Well unfortunately women talk and the word on the street is - people are not going here because of the level of disorganization. So I went in again last week, it had been years. My first thought was- I wonder how many customers never come back because of the mess? Second thought- how many customers have stopped coming because of the mess? If she cannot keep up herself because it is not her nature, she needs to hire someone. If not I predict she will be closed in two years. There was halloween fabric still in plastic, display shelves with nothing on them and the classroom was a pile of junk everywhere. It was horrid. read more

About 3 years ago, my husband and I walked in Quilter's Hollow with an unfinished project that I had in my basement since 2007. The project was a lap size blue and white nine-patch / rail fence quilt. I had it cut and pieced it, but then kinda forgot the project existed. This was my first EVER quilt, since I didn't even know that Stockton had a quilt store. Then it was about 15 years later that I had even SEEN these pieces!! I had brought my husband to this store (he's always been interested in repeated pattern), and we selected a book for his birthday. That's when the owner, Barbara,encouraged us to bring in that unfinished project. It was with her and her staff's positive attitude, and supportive encouragement that I thought I could EVER CONSIDER MAKING anything. That's when I became DETERMINED to finish this 15 year old project. Since then, I have sewed AND actually quilted that rail fence / 9 patch quilt. I still didn't consider myself as "really getting" the whole process---- but I was having so much fun learning, and getting past my own fears at "doing it right" that again with lots of wonderful support and encouragement from Barbara and her staff, I finished a Log Cabin quilt for my mother, a cute sewing cover & mat for myself, a patchwork queen size quilt for my daughter, and restored another queen sized double wedding ring quilt. Barbara and her staff will do anything possible to ensure that your project is successful. Everyone is welcomed, sewers, quilter's, and non-sewers. The store has only premium quality quilter fabrics from well known designers. While finishing that first EVER project, I learned from my own experience why it is so Important to sew on fabric that is of premium quality for quilting. Save yourself frustration, and get long-term quality; don't shop at big box stores, you will not save the money, time, or quality that it's worth. I know from that first project experience. New fabrics are ordered 9 to 12 months in advance, and arrive every week. To address some 1-star reviewers, I would urge you to reconsider by walking back through the store again, and judging your own experience. The store has moved to a larger area building next door; there is less "mess" that a reviewer mentions. And if a collection is not readily available in the store, ask, because Barbara may be using the collection to cut a block of the month for every customers' s availability. I think what matters most is the helpful service, fabric and notion availability (if the owner does not seem to have what you're looking for, ASK because she will want to know what her customers want), and do not forget the quality value you will get for your money!! read more

I'm new at quilting and Barbara, the owner, always always always helps me with the math calculations involved even if it is the fifth time for the same measurement!! I was so happy to find a locally owned fabric store! The first time I came I had to bring my little children and they're a handful. The people at the store were very patient with my little ones and were eager to help. I love all the fabric options. There's so many colors and patterns to choose from. I was able to find pieces of fabric that were on clearance for one reason or another but they're a great deal. They also have a fat quarter section that gets replenished often. I feel like by the next week I went they have new fat quarters to offer. Not only do they sell fabric but thread and anything you may need for quilting for sewing projects. I've met the owner and she's very kind and relatable. She talked to my kids and made them feel comfortable in the store. Also! They have a points/rewards system which is extremely easy to sign up for and to use. read more

The store is a bit chaotic and caters more to an old school clientele, so it's not always my go to when I'm looking for quilting fabrics. That being said, the greatest thing about this store is the owner, Barbara: she is easily one of the kindest shop owners I have ever come across, and she's the reason I go back to this store. Quilter's Hollow is one of the best fabric and quilting stores in the Stockton area. The owner, Barbara, is a lovely person. She goes out of her way to get her customers what they need for their projects. There are a wide variety of classes, patterns, tools, and fabrics available, and if she doesn't have what you want, she can usually find you a great alternative, or in some cases, order what you need. The store is very homey. New customers, and non-sewers are always welcomed, and often offered help finding things (including classes). You can tell it is a good shop because there are regulars who visit often. I've noticed that they too are friendly and willing to help if the owner is busy. The store is convenient to the elks lodge where the local quilt guild meets, and easy to get to. And while the parking lot is not large, I have never had problems getting a parking space. I have noticed some one star reviews and advise you to take them with a grain of salt. Yes the store is relatively small, and she has a ton of stuff available. I can see how it might be overwhelming to someone who is used to places like joanns, but everything is very well organized, and of much higher quality than you can get at a chain store. New fabrics come in literally every day (some of which were ordered pre-covid, I asked). There is a huge variety of fabrics, not just novelty prints like one sour grape would have you believe. The owner takes covid very seriously and asks that people wear masks, and she keeps hands sanitizer available near the door. In my experience, if you do see people there unmasked, it is usually because they are regulars who are already known to be vaccinated. Before you assume I'm exaggerating my review, you should know there are a few shops in the greater Stockton area that I will not go to. My reasons for avoiding those stores include rude employees, boring fabric selections, and racist owners, so I do not make recommendations lightly. Quilter's Hollow on the other hand has everything I want in a quilt shop: a Friendly owner, a good location, a wide variety of high quality tools and materials, and fabrics by all my favourite designers. 10/10 I would recommend Quilter's Hollow. read more

This store has a huge amount of fabric but it is completely disorganized and fabric bolts piled high on floor and register always. It is a hazard for walking. Isles are blocked and you must dig for your items. I have almost fell several times. Help is not always friendly. This is my last resort store when desperate. read more

Awful experience. The owner, Barbara Nemeth, might be the most rude person I've ever met at a quilt shop. We came in on a shop hop tour and immediately walked out. The owner, Barbara will help you find what you are looking for if you are a quilter, sew fashions or love machine embroidery. The classes are wonderful, I especially enjoy Kimberbell embroidery in the hoop projects. The instructor, Joyclin Whelby, is fabulous..she is very patient and I have learned so much from her. Perhaps in person this shop is wonderful. Online was a different story. Barbara, who I assume to be the owner, was very rude and hostile in email exchanges, and non-respecting of privacy. I placed an order for some fabric, but it took nearly 2 weeks before they processed and shipped it. Then there was a shipping mix-up, which wasn't a big deal, but Barbara emailed us both, casually sharing names, emails, and addresses to fix the mix-up. She did not ask if it was all right to share personal information with the other person. Also, Barbara accused me of being a "mistrusting person" "punishing" and "unwilling to send [the other persons] order". I did not yet have the other person's order, yet Barbara continued to accuse me of holding onto this other person's package. It did not matter how polite I was and how many times I explained, she refused to listen and only continued to insult me. read more

I went to Quilters Hollow on a very hot day during the summer of 2015, and was immediately impressed with the coolness of the store, nothing worse than a faulty air conditioner, but the lady who was chatting with a few other ladies, stopped her conversation to greet us and to welcome us to her store. She then invited us in to look around and to let her know if we wanted to talk or ask about anything, then excused herself from our conversation and finished the prior one she was engaged in. This is a very very important thing to me! to be acknowledged as well as excuse themselves from something that they are already in process of is awesome! She did this with proper greetings, great body language and a wonderful outgoing personality! We actually joined up for a class coming up in October 2015 and walked out with a superb selection of fabrics and notions.
