyone. I've called branches, the main number, nothing. A whole morning wasted, and most importantly, if there had been an actual security breach I could have lost my money. What finally pushed me over the edge was that they called me back in the afternoon and, when I picked up, they hung up on me! I'd barely been with them a week. I've already opened an account with another bank and given the order to transfer my money. I was happy to put my savings in an ethical bank, but with this customer service I want nothing more to do with them. read more

I've had a ClimateFirst account for a while. Their customer service is great, and I've interacted with people from many departments. Their rates are excellent. Because we liked them so much and because we support their mission, we decided to get our mortgage through them. HUGE MISTAKE. The loan officer tried to pressure me into getting a loan ("You have to close this today or else I respectfully decline your business"--one day after I contacted him). Then he refused to give me paperwork showing the final interest rate, which I'm pretty sure is illegal. Then he forced us to sign a waiver which was actually optional, which again I'm pretty sure is illegal. Then he refused to answer many questions from us. Finally we were sent to another loan officer. We were on a tight deadline for closing, but instead of sending all of her questions at once, she sent them in a drip over a period of a week. She sent multiple requests for payment to the assessor because she didn't understand how the system worked; thankfully, that company realized she had made a mistake, so we didn't have to pay for multiple assessments. Then she sent the *WRONG LOAN AMOUNT* to the closing company. Because of the bank's multiple delays, we had to reschedule our closing twice. We very lucky that the sellers agreed. Overall, the mortgage department at Climate First is a huge liability to the bank. The mortgage department risks tanking the bank's reputation. We were going to put our business account at Climate First, but there is absolutely no way we'll do that now. This is a great bank that is dreadfully underserved by its mortgage office. This is the bank making loans for solar panels & installation. They offer no "dealer" fees but not no closing costs and there are a number of questionable items in the closing costs. I asked what are in the closing costs and the rep said she emailed it to me but the email said I will not know it until the loan closed! And then she rattled them off over the phone so there is nothing in writing for me to see prior to signing the loan. Also, please be aware that the first payment is due 30 days from the day they "emailed" you the application whether or not you had signed the loan, or authorized them to pay out the payments to the installers, or they had funded/paid the company who install your solar panels or not!! I had to ask three times to get this question clarified in writing. They said the first few payments are only interest payments only so if for some reasons, the installer took 50% of the loan disbursement after the permit was approved (which costs them about $500 even though they lied and said it's $1500) or 100% of the loan disbursement but did not install your solar panels and you are left with no solar panels, you are still responsible for the loan and interest payments unless you disputed with this bank and they can dragg this out to 6 months before considering your complaint and there lies the problem. They wrote the agreement in that the bank and the installer benefit from you and you are on the hook regardless you get the solar panels or whether they work or not! It's like buying a house and you are responsible to pay for the loan regardless the escrow close or you get the house or not. If you do for this loan, negotiate with the installers so that you only have the loan paid out only $1000 after permit is approved and don't sign the authorization for the 50% of the loan payout after the permit is approved and wait until you get the solar panels installed and work for you (PTO-permission to operate from the city) so in case something happens, you can say there were no payments paid out and you are only on the hook for the interest payments or get another loan. Beware of the contract with the installers too, no matter what they say that you can change/ add to the agreement, but whatever on the original electronic signed contract, you are legally responsible for it. read more
