I don't live in rock hill so i don't go in-store very often but their online store is where its at! Free in-store pick-up is a life saver. I'm from out of town and went to Clothes Mentor in Rock Hill. It was a big let down. All the staff I encountered were very nice. However, I felt the prices were hugely inflated for used clothes. The selection of clothing felt rather dated as well. I actually found better deals and selection at Value Village and Upscale Cheapskate. read more

I recently took a bunch of nice clothes there. They only accepted 10 items and returned the rest. When I asked why? She responded "They dont accept clothes older than 4 yrs old." I told her my nice Crown and Ivy tops were fairly new. She said "It may just be the style" I called in advance and was never told of the 4 yr. limit. Total waste of my time and gas! read more

To shop, this place is great! To sell, they are a royal pain. I brought in two large bins of very good quality clothes including designer names like Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and more items that were listed on their website as being wanted by the store. I also brought in new lucky brand jeans with tags, athletic wear with tags and more and the desk denied both full bins. They did not except a single thing that I had to offer, with the only reason I got being that some clothes were out of season. Never mind the fact that most were summer and spring styles, with some pairs of pants that can be worn year round. I attempted to sell at the beginning of summer. It's my favorite place to shop. I only wear second-hand clothes and this place is so well organized, priced and stocked! Everything is in size order by item and color! As a seller: If you want to be super selective about what products you buy, fine. But you should be up front about that. I went with a stack to sell, all brands that were listed as in demand on their website (White House Black Market and New York and Company). They only took one dress from the stack and it was one I purchased barely a year ago. Worth noting, it was not in better condition nor was it a more modern style than the others, just a few years newer. They clearly only want very new clothes. It was frustrating that I made a special trip to CM, left with only $2.90 in my hand, and still had to go to Goodwill with the remaining clothes. From now on, I will save the time and effort and go straight to Goodwill. As a consumer, I only find it worth shopping at CM when they're running an end of season clearance sale. Otherwise, you're still paying $12, $18, $20 etc for brands you can just as easily find at Goodwill for a fraction of the cost. read more

What a waste of time. I was told they couldn't take my clothes because of wear and our of date. These clothes still had tags on them and shoes were still in the box brand new. Don't fall for it. They know you won't take the clothes back and they will use them themselves or make money off them. So funny she told me the shoes are out of date and go to the website and the girl to the very right has on almost same shoe. I let them keep 3 baskets of almost new office wear and jeans etc. Nothing was worn out or used much. Also left them a 300.00 body fat reducer with red LED lights. Really like this store and staff is usually very friendly. While I was in line today two girls in front of me and cashier were bad talking a customer and making comments on her purchases and body size. the two girls who I assume worked there as well because they knew all the girls behind counter were making some very harmful comments. not really an issue with purchase but not very professional Behavior. I have been here a few times. There is one girl that is very friendly and helpful that I have seen every time I go there. A different girl greeted me this time and was very friendly. Another employee that opened the dressing room for me was not rude but not super friendly either. There was one woman behind the counter that seemed to have a bad attitude and was not friendly like the other employees - maybe it was just a bad day for her?? It's not in the most spectacular part of town but it's seriously about time Rock Hill saw a higher end shop like Clothes Mentor. Platos closet is great- if you're in junior high. Honestly, I love this place. I'm hooked. They have a variety of sizes, brands, and styles all for amazing prices. When you go for the second time and the cashier you had last time remembers you and can hold a genuine conversation and cares what you have to say? You don't find customer service like this often. I will say that even before they opened I had an issue with their service, but I went in and tried to give them a chance. (I REALLY wanted to be proven wrong about them) Bottom line....I can buy newer, nicer, and unworn versions of what they're selling at TJMaxx. The manager lets the one person I have seen preview incoming clothes run the show. Who is quite rude and talks to customers like a robot. They do not select clothing for the area SHE selects clothes for her personal choice. I was told no vintage and saw a very clearly vintage polyester shirt on the rack. It saddens me be cause I was excited about this store being a new age thrift store in my neighborhood and then some of the staff has ruined it. I will not get into her rude and unacceptable comments I heard made in the hour and twenty minutes I waited for what was supposed to be 15 minutes. Unfortunately they will NOT be getting my business.
