This place was recommended to us by my wife's friend...glad she did too! I love Indian food but had got fed up with what we were getting from our regular restaurants so had stopped eating Indian. I do an 8 mile round trip to go to Clove because I love the food. Simply the best for taste and value for money! The service is always excellent and waiting times are shorter than anywhere else I know. The atmosphere is brilliant and nothing is ever too much for staff. Me and the wife went here last night to sample the 4 coarse for £6.95 offer. We used to go quite regular as it's so close to home but had stopped about a year ago when it started taking a turn for the worse. I'm happy to say they are back on form. She opted for the £6.95 set menu and I had the £7.95. We both chose prawns for starters which is the only reason they're having a 4 star not 5. The prawns although tasty were the tiny pound a bag from the freezer shop variety and the Wifes were so tastless she was slapping the red poppadom sauce over them to perk them up a bit. The rest of the food was bangin, I had a chicken tika balti made hot as a Madras. Yum. She had lamb sagwala which was very nice. We both had pilau rice, shared a Nan (extra £2.25 for the peshwari) and I got ice cream and she had fruit and cream for desert. The ice cream was creamy and had a drizzle of syrup over it and the fruit was the kind you get out of a tin with some pouring cream so nothing fancy but by then we were stuffed. We had a splendid meal here at a very reasonable price. It's clean, efficient and the quality of the food is high. Bring your own bottle of wine if required. The only downside is that although it is easy to find, being on the main Wolverhampton to Walsall road, you need to park on the side streets. I would think that this area is one to avoid late on. The very good Willenhall swimming baths has just been closed but at least the Clove offers something worth visiting for. read more

My first visit last Saturday and I decided to go on the back of the favourable reviews posted. I don't want to appear picky but I do like to get it real. The decor is a contemporary or as I would call it "cold", clean but not particularly well finished. On my particular evening it was loud, I wouldn't want to eat in a library atmosphere but do people have to shout to someone who is on the same table. The customers are not the restaurant's fault but I would suggest a few soft furnishings would help absorb the sound. Service was very good, friendly staff with just the right amount of attentiveness. The time between courses was also good if not a fraction quick. My Karahi kebab was nicely spiced but the meat was a little chewy, I would have preferred it in a Karahi but no worries. No problems with the onion bhajii and both starters were nicely presented. The Chicken Naga Delight and CT Sagwalla were both tasty but I was expecting just a little bit more from the Naga. I can't say I was over keen on the garlic & coriander naan. They toast the finely diced garlic on top of the naan which gets rather "crispy", falls off and goes everywhere. I'll have a different one next time. The rice was fine and I liked the chunky homestyle chips. A small choice of deserts from the now almost obligatory bought in menu, I loathe them but the wife and kids insist. They had a Fantastica, which was "decorated" with hundred & thousands pus strawberry sauce, fine for infants perhaps? Surely there must be something better they can put in the freezer, I don't care if it does come from ASDA and I bet there would be more money to be made. What is wrong with barfi, gulab jaman or ras malai? I guess it is because there is little shelf life or demand - just me then. Finally the bill (from the man behind possibly the smallest counter in the world) it is very good value for money. A generous 4 Stars from me mainly because of the VFM. We had a good evening but I honestly couldn't rate it higher as that would (in my humble opinion) put it the same local league as the Bilash, Red Fort, or B'ham's Itihass, Lasan, Pushbar etc. read more

Nice decor, friendly staff. You get the odd blagger in there claiming they 'didnt pay that much before' but it makes for conversation. Succulent, light deliciously fragrant cuisine! read more
