I'm pleased with the pricing and while there are some outdated items overall the selection is good. They have only bought 2 items from me before so that's a little unfortunate but not major. If I could give this store no star I would , I came in last Saturday to take in a few pieces I've never worn clothes with tags and brand new Tory burch sandals only worn once 4 pairs of heels I've never worn all original box brand new clothes with tags , the girl that took the clothes at the register told me to wait 30 min or less so I did and something told me not to come here again because a few of my friends And family members who are (black ) like me told me they only offer Pennie's for our items and I've seen it done before with my own eyes , this girl looked me in my face and told me all my items were only worth $27.00 , I almost laughed in her face she must have thought I was a local drug addict to offer me $27 for all my items and what took me out was my Tory Burch sandals were $195 worn once to think I would take Pennie's for them you had to be on drugs yourself they don't think black people items are worth anything. And it shows every time I would never in my life tell anyone to shop or sale here I never leave reviews but this had me so hot lesson learned !!!!! read more

Reviewing the current sales and promotions, letting you know what certain color tags mean and where clearance items are located. They always offer to take my items until I am ready to try on. I am really glad I gave this store another shot. When I first went in (when they were just opening) I was a little underwhelmed at the selection that was available. I must say though credit is due and they really have a very nice selection of high end brands for pretty darn great prices. I left this time with a coach wallet for $35.00, and I love it. I sold some items and they gave me $13.00, so even more of a savings. If you haven't been here in a while you should go back and give it a shot. I dropped my clothes off at 2:15 and got a text they were ready around 4:30. No problem. Mind you i dropped off 2 bags of clothes, mostly all Old Navy or Torrid. Worn a few times or new with tags. This worker looked me with a serious face and offered me $9.00 and some change for clothes with the tag on it. I had brand new Torrid boots with the price tag on them saying $89.56. I really wasn't that happy with this place. It beats Plato's Closet only in that the staff is not surly teenagers who ignore you most of the time. However, this staff is super chipper and have a whole memorized spiel that they give to everyone who walks in the door. No big deal; I'm sure they're required to do that. There are tons of clothes, but I found literally nothing I wanted. A lot of it was pretty middle-age (and frankly, matronly.) My real issue was with trying to sell them some Kate Spade purses. They were current styles within the last 2 years. So they told me it would take about 40 minutes to price them, which I think is excessive for 2 items, but I guess they go strictly in order of who got there first. As I was walking away, I heard a lady ask if the tote bag I just turned in was for sale because she really was interested in it. I come back 40 minutes later, and they tell me that they don't want the tote bag because it had marks on it (not true--both of these items were used for a total of 3 weeks tops because I ended up not liking them). And as for the handbag I brought in (ARV $210), they offered me $35. I couldn't believe they didn't take the tote with practically a guaranteed buyer. Look, I understand depreciation and I understand that they have to turn a profit, but I was at least expecting $50 for the handbag. They had some DB bags there but nothing else even close to designer. I just kind of had to laugh, grab my bags, and get out of there. I can't really see myself going back. But if you have a bunch of clothes that you just want out of your house and don't care how much you get for them, this might be an option. read more

I just brought in two large containers of clothing. I have been sorting through clothes and made a pile of "donation clothes" and another of clothes I thought were sell-able. I am not the kind if person who just dumps whatever in a bag and expects money for it. While a few items were questionable- I was shocked to have all but a few items returned to me because they didn't meet the "requirements". Upon questioning, I was at first told that the items didn't meet the two year maximum requirement. When I stated that all items in the one bin they returned had all been purchased in the past year (I know this because I recently lost a lot of weight and was flying through sizes at one point) and some were worn once or twice. I was then told they were stained. Upon asking to see the stains they took out one item that clearly had a make up stain and I can certainly understand why they turned that down. However, the other top had NO VISIBLE STAINS. I just went through every other "stained" piece and none had a single stain visible to my eye. Perhaps I have an untrained eye though. But even the girl there had to brig another girl over because she wasn't even sure why it was turned down. I was also told my J Crew jeans, Loft shorts and pants, Gap items all had "pilling". It was ridiculous. And here's the kicker- four pair of pants were purchased at Clothes Mentor a few months ago, as I was losing weight, and were never worn. Yet- they didn't make the cut this time? I literally brought them in in the same condition I purchased them in. Seems something is amiss here. It's a shame- because I really like this store but their buying policy seems odd to me and rather "willy nilly". Very disappointed Clothes Mentor! read more

I visited the Clothes Mentor in Springfield PA yesterday for the 1st time, never been to any Clothes Mentor stores, so was a little confused about how it all worked. As soon as I walked in, the sales staff greeted me, even when they were alittle busy . Jessica explained everything, how it works, what they accept, all promotions, everything. She went above and beyond for this customer. Answered any questions I had, and when trying to find something, she took me to area, not pointed or said over there, she stopped what she was doing, took me to area, and pointed out exceptional deals. It was an absolute pleasure visiting this store. Customer service is few and far between in this day and age, but not at this store. So I decided to sell to Clothes Mentor this time. I was greeted by a lovely associate, she went through all of the selling guidelines and I thoroughly understood them. I was told that I could leave or wait the 20 minutes it would take to look over my items. I looked around for a couple mind then left the store. Came back in and my transaction was complete. They decided to take 3 items. A pair of Coach loafers that I've owned since 2009, badly scuffed bottoms. A pair of yoga pants that I've worn over and over. And a red Old Navy top. I received $16.50 for those items. Now I was told that anything over 2 yrs old wasn't excepted. I also had at least 7 wristlets, 1 other pair of shoes and 3 bags in which 2 were Coach leather which never runs out of style. Anyway, there is a neighborhood yard sale in my area in May. I'll just sell my things there along with a few other things. read more

My first visit to Clothes Mentor Springfield : Was told this store has great best place to get designer bags and clothes , BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! ! It looked more like a thrift store was a big mess. Not a lot of designer names and the little name brands look very used was told they only take items that look new. The staff did not seem like they wanted to be there and was very unfriendly. I drove about an hour to get there (none in my area). I go to thrift stores every where I go. Looking for that perfect buy and treasure. That being said, I found their prices kinda high. I've been to other CM's also and they were much more reasonably priced. They did not have a lot of the higher end items I thought they would. I saw gap and old navy even. Not enough Handbags for me. A lot of Coach tho. I'm sure I will give it another chance because I understand things come in everyday. Staff was friendly enough but the person ringing me up didn't even know about the "Text to get $50 or a percentage off purchase". I asked her and she said she didn't know anything about it but yeah give it a try! lol! It was posted right at the register too! I guess she is just working there for the pay check. A great place to find everything you need for a night out, to a day at the office, complete with jewelry, purse and shoes. Also, they carry workout clothes. Styles are up to date and priced very reasonably. I took my mother and sister there today, and they were very happy to be shopping through their expansive inventory. If I could do this with no stars I would. I clean my closets twice a year and have had good luck taking items to this location. THis time I went there yesterday with three bags and I sort through them to make sure they are in good condition and name brands. I dropped them off at 4:30 and had errands to run so did not shop. I was VERY rudely told that I needed to come back by 9:00. the woman checking me in also did not tell me that they would text when finished. I went and ran errands and returned at 6:00 and was told they had not gone through the baskets and if I wanted to shop in store it would be 1/2 hour if I left again it would be sometime before 9:00. (Very rude again). IT seemed if I did not want to shop I was a low priority. I did receive a text around 7:30 that my clothes were ready. I was offered 30.00 for 16 shirts and no listing or explanation as to how they arrived at the amount. Several were new with price tags still attached and when I reviewed the listing four of them were marked as Clothes Mentor brands and I know they were either J Jill or talbots. I understand how this works and know it can get busy. I WILL NOT ever take clothes again, because of lack of service or a detail on purchased items and after my rude treatment by your staff I WILL NOT ever shop there again. I dropped off a few things to be reviewed and they texted me about 30 minutes later. I went back later that day and there were different employees and they were just as nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. The store was well organized. Other than that the trip was totally negative. While they did have a few high priced items most were not in good condition. Clothes had holes, sweaters misshaped and just not "gently used" looking. After listening to number of rap songs they had playing and the last one full of vulgarity, I left. When I asked her how Long it would take she said that I was the ONLY buyer or whatever & it will take anywhere from 30-40 minutes. Okay that's fine, no big deal. I ran another errand. Got back to the store @ 3:50. I walk in the girl who had taken care of me is doing another customers basket, she had not finished mine yet. She said "I was doing yours, than I started someone else's" I said "oh, when will you be finished mine?" She said "30 minutes" that DID NOT sit well with me at all. Fast forward 25 minutes, I get the text message & they take $27 bucks of Clothes. Didn't apologize for the really long wait I had or anything. I took the money & left. NEVER going back. I have to say I'm shocked at the number of negative reviews here. I'm a frequent shopper at Clothes Mentor in Springfield and have had nothing but good experiences with them. The staff is friendly and helpful - they check with you frequently to take items off your hands and hold them behind the counter until you're ready to try everything on at once. The store itself is clean and very well organized. Clothes are organized by item type (skirts, pants, jackets, etc), then by size and then by color so it makes browsing through items quick and easy. They offer loyalty coupons and discounts and email about special sales and events. What more can someone ask for?
