Yesterday I went in and started talking with the young man who owns the shop (I think). It's not easy being a Jewish person right now. Two days ago I got snarled at in Safeway when a woman spotted my Jewish star necklace. Not Safeway's fault. So, last night I asked this young man if he celebrated Ramadan to wish him a happy one. That turned into a 20-30 minute conversation full of knowledge, respect, decency, humanity and kindness. I'm really blown away! It gave me so much faith restored in humanity to have such a humane and respectful back and forth with another very decent person. Especially after the experience in Safeway.
