The best...I don't know what else to say as words aren't enough. I was referred to Clothes Fit Alterations on a last minute quest to get a suit. My original intention was to rent, and the first place did not have anything in the short time frame--they referred me to Amani, at Clothes Fit...I was there for only 5 mins and he had the pants, jacket, shirt and tie. This is amazing as I'm tall, and thin, and it's very difficult to have something my size. He quoted me the rental, and also the price new. I decided to buy it -- it was a very good price, and getting a suit isn't easy anymore, especially after Covid. One hour later, it was done! So now, I'm all set...I need it for tomorrow, and the next day, and don't have to worry. As an aside, during my time there, another customer came in to pick up her pants that he hemmed for her. She seemed to know Amani, as though she had been a long time customer. She also looked all business--very professional. It made me nervous, like she had high expectations. Needless to say, she was 100 percent satisfied with Amani's work. If you are in need of an alteration, or need to purchase a suit or tuxedo, you MUST go there. His website lists all of the types of services they offer, as there are other more specific types of alterations that they offer. I rarely write reviews, but I was very impressed. I went to this small family owned business in Ignacio to rent a tuxedo for my nephew to go to the prom. Amon the owner and his wife scurried around to help us. Measuring and fitting him. This was the day before prom. By some miracle they could accommodate us. We rented a black tuxedo,a white shirt ,and black shoes. I was impressed with the level of expertise by this tailor with many years experience. The prices were better than men's wearhouse and everything gets dry-cleaned before you pick it up. I bought a beautiful suit about 15 years ago. Well, that was 15 years ago and this 70 year old body has changed a bit. So I took the suit to Aman to see if it could be altered to fit the newer me. While discussing the feasibility of altering it and evaluating the potential expense I wandered over to take a look at the new suits hanging at the front of the store. Without any pressure whatsoever, Aman showed me three different suits and explained the differences in materials and price points. I decided to purchase the mid-level suit. The pants fit perfectly but the jacket needed some minor alterations. The price of the suit was fair and competitive and Aman performed the alterations for no extra cost. When I returned to pick up the suit I tried on the jacket. Aman felt it wasn't hanging exactly as it should so he kept it a little while longer to make a final minor adjustment. I so appreciated his expertise in tailoring and his desire to send me out the door only with a perfect fit. I appreciate his integrity and professionalism so much and I love the suit which now fits perfectly. And, when I wore it to my daughter's wedding, the limo driver took a moment to comment on how much he liked the suit and, believe it or not, the judge who married our daughter at SF City Hall mentioned how nice it looked, too. I took 3 suits in for tailoring. I felt confident in Aman in his experience and expertise. I was a bit dissapointed when I picked up my suits. 1 Good for him, All the major work was done well. He is tallented. 2. He did a great job modifying the length of a Hugo Boss suit coat. Nice work 3. The small details seamed rushed. the buttons on suit sleves don't line up well. It is obvious it was rushed through. While the sleves were the right length, at $55 for sleves, I expect all aspects of that alteration to be done impecably. 4. He does not own a press. I spent $500 for alterations. I think it reasonable to pick up the suits and have them ready to wear and in excelllent pressed condition. Instead, he told me to get them cleaned. Really, subject my expensive clothing to hash chemicals because you can't press them? I am dissapointed. Get a press. read more

He also took in the pants and jacket at no charge. He is a perfectionist and the suit fit perfect. Look, don't be alarmed by the prices on the suits when you first walk in. They do have some higher priced suits on display, but he had a perfect suit in our budget. My sisters went to Men's warehouse and paid $200 more and the fit and quality of my sons was far superior. I've been getting my alterations done here for 10 years & nobody alters like this family-owned business & for such reasonable prices. They've hemmed my jeans, repaired my played-in-too-hard favorites & even made sexy dresses sexier with my odd requests. The mom (grandma aged woman) has even made quick fixes while I've waited & then just smiles & tells me, "$5" when I ask how much. Keep in mind, jeans are closer to $20 for alterations, but when you spend good money on decent jeans these days, $20 more is nothing to make your butt look better. Aside from the plaza being remodeled and looking very inviting, I had a terrible experience twice at this store. When I went, I worked with a man who I believe is the owner. He wasn't very friendly and wayy over charged me. At the time this was my first time having a suit altered and he took full advantage once he found out. I've since gone elsewhere for a fraction of the price. And to top it off when I brought my clothes back to see if they could make a minor adjustment to the waistline he refused and said he'd have to charge me full price again. Aman is an excellent, continental-style tailor. I am fairly OCD about details but he did the job quickly and artfully. Apparently he is the only competent tailor in the North Bay area because I contacted over seven places and no-one wanted to take the job (putting an additional buttonhole in a cashmere jacket). Aman stepped up with a "no problem" attitude and the results were better than expected. There is a nice selection of European-style jackets available, of styles and quality one is hard-pressed to find in the States. I live in Petaluma but will gladly go to Novato to have my alterations done in the future! read more

I recently used Clothes Fit to purchase and hire some Tuxedo's for myself and my groomsmen for my wedding. My now wife also used Clothes Fit for alterations to her wedding dress. I can honestly say that the received service was impeccable and great value for money. I am from the UK and was getting married in California so it was a difficult job as Aman had to work off measurements emailed to him by my groomsmen in the UK. He didn't have the opportunity to measure them himself. We had a fitting 2 days before the wedding and some alterations were needed but Aman was professional and determined to get us all looking perfect - and he achieved it. He was friendly throughout and patient and offered us useful advice throughout. Not only this, but I saw a material I liked in his store, when I asked if he had a bow tie in this material he said no but seeing the dissapointment on my face, he said "No problem, I will make one for you by hand". Excellent Work, you get what you pay for. I have been going to Clothes Fit for 15 or 20 years, so even before he moved to the current location. The owner does great work, I have never been disappointed. His prices are reasonable considering the quality of the alterations and in my experience, he will always do adjustments without any hassle if they are needed, so I don't know what that negative review was about. If you change your mind about the length, or if you get fatter, that really isn't the tailor's fault, and you should pay for the additional work, right? I buy all Italian clothes and I take everything to Aman to be altered because I trust him to do it right. You get what you pay for. Aman and his wife are extremely kind, professional, and welcoming. I first used their services for a dress fitting very very last minute I might add. As soon as I walked in worried he immediately said, "I will get this done" with no hesitation. He called at the promised time and asked me to return for fitting. When I did he did more than I expected even steamed my dress for my formal event. Again, I returned to use their services after a great experience with them and my pants were perfectly adjusted. I get a lot of tailoring on my clothes. I normally use Jad's on Grant in downtown Novato. They are awesome! Ammen is not! I was referred to this place for a bridesmaid dress fitting. I went in to get fitted and all was fine. When I took the dress home and tried it on, the hem was uneven and the stitching was just flat poor quality. I was a bit upset a went back to be compensated for the trouble. The owner became very confrontational and sad he had given me a deal. I paid $60 for a poor hem job! Not a great deal!! We talked for a few moments and he gave me all the excuses in the book about why the dress' hem turned out the way it did. By the end, he slammed his business card down and told me to take him court. Horrible service! Horrible quality! I would never recommend anyone going there. read more

I had a similar experience to the gentleman who was over-charged and found that they were unwilling to make adjustments. I brought in 4 pieces and paid over $100 for standard alterations. One of the dresses that I had brought in for shortening (simple hem with no lining or anything unusual) I paid $25 for hemming. Even though I had only paid $30 for the dress and I thought the price was really high I decided to go ahead. When I got my dress back it was still about 1 inch too long... I was actually tripping over the hem. I was then informed that I would be charged another $25 to adjust it to where it should have been. I refused and took it to 2 other places where I was quoted $15 and $12. I will never return to this business again. read more

Ignore anything less than 5 stars. This man TRULY knows what he's doing. When you first meet him, he might seem gruff and frank, a wee bit harried and straightforward for most people's tastes. However, he is exceptionally kind, courteous and extremely knowledgable when it comes to his craft. He performed a series of alterations to my gorgeous Leanne Marshall wedding dress--I say dress with a bit of caution because it's made of thin, diaphanous silk charmeuse, with a plunge neck, open plunge back, and leaves nothing to the imagination. In short, I gave him quite the challenge. The fixes? First he added cups, then removed them when I didn't like the look. He took in the pleating at the breast area to make it fit better. He took off an inch at the waist. He pulled up the middle higher so the fabric wouldn't pucker at the midsection. He added three bustles. He hemmed the dress, then lowered it, then re-hemmed it when I realized he was absolutely correct in his initial judgement. He did this all with unwavering patience and respect for my wishes. The result? It fit like a dream and I couldn't have been happier. read more

Years ago I brought in my grandmother's silk flapper dress, adorned with bead work and rhinestones and in bad need of repairs - there were holes and stains throughout.
