I loved the fabric and the selection for long arm quilting. I had things in my hands to buy. Then the radio station she had on started telling me all about Jesus and how to be a good Christian. I happen to practice another faith. I do not go into a quilt store to be preached at. I get it, you are working alone and want your station and your music. Use earbuds. Cloth and Quilts has a huge selection of fabric to pick from. They have an excellent selection of Creative Grids rulers that you can purchase. The service is delightfully friendly! Very knowledgeable staff that want to support your creative endeavors! A huge shout out to Susan who is an excellent teacher of all things long arming! I didn't know there was a quilt store in Hilmar. I went there last Thursday and the whole place was wonderful! The people working there were friendly and willing to talk to a newbie quilter. There is a pretty large room that they have classes in and on Mondays and Thursdays they have open sewing for $10. There were many sweet quilters making beautiful quilts! And they were all nice enough to let me look over their shoulders and answer questions. I can't wait to go back! read more

Enormous selection of quilting fabrics, with a variety of period styles. This store is aimed at avid quilters, so the selection of fat quarters is small (and pricey). Staff ignored me, so I browsed and postponed buying decisions for another day. read more

Bright store so it's easy to see true colors. I shop mostly for blenders and I know I will always find a perfect choice here.

Their long arm quilting is wonderful and they carry quality fabric so I give those two things five stars. However, I am only giving two stars because the employees are never friendly or helpful. This is definitely a "clicky" store that doesn't seem overly welcoming to newcomers. I tried a couple of classes and the staff is very friendly to people they know or ones in the quilt guild but otherwise you are left out in the cold. In my opinion, they don't support Bernina owners very well either. I'd never buy a new Bernina here and instead would travel many miles to another dealer and have in the past. I was in the store the other day since there isn't another quilt shop close by and needed some quality fabric. The lights in the sewing machine area were completely turned off; must not want to make any sales. Sometimes a staff member might say hello when you walk in the door but then that's it. I always feel like I'm bothering them to get my fabric cut. Embroidery thread supply isn't well stocked either. I really want to support the local quilt shops as many are closing. But, with this being my only option, I find myself ordering supplies online if I don't have time to head north to a friendlier store. I love going on the shop hops just to experience the welcoming feel of other stores and wishing my local store felt the same way. I really would like to love my local store but just can't at this point. read more

I like the shop, however, I had some embroidery work done. I called to ask questions about cost. I had to speak to Barbara, as she was the one doing the work. I brought in what needed to be done, and again asked the price. Not once was I told cash or check was required for payment. I go in to pick it up. NOW I'm told cash or check. I don't carry cash. I keep the check book just to pay my rent, but I used it instead of driving to the bank. The check wasn't deposited until this month. JANUARY. That's over 4 months after I wrote the check. The entire experience was very unprofessional. When someone calls asking about prices, maybe it's a good time to advise them to bring cash. The lost star is from that alone. The embroidery was very nice. She took a day or two longer than I was told, but I was ok with that. Despite that, they have a wonderful variety of fabric. I do intend on going back for fabric. And I will take cash. Parking is VERY limited. It looks like they teach classes, so work around the schedule if you can. I had my husband drop me off and circle the block so I could arrange the embroidery work. When I picked it up, I went first thing in the morning. read more

Another truly dangerous store. Not only do they have a huge selection of the most unusual and hard to find fabrics, their displays of quilt ideas make your creative juices flow and your mouth water. A tiny bit pricey but well worth it. This is the only place I was able to find Civil War fabrics before they became popular. read more

WOW!! What a find! I love to stop at quilt shops when I'm out of town. This little gem was my last stop on this trip. Went with my girlfriend. From the street it looks like a small store in a small town. Once you are inside the store keeps going and going. They must have every fabric currently on the market. Their book room looks like the public library. Once home, I wanted a pattern I saw in the store. It is one of their own and not a commercial one findable on the Internet. I called them and they were more than happy to help me out. This store proves that quilters are the best! read more

I just received my quilt back after professional long-arm quilting at Cloth and Quilts. My experience with them was positive from start to finish. It's a lovely store, nice and helpful staff, and lots of interesting fabrics. I live far enough away that I had the quilt shipped back and they've done a beautiful job quilting it. I learned how to quilt at Cloth and Quilts and took many classes there. I love the fabric selection and the samples of quilts hung all around the store. I love their first Saturday block of the month, so fun and exciting to see what comes next. I also bought my Bernina there and they had a few classes to learn how to use it properly. I love having a quality quilting/ fabric store in Turlock. I am new to the area and was so happy to find this shop. The sales people have always been helpful while allowing me to take my time looking around and enjoying all of the fabrics and notions.
