Paperchase at Golden Square from the outside looks like one of the nicer stores in the mall - it is…read morelaid out like a typical Paperchase store with their fancy, cursive logo and the store being basically all glass as the logo is transparent - it is one of the better places to get greeting cards and stationery while in Warrington (diaries and pens type products) I do feel this store has a huge focus on the greetings card range compared to other items Paperchase are known for, however - with the selection of stationery, novelty gifts and filing not as good as other stores - although it is decent for pens, notebooks etc) The staff working didn't stand out as overly friendly, welcoming or helpful - but that is much better than other stores where service was amongst the worst part of the shopping experience nearby which was the case at retailers including Game, TKMaxx and Primark. Pretty traditional Paperchase but dimmed down due to it being in a small town so of course, it can't compare to their nearby flagship store in Manchester - but I do feel even if it meant reducing their greetings card selection to be better with stationery and novelty goods which the store is also known for, would be an idea - as there are many other card stores just a stones throw away including Clinton's and The Card Factory. It's an absolutely gorgeous gifty type shop which sells everything from furniture to knives to fairy wings and you may be lucky enough to get a trendy benningtons bag with your purchase. They don't mind if you just mooch - believe me the shop is designed to encourage people to mooch around, and the upstairs is just as interesting as downstairs. Its really worth a visit. I can never quite make my mind up about these shops, sometimes I enter to find them full of tat I would only expect to see on sale at a seaside resort, other times I find them full of unique statement pieces that are a bargain and would look great in my home. This variety and speedy turnover of stock makes for a great visit either way though as you just never know what you will find. In my opinion one of the best home shops in Warrington, especially when it comes to Christmas-they always pull out all the stops to stock up with inexpensive but beautiful Christmas ornaments-I know i'll be checking back regularily in the run up to Christmas day.

Oh, and the consoles in the room with the vending machines where I spent far too long playing Sonic. And the room that is full of Stuff - I honestly have no idea of the theme of the room, it just seemed to be full of everything that had no other place to be. I loved it - everything from mummified cats to Maori tiki. If you're after an interactive extravaganza, you're in the wrong place. If you want a museum that has a great selection of artefacts and local history, and is free, you'll spend a lovely few hours among the old-school cases.

Since a few years ago, when the entrance area was completely revamped to incorporate a disabled lift, the access is excellent and the foyer is much more welcoming. All of the attendants are extremely knowledgable and will direct you to whatever you wish to see with the minimum of fuss.

There are the hysterical Helen Exley gift books which give a comical perspective on topics as diverse as golf, marriage, sex, and computers. The shop is proud of the local community and sell jigsaws of local spots and print local pictures on tea-towels. I didn't see many flowers though except flower paper flower garlands. If you want your party goods then this is a good place to come. Aren't you just sick of card shops which snootily say that they WILL NOT fill helium balloons? Well Laura's Choice isn't of this ilk. This is a novel little shop full of novelties.
