The ladies that work here are truly amazing! They are extremely friendly, always there to help and are very fair when it comes to buying my items. Whenever I bring in items for them to buy, I usually stay and shop. For a small space they sure do have a ton of inventory. At times it would take me hours just to look at everything and try things on. They have fair prices and beautiful clothing. They are very fair when they buy clothing. I've had very good luck with them and they fold my clothing back into the totes when finished which I appreciate. They usually have really great sales as well! read more

It's funny when I read these reviews because I think most peoples issues are they think their items are super valuable but forget this store has so much so they are only looking for certain things during certain times. I was kind of upset once but the lady explained and I listened with an open mind and put myself in their shoes. If they took EVERYTHING this place would look like the goodwill on whipple which they need to say no as well. This place has to get rid of clothes in order to take more on. I got on here originally to look up the time they were open today but instead caught myself getting offended for them and it' just sucks as a fellow human that works directly with the public. Women are more brutal then men and deserving of more grace! Won't go out of the way for a really good review but will sit in the car and write a script to make sure they ruin someone else's day! I've been blessed enough to go live in another county and was spoiled with the love they have for each other and then had to come back here to a bunch of savage personalities like every one is out to get them. I am surprised of the overall poor rating of this Clothes Mentor, but I wasn't surprised that most poor reviews are people salty about CM not wanting to purchase the items they brought in to consign. In my opinion, I'm GLAD they're very strict on what they purchase. It means they sell better quality/newer season items. I've both bought snd sold at CM, and I love this location. It's bigger than others and fully stocked with everything sorted by type of item and size. They run great discounts at the end of the season. Their everyday prices are pretty fair. As they look through every item they accept from consignors, their items are always in excellent condition and from a current season. While I sometimes see something my mom might be more likely to wear than myself, I always see things that feel "my style." I believe they try to sell gently worn clothing that appeal to all styles. I am not plus size or particularly petite, so I don't have a comment on their selection of special sizes. They do have a significant maternity selection. Over the years, they've always had consistently nice items, friendly staff, and clean fitting rooms. To address some reviews below, here are some of the brands I see there often: Vera Bradley, Gap, CJ Banks, Loft, Ann Taylor, Vince Camuto, Kohl's brands, Chico, Macy's brands Style & Co and Inc, Max Studio, and unfortunately, Target. Last time I went I saw a pretty heavily worn Lilly Pulitzer shirt. Nothing there has ever been truly "designer." They always have Coach and Michael Kors bags, you can decide if you think those are designer or not. :) Back to consigning, they typically only want current items so forget about bringing anything with a stain, minor wear, etc. Don't bring things you found at Walmart. They won't buy them. Most of your clothes have little tags inside that says a month and a year, or a season snd a year. If that date isn't within the last year or two, they again won't buy them. They want excellent selling brands that women actually want to wear, not trash you found at the bottom of your closet from 5 years ago. They don't buy any juniors brands - take those next door to Plato's closet if they're recent snd in excellent condition. I will warn you to drop off your items first thing in the morning on a slow day. If you end up waiting on a weekend, it could be multiple hours before they want you to pickup your unsold items. (And I promise, you will have items they don't want.) One annoying part is that they want you to pick up the unsolds the same day you drop off. So just make sure you're planning on it. And expect next to nothing. $2-3 for items they actually take is what I've gotten from some of my more expensive brands. Frankly, I only bring in things that won't sell for me on eBay/Poshmark. I wish they offered more expensive brands, but I do love how easy it is to shop, the atmosphere, and the savings from paying retail. It's perfect if you're looking for something particular or have no idea what you want and just want to browse. Tip: Ask to purchase their reusable bag. Not only can you put your purchase in it and save the environment, but it will earn you a small discount every time you shop. read more

I am very disappointed in this place!!! Today I was discriminated against and talked about. Initially when I walked in it was 3 nice ladies whom I laughed and talked with. However when I walked in 1 hour the tone in the room changed. The girls I had been laughing with changed body language by giving me dirty looks. Stacie said to the other woman who were going through items that she insisted on going through my items herself after seeing my name on a buy. I watched her lift a few things out of basket and then take nothing. Her reason was the items were for Plato's. Items like new coach, new vera bradley, kate spade , torrid etc. I overheard Stacie tell the employees not to buy anything because she looked up my selling history and notice I sold at another clothes mentors a few days prior. I later grabbed my basket stacie then said "have a nice day!" I kept walking because it wasn't genuine and she then yelled I SAID HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!!! Very aggressive of her but, realizing it's a mental illness & identifying the narcissist behavior in plain sight I ignored her & left out. Walked over to Plato's closet next door and they said I had a bunch of nice MATURE items that clothes mentors can take! When I let them know how clothes mentor treated me they agreed they weren't surprised at all!! Always good vibes in there and they took some items as well. Nonetheless; I have online closets that I sell my items and when I have no room for it. I sell my overflow clothing to places like clothes mentor & Plato's closet. I have a masters degree in psychology , 2X author & I'm a content creator who has 30 thousand followers on all social media platforms. I'll be sure to get the word out that this place discriminates on young black woman!!! Stacie is extremely miserable and unhappy with her life!! I recently took a basket full of clothes to Clothes Mentor in Canton. They only took a couple of items and returned the rest in the basket. Unfortunately I did not go through them until about a week later and discovered two items were missing that I was not paid for. Needless to say I was quite upset and very disappointed with that! If I was a size small, medium, or large, I'd probably have another star to give. But their plus-size selection takes about 7 minutes to go through...Maybe 100 items total in the entire store. Which makes it even more curious how many plus-size items they reject. I recently threw away or donated 9 large bags of clothing, but I set aside the nicest, higher-end, many NWT items for resale/consignment. I was in the area on Tuesday so I decided to start with Clothes Mentor. While they inspected my items I browsed, rather shocked at the lack of plus-size selection. As for the brands, I saw a lot of unknown names and about 15 faded Old-Navy tees. The designer handbags were from way more than 2 years ago, which I know because I have owned several that I saw in the store. Some are at least 10 years old. They have WAY too high prices on Coach and MK bags that were originally outlet store editions. I saw a Coach that I bought new at the outlet for $40, priced at $55 at CM, and it had pen marks inside. After reviewing my 22-item selection of Nine West, Lauren Conrad, Maurice's, Avenue, Torrid, ALFANI, Forever 21, Gloria Vanderbilt, Seven, and Lane Bryant...they offered me $7 for 2 items. I'm left to assume there's some bias here against plus sizes, or at least a lack of understanding of plus-size style, brands, and trends. If I was still wearing the sizes I took in, I'd be thrilled to find any of those items in their store. Maybe someone should open a high-end plus-size-only resale store where women can feel comfortable and included. Edit: After I posted this review I found the tag that came back with the rejected items. Some of the reasons were: clean/repair - I carefully checked each item because I know of resale/consignment standards. This was the cream of the crop and all freshly laundered that day. Missing items/pieces - Absolutely not. Every button or embellishment was in place. I even wrapped the belts around the dresses that come with belts. Interesting to note - I bought a dress there that day, and when I got home realized it has two small belt loops but didn't come with a belt. SIZES TOO LARGE/SMALL FOR STORE. Well that confirms it. Nothing was larger than a 2X/20. They rejected items for being too big, yet have a very small selection of plus size in the store. They must not want curvy women to shop there because they are turning down beautiful plus size items for being TOO LARGE. read more

This location is HUGE and has a lot of inventory. I'm from Florida and found this store to fit my wants and budget. I was able to browse each section as it's easily labeled and throughout my shopping experience, I had 2 different associates offer to help if I wasn't finding things- which wasn't the case. I purchased items from their athletic wear, shoes, and long sleeves. This seems like a busy store with a lot of great trade ins for clotting. Good place to avoid. Great concept but the employees are extremely rude. My wife and I took some clothes in to sell this past Saturday and I was taken aback by the employees. We went in with some items that we were planning to donate but thought on a lark we'd see if they'd offer us anything for them. We went in not expecting much but I get the feeling that the employees must argue often with people who think their clothes are worth more. We went to the drop off area and spoke with Tiffany. She gave us the form and we filled it out. After filling it out we wondered if they would call us back with their offer and if no offer if we could just leave with them to donate to charity as it indicated on the form. I asked "when will you be able to call us back?". She snapped at us quickly "Didn't you read the form?". Wow. I was in shock. I stood there for a few seconds and said "ok....well when do you close and do you think you will be calling us before closing time?". "I can't quote you a time" she said quickly. We left and went out to the car laughing at such rude behavior. A few hours we saw a missed call. We called back to the number and it was the store. My wife asked "hey i saw i missed a call". The lady on the phone "Elena" snapped at my wife. "I left a message". A. who checks messages and B. Wow again. In short don't go. They offered us 18 bucks for a lot of stuff which was fine...we didn't really go in expecting anything but the overall customer service will not have us every step foot in the store again. read more

Let me preface this review by saying that unlike some other reviewers, I don't get offended when my items aren't accepted at resale shops. I'm a reseller myself and I know that you have to be discerning to make a profit. I do, however, take offense when certain employees consistently have a condescending demeanor toward customers (did you forget you're peddling obviously used Liz Claiborne and Old Navy?) and reject my clothes because they claim they're "stained and outdated." Everything I brought in today was purchased at this location three weeks prior (and no, it wasn't on clearance) and there wasn't a stain to be found - I examined everything prior to (and especially after) bringing my items in. Reject away, but don't lie or insult me in the process. On a side note, their website claims they sell brands such as "Burberry, Chanel, Chloe, Christian Dior, Christian Louboutin, DVF, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Gucci, Hermes, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Prada, St. John, Tory Burch, YSL, Vince", etc. I can guarantee you that you will never find any of these brands at this store - ever. This place is terrible. I took 18 garbage bags full of clothing and accessories and they managed to find nothing they wanted to buy. Not one thing. They had an attitude from the start when they saw me bringing so many bags in. They then claimed my clothes were "out of style". I'm not sure who at Clothes Mentor is the authority on what's in style, but I pretty much wear my clothes a couple times and then pass them on. I go through my closet several times a year. I thought the store was clean and set up nice. The girl working the fitting rooms was pleasant. Better quality than goodwill but nothing I would consider "high end" or "luxury". I also thought the prices were fair. Lots of small medium and large sizes, fair amount of XL very little 1x or 2x, a rack of maturity, and tons of shoes. However, when standing in line waiting to be checked out there was one girl ringing people out, one girl sorting through bins, and 3 just standing around talking to each other. One did finally open and ring out the lady in front of me and then walked away while I was still standing there waiting. After reading the other reviews I just don't think they have any idea about good customer service. read more

I've been a customer here for years( selling, trading, buying) The last two times I've been in there, the rudest person yet has checked me out: Melissa. I did not know WW members got 10% off. When she went to give me the total ( before she accepted payment)a few weeks ago, I responded , I didn't see you took WW?! She responded , " well just use it next time!" The other day I came in and had a bag of clothing to trade in and looked around. I had the same employee. I contacted management after she did not apply my trade amount to new purchases. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I have shopped here several times with no issues but yesterday I was treated so rudely by the employees. I'm a 23, almost 24 year old woman. I still wear some junior clothing, but mind you that I also own a business and have a lot of professional "Women's clothing". I also was getting ready to hit the gym after i had dropped off my clothes so I was wearing workout clothes.. Keep this in mind as I tell you my lovely experience. So anyways... I had three bags of clothes that I was planning on donating to goodwill, but obviously if I could make any money on them, it was worth a shot. So I took my clothes to Platos right next door first. They found several items and paid me 32.00. Thanks Platos! I still had several items left, so I went to clothes mentor. In my bags were all of my nice women's clothing.. nice dress pants, sweaters, dresses etc.... The lady behind the counter noticed the tape on my bags from Platos and asked if I had just come from there. So i said "yeah." and she quickly snapped at me that they "Only sell women's clothing and if you just came from platos then we won't be interested in anything you own" and then started rambling off several clothing brands they buy. I told her that there were a lot of nice clothes in my bag and that I don't only wear junior style clothing. And she quickly snapped at me again in a very nasty tone saying "I didn't say you don't have nice clothes we just don't buy anything juniors and we don't like when they're mixed together, you need to separate them!" ...WOW. So i handed her my stuff and she asked if i'd wait in the store and I said yes. She said to look for my name on the board and no longer than 2 minutes later, I see my name written. They didn't even LOOK through my bags. I go up to see if they bought anything and I get a different lady. SHE TOO is super rude and tells me "This is ALL junior stuff, we don't want any of it, the only thing we can buy are these heels." Okay Lady.. because I'm sure you ACTUALLY looked through my things in two minutes. At that point I just had to leave because it wasn't even worth getting into it with them. Just because I'm younger looking and was wearing workout clothing and not all professionally dressed doesn't mean I'm not a professional and that I don't own professional clothing. I felt like Julia Roberts in pretty woman when the snobby store owners wouldn't serve her because of the way she was dressed. Ever since this store moved to its new location it has gone downhill. The quality of the clothing selection has visibly declined and the prices have gone up steeply! I have also "donated" items through them when they didn't want to buy them and saw some of these things on the rack at my next visit. Despite that you can still get the occasional good bargain. When you do find something that fits, you know it has been purchased and worn by real women. Overall, worth a try but be fussy about what you choose. read more

These used clothing places, Clothes Mentor (for your business and upscale closet) Platos Closet (for casual wear), and Once Upon A Child (Kids clothing and accessories) are all the same business with side by side store fronts. I love the pricing on the kids clothing. The adult clothing is a little pricey for used clothing, but I have to say its worth it. Their clothes are always clean and thank god, so are their stores. I despise used clothing stores that smell and are dirty. I rate these stores a 4 out of 5 because I do have one complaint. The employees, especially the younger female ones, tend to be a little on the condescending side. Other than the employees, its a great shopping experience! read more

One of THE WORST places to take your clothes. I recently took a large tub of clothes that were name brand, barely worn, and never placed in a dryer. etc. After waiting in the store for them to decide what they wanted, they chose 1 blouse from White House Black Market that I paid $96 for & offered me $3 claiming that the other clothes were "older." I can assure you that they weren't. Many of the clothes in the store to purchase were from Walmart, looked completely worn, and not true to size (probably from being shrunk in a dryer). I would recommend going here as a last resort and leaving with enough money to purchase a Happy Meal for your child. In addition, the employees are rude, condescending and other wise need to learn the proper way to interact with a client when they don't accept their clothes. read more

Until today, I was a satisfied customer. I took a freshly dry-cleaned Calvin Klein Dress into the store. I purchased the dress less than two years ago, and wore it three times. Since it was a classic, "little black dress" in a size 24, I figured it would be a desired item for resale. Wrong. The woman who waited on me gave my dress a cursory glance, declared it to be "out season", and said they couldn't take it. When I pressed for details, she handed me off to another saleswoman who said they only take items that are less than two years old. I explained that the dress can still be found online, but to no avail. The clerk also found a miniscule spot on the bottom of the dress, and said they also couldn't take the dress because of the spot. I have shopped at this store for years, and have seen lesser-quality, worn-looking older items from Walmart, Target, and Kmart on their shelves every time I go in. This is not a high-end resale shop, but the clerk acted as if I was attempting to sell a worn, dirty, and outdated piece of clothing. She also questioned whether I had ever been in the store before: as if I was a new customer to the store - unfamiliar with "their" standards. I have spent much money in this store, but will not be going back. They didn't have to buy my item, but they left much to be desired in their demeanor and customer-appreciation behaviors. read more

I have never been so insulted at a store in my life! I buy upscale clothing and sell it on ebay or resell it to consignment shops. I am not a novice as I have been in the retail business most of my life. I am never insulted if a store chooses not to buy my items but won't put up with condescending and downright mean employees. I brought in authentic, practically new purses including Prada and Kate spade along with many other new items with tags. The one lady smelled items in my basket before she actually looked through it and said they smelled musty and not to bother bringing in other bins. Now I have a keen sense of smell and was blown away not only by her accusations but the manner in which she talked down to me. Afterwards she saw some of the purses and said she would look at them. I chose not to let her do me such a favor. As i walked out another customer came up to me and said "before you came in, i was just telling my daughter how these are the rudest employees ever." Clothes mentor isn't that impressive because when u bring in clothes to sell they only buy like new clothes so why do they say the word vintage on their slogan yet they said to me and my sister that our clothes our out of date!! How do they know what's in style and what's out of style!! Doesn't make sense to me!! Take the word VINTAGE out of their slogan since they don't buy old clothes only what's new so to speak!! The location I was at is chapel hill ohio. Not sure if these folks understand that when someone comes in to buy its how they make money. I understand, they may have been busy, but not one of them had the ability to acknowlege that I was waiting at the counter to buy. I pulled my phone out and timed them. I stood for over 5 minutes once i started to time them, before I just walked out.. That was about 10 minutes ago and Im sure the clothing will sit for another hour before they even realize I left.. No customer service skills, one of them could have said, we will be with you soon or something.. The location in canton understands this, maybe they can give the chapel hill location a few lessions. Was not impressed with the customer service. Very unfriendly when I walked in the door. I had some dress pants that I wanted to sell. I bought them brand new just a couple months ago, paid $40-$80 for the 5 pairs of dress pants I wanted to sell them. They offered me $3 for one pair. When I declined selling them the pair of pants that they choose, again they were very rude to me. I think I would have better luck selling my clothes at a consignment shop. Although I wouldn't get money right on the spot, I'd get more in the end! read more

This establishment has the rudest employees I have ever met. We brought a group of clothes in to sell and I have never experienced a more condescending attitude. Their comment that they only accept clothes that were in a store within the last 6 months to a year is rubbish. The trash I saw displayed there is dated. The colors they chose to put in the window as their top designs are at least two years old. Really purple and lime is on display now? Show me that color combo in the stores currently! Who purchases an article of clothing and decides to sell it within 6 months. Really???? How unrealistic. They had a Liz and company coat, that I actually owned purchased new that is at least 3 years old. Some of the items I brought in were brand new with the tags still on them, my youngest had a massive growth spurt in one month. They offered to donate the clothes, but would not give me a receipt for that. I bet they just say they are donating them and then sell them after the person leaves. They offered me less then a dollar for the new items. I would never shop here and I certainly will never bring anything here to sell. read more

I have been a long term customer buying and selling to the store. They were running a deal if you bought their store bag for $4.00 they would give you $2.00 off every time you brought the bag back to the store and purchased a full price item. I brought the bag back on my next visit and used it to carry in the items I wanted to sell to them. At the check out the bag was on the counter during my transaction. I purchased $30 worth of merchandise and when I asked for the $2.00 off, they denied me, claiming that the cashier was unaware that I had the bag. This is just bad business dealing. I have been using the bag outside of the store, which is free advertising for them and I brought the bag back to the store and made a purchase, as required to receive the discount and yet they would not give me $2.00. I am very frustrated with this establishment. I have taken clothes, shoes, purses, belts, jewelry etc. there many times. Most of the items were designer such as Ralph Lauren, Coach, Gucci, Michael Kors, Jones of New York, Chico's, and Coldwater Creek, which are all brands that they claim they will take, and they did NOT want them. I take very good care of my clothing, i.e., no rips, tears, buttons missing, discoloration, etc. These designers have a uniqueness about them and classic lines that do NOT go out of style. Do NOT clean out your closet because they take VERY little and you will end up dragging most of the items home with you. The last time I was there I took 4 items that I purchased there just to see what would happen....the employee looked at all 4 of them and said that she couldn't take any of them because they were out of date....when I told her that I had purchased them at her store 2 weeks before that,. She claimed she didn't recognize any of the merchandise, so I pulled out the receipt...she was a bit flabbergasted! I now take all of my used clothing to Encore or the Crowded Closet.
