It is disappointing to have to give a less than stellar review, because Cloudy Sky did some impressive work on the first job I hired them for. Unfortunately the second job went much worse. Cloudy Sky would not stand by their work, which left me scrambling at the last minute to hire another crew to finish the job. The first job was to cut down a 50' Aspen tree in a relatively confined space. Cloudy Sky's bid was very competitive compared to the other bids, so I went with them. Cloudy Sky did a great job felling a tall tree into a very limited space, and they also did not destroy the lawn, which the other companies warned me they likely would. I do wish they had warned me that Aspens respond to being cut down by sending out underground roots in every direction and sprouting up tens of little suckers in my and my neighbors' yards. There are ways of avoiding this problem, but I didn't know about any of this until it was too late. But I can forgive this oversight, as Aspens are not native to this area and many people don't know about this problem. Based on this good experience, I hired Cloudy Sky to grind the Aspen stump as well as another massive Cedar stump. This job went sideways from the start. A Cloudy Sky estimator failed to give me the information I needed to prepare the area around the stumps, so when the crew arrived they couldn't do the job, which was really disruptive as I was having to coordinate with my neighbor to cross their property. After I prepared the area, and we rescheduled to have the crew come back, they did grind the stumps. But when I shoveled the wood chips out of the area, I discovered that in some places it was not as deep as the 6-8" below grade promised on the contract. In a few places, the stump was basically still at grade (see attached photo). I don't fault the crew for this, as there were a *lot* of wood chips that obscured the ground and made it easy to miss spots like this. But I am very unhappy that even when I sent them this photo, they wouldn't come back to fix the job. Worse, for several weeks they led me to believe that they *were* open to fixing it, so when I finally realized they weren't going to come back (they never explicitly said this, they just sort of ghosted me), I had to scramble to hire somebody else at the last minute before my landscaping crew arrived later that week. Unfortunately, this experience led me to conclude that Cloudy Sky will not stand by their work. read more

Just watched this team blow sawdust and clippings all over my property and my neighbors. They only stopped when I started filming it. Once they stopped, they still had two five gallon buckets to fill that they intended on just blowing all over the property instead of picking up. They just left and the entire site is an absolute mess. Amateurs at best After I left the property, my ring camera filmed them back to blowing all of the sawdust towards my property intentionally. Great service! We had very random tasks that needed to be done in our front and backyard. We needed a tree skirted, a tree removed and a very large and beautiful cherry tree trimmed and pruned. Cloud Sky came out and gave us an estimate right away and explained what needed to be done. I'm not experienced in tree trimming so it was nice having someone explain how and why the the tree needed to be trimmed up a certain way. I felt confident they knew what they were doing. They came out the next week and knocked out all the tasks very quickly. The tree removal was super interesting. They had a very small area to work in and the fell the tree with super precision. It was a little frightening, but they did it perfect and didn't damage anything in the process. They also cleaned up after themselves which was super refreshing. Most tree services leave all the branches and and leaves that fall which is super annoying. My yard was clean when they left. During their work I realized I forgot to ask about some arborvitae's that were damaged during the snow storms this winter. They trimmed and fixed them real fast for no charge! We hired Cloudy Sky Tree Services to prune over a 100 trees and remove several trees in our HOA Community. Our trees needed attention! Cameron came out and gave us a good bid and Heath, the owner came on our property a few times to assess all the trees and make recommendation for our Community to be code compliant. This review is for the bidding process, i did not select them for the work, so please do not consider this review about their work, I am sure they are professionals and getting the work done. There is a reason why I did not give 1 start and I will explain below. Bill visited my house for a site survey for a tree removal job ( September 2016 ). He emailed me the quotation with a detailed price break down. It was over my budget and I asked him drop one item from the break down and explained my budget and asked if he is willing the take the work. His response to me was totally unprofessional including some ugly statements ( I am not posting them here ) I suggest him not to respond to his emails himself and hire someone to respond professionally ! The reason i gave 2 stars instead of 1 is : - His response for the bidding was quick - His offer was detailed enough - At the end of his - ugly email - to me, he suggested Windsail reduction for the tree and explained it will be cheaper ( at least some consultative approach, huh ) At the end, I gave the job to somebody else within my budget and they did a good job. read more

This review is not about their services. It is a review about the company's professionalism. I merely share my experience with you so you can beware and be well-informed before you decide to work with this company. At 8am I had a ring at the door. It was Cloudy Sky. I have never solicited from them before. As soon as I open the door, Bill said, "You're not Manoush." First of all, if he can't even find the right house, that makes me question a whole lot of things. However, I don't believe he actually had a "Manoush" to find because there is no one with that name on my street. And the next street over does not have the same house numbers as my street so there is no chance for a duplicate address. Also, the house on the next street with the closest number to mine is not Manoush. In fact, I don't believe there was a "Manoush" at all. I think it was all his method of cold-calling on houses with large trees. I say this because after his rude introduction, "You're not Manoush," he motioned to the large tree in my front yard and said, "Here. Let me give you my card. Because that tree is going to split and fall on the house. It is very dangerous." How coincidental. I don't appreciate that kind of scare tactic. Furthermore, we have had the tree looked at by several tree companies and PSE also evaluated the tree and they have all found the tree to be sound. When we have asked about the tree splitting, all the companies had the same answer: IF it split, which is unlikely, it would fall to the North (away from the house). Lastly, the business card he gave me has their own company name written incorrectly on it (Cloudy Sky Service Tree instead of Tree Service). So, even though I didn't solicit nor receive a formal bid from this company, I can already tell that their level of knowledge, attention to detail, and their dishonest method of marketing are enough to convince me that I don't want this company anywhere near my house. read more

They did an excellent job at being respectful and careful not to damage anything, careful for each other's safety and cleaned up. Heath and his crew were fabulous! We had 8 behemoth trees on a small lot that had to be removed and a beautiful old maple that they cleaned up for us and took ALL they wood for one price that was not even near the highest. They got the job done in just 2 days in an incredible heat wave. We also had a crazy neighbor that threatened to call the police that Heath handled and talked off the ledge and they even cleaned up her yard to keep her happy. When I came home at the end of the 2nd day and had some concerns about some of the clean up (it was a huge job) Heath came back personally the next business day and not only cleaned it up further, to my liking, he moved a couple of the rounds so I could keep them. Other companies we got estimates from wanted to remove our fence and not put it back, destroy other plantings and interfere with the neighbors, Cloudy Sky did none of this! Stay away from these guys unless you have a 100 ft fir or cedar tree dangling above your home. If you do decide to hire them, do not let them work unattended. They butchered my linden tree by removing the lowest branches and thus forever ruining the natural vase shape of the tree and raising the center of gravity while I was away. I requested that I be at home when they arrive, they ignored my request, didn't call to tell me they were coming. They were three hours late, I thought they wouldn't come anymore so I left to run an errand. they came in my absence and butchered the poor tree for no good reason. the instructions were to thin it, not to cut the lowest branches. I had asked during planning specifically for these branches not to be touched, they didn't care about that. They could have called me to tell me what they were doing, they didn't. At the end, seeing me upset, the crew boss had a good laugh at my expense, what a funny "misunderstanding"! counted his money twice, and left Horrible people! To the Owner: DO NOT dare write back some lame excuse. Your crew only knows how to cut trees. The do not know how to preserve their beauty, they do not care about them and it shows. Too bad I only checked HomeAdvisor, I would have never hired you if I saw the yelp reviews beforehand. read more

I asked Cloudy Sky Tree Service for an estimate to cut 3 dead birch trees and also to grind them down. The estimate person, Steve, was able to come out the next day and provide a very reasonable estimate. I ultimately hired them and can't believe how fast they cut those trees down, and the clean up was excellent! The trees were on an island so when the grinder was done, he spread the sawdust over the whole island, which I was told by co-workers was very good for the plants. They had heavy equipment and didn't damage any of the other plants. You can't even tell there were ever any trees there!! This was one of the most satisfying experiences I have had, and I would not hesitate to use them again. I have already given their name to two co-workers! Thank you, Cloudy Sky! read more
