Very poor customer service. When you are trying to sell them clothes, they make you feel like a 2nd class citizen, make you wait an unreasonable amount of time and then belittle your clothes (all higher value brands like JCrew, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Madewell etc) and then they extremely lowball their offers. Plus, they try to trick you into only receiving store credit instead of cash, by making you wait hours for them to make their valuations and then if you do leave and wait for their call, they make sure not to call you until it's too late to get cash and will only give store credit. Definitely go to Plato's Closet instead of getting cheated by Clothes Mentor. read more

I recently visited this establishment and I soon as I walked into I was overwhelmed by the big spiel I was bombarded with at the door. Looking the the large amount of clothes became to be a large task because there seemed to be no air, it was very hot I actually feel sorry for the workers. While I was shopping workers continued to ask me if they could hold my items which got annoying after a few times. The selection of clothes was okay which is why I understand the "low" prices. The peak of my trip was I asked the young lady checking me out if she liked a pair a shoes I was looking at because I liked the pair of black cutout sandals she had on and she honestly said no. every time i go they change their pay structure! i brought beautiful Talbots dresses with tags intact, a St. John dress...they wanted to give me like $8 a dress...good place to shop....horrible place to sell your stuff! also they told me it would be a 15 minute wait ..turned out to be 45 read more

I have mixed feelings about this store. The clothes and bags are sometimes reasonably priced. The staff is horrible and often rude. I was given a birthday coupon via email and was given "Clothes Mentor cash" when i went to the Xmas in July event. Apparently you cant use these coupons like ever bc they can not be combined with anything and it just seems like a ploy to get you in the store. I was going to spend over a 100 bucks in the store but once the sales person explained their "rules" i left because whats the point of getting coupons and "cash" if you can not use them. Please work on your game plan for getting and KEEPING customers. read more

Went for a second time today. Not so great. Went in and it wasn't busy, a few minutes later they got pretty busy. I waited about 45 minutes for the young lady to look at only a few items in my bag to decide she didn't want any of them, the bottom of the bag was completely untouched. Completely disappointed, don't plan on ever returning, in the future will donate my items to families that will appreciate them. read more

This place is an absolute joke filled with very rude employees. Brought some stuff to sell in great condition I.e. Brand new Isabella Oliver maternity items, Nicole Miller skirt, BCBG dress etc.. And they "passed" on every single item claiming there was a "dark spot" on a heather grey dress which is ridiculous as there are many dark spots on this dress because it is ...uhh heather grey and that's how the material color is...then when I asked what was wrong with the two black Isabella Oliver dresses ($200 a piece retail) the lady who never looked me in the eye replied "I don't know but I am not Questioning the person who looked these over" I asked again if she personally would look at them just to see what she said and she refused. Needless to say I will not be coming back to this place. I will instead continue to take my things to Kindred Spirits in Wexford as their employees are WAY more polite,helpful and willing to explain reasons for not accepting any items. As far as the inventory of Clothes Mentor, the first description that comes to mind is mediocre at best. Definitely for an older crowd. May explain why she seemed to have no clue what Isabella Oliver was....concerning when they claim to sell high-end brands (including maternity) yet they don't know what they are. Never try to get a job at this place if you can't handle someone degrading you. My friend had an interview there and she was very upset with the way she was treated. She told me all about it...very unprofessional! The store overall I would consider okay. Very organized. The people are kind of right in your face. But I do understand that some people like that. read more

They don't even deserve one star! Today was the first time I have ever gone to clothes mentor and I went to sell clothes. I was told it would be 45 minutes because they were backed up and if I didn't come back by the end of the night, I didn't get it. So I waited because I don't live close and I had just finished work. An hour later, I asked how much longer and I was rudely told it would be another half hour. I said I was told 45 minutes and she barked "no, I said 45-one hour." I held my phone up and showed that I had been on the call for 55 minutes. She said someone would look now and when they call me up, she says they aren't buying anything but two shirts, I bought two shirts so I ended up owing $12 and she hands me the shirts with no bag and says have a good day. I cannot even begin to describe how bad their service is but no one should EVER go there!! read more

I never write reviews but this might have been the Worst experience I have ever had selling clothes I have often sold before to platos closet and had a great experience. Found the staff very unhelpful. I called this morning asking if they were accepting summer clothes. They said yes. I brought all high end clothes in good condition (lily Pulitzer, Express, anthropologie, BCBG) on hangers they told me they would not accept on a hanger and gave me a Basket to put the clothes in. 3 hours later I did not hear from them so I called not only did they have my basket under the wrong name they offered me 4$ for one dress that I originally paid 75 for from express and still had tags on. When I asked why that was all they took the cashier informed me that they were not accepting summer clothes. If they would have told me that when I specifically asked on the phone I would not have wasted my time! Will not be back. read more

I read the reviews and was hesitant to go into the store, I went in anyway to give it a try, I will say I do not understand the negative reviews. I was greeted right away both days, they explained the process, they explained the wait or drop off , the first day I waited and they did not buy anything, which I understood and they felt bad and explained why, I was ok and brought some other items the next day, which they did purchase some and explained the purchase and also explained why they did not buy others and they felt bad, which was very nice of them. I've been to other re-sellers and by far they are the nicest and they gave me a fair amount for the items I was selling. They have a terrific code of ethics that genuinely touched me because they are sincere! Hard to find good people in this world, harder to find kind people! I moved to Brookhaven over the summer and was thrilled to see there was a Clothes Mentor near my new home. I needed a new wardrobe because I had given birth recently and was no longer in maternity clothes. The staff was lovely; they were extremely kind, friendly, and patiently explained how to find my size throughout the store. The store's organization is impressive and all of the items I tried were in excellent condition. I know some reviewers are bothered when items they try to sell to the store are turned down, but the upside of that is you can count on the merchandise to be new or like new. I for one am glad they have high standards. It sets them apart from donation thrift stores and really makes a difference in the shopping experience. Bottom line, I bought several shirts, jeans, jewelry, & coats I'm excited to wear and get many compliments. I've sold several items in my closet that no longer fit and don't take it personally when a few are declined. This is truly my favorite store and I'm so glad they are so organized and have such high standards in what they buy & sell. read more
