They hadn't first given my mom a shower in over 2 1/2 months. Forgot to feed her at lunch several times. Someone needs to help her in and out of the bed to her wheel and she calls for a nurse and no one responds to her calls she could be waiting several hours to get in bed. They don't help her to the bathroom they lay her in bed and expect her to do her business but then no one comes in to take her off for several hours either. This is NOT a place to take anyone you love trust me on that.

She arrived at Wellbrook by wheelchair accompanied by my husband and I. Upon arriving in room nurse came in. Weight, BP and TB test was done. Family questioned the COVID protocol since nurse was not wearing a mask. The nurse was surprised and left. Half hour- 45 mins went by while she was still in the wheelchair. I went to nursing stations to see what the plan was. We were told that Physical therapy and Occupational therapy would evaluation her in the morning. The nurse was questioned again about the plan for the present day and nursed repeated same answer. There was no orientation to the facility. There was no review of her current or past health. No one asked what her mobility was, her fall risk, her mental status. Her lungs, heart were not listened to. No skin check or check for edema in her legs. Loretta has been evaluation for several years due to incontinence and it has not been able to be controlled. There were several attempts to reach out to the nurse to give the nurse background on Loretta but were met with the same answer. We were told to wait until she was evaluated by PT-OT. Her family helped her out of her wheelchair and into bed. Family helped with her meal. Shortly after her meal she said she needed to go the the bathroom for a Bowel movement. Light was put on but no one came so family helped her. Day 2 there was a question on COVID isolation- We were told in the ER that she tested positive for COVID, so we were counting isolation from that date. After some confusion the Director of Nursing was consulted at he added 5 days to what we thought it should be. When I questioned him he berated me in front of the entire staff. The next day we were able to connect with the Regional Director of Nursing and she came back with a date that was even less then we had hoped. I only met one aid that had a smile and was friendly and she said it was only her 2nd week. Most of the staff breezed in and out of her room without a word and very unfriendly. We couldn't wait to move her out of there. I would HIGHLY recommend you look else where.

I asked her several times "What date will my moms insurance coverage stop" I made sure my mom was discharged by that date but come to find out the date was several days before what I was told. I wouldn't trust this facility.

The new owner Brian is very hands on and is quick to answer calls and take care of issues. He knows all the residences very well and will sit and chat with my mom. He is very hands on in this facility. The director of nursing has been absolutely wonderful and honest and has give my mom extra attention and care when needed. The care staff is beyond kind and attentive. We had a few bumps in The road early on, but they have made up for it 10fold. They treat my mom like family and love her like their own grandmother. I'm at the facility daily checking in on my mom and so I know exactly what's happening at all times with her care. I know if my mom ever needs long term care, we have no doubt we would come here. My mom's biggest fear was having to come to a "nursing home" and now she's almost sad to have to leave. My heart is literally full with the love, care and attention my mom has received!!

However, as a person with a disability whose last family member only recently passed away I'm aware that at some point I may need another level of care and support. Marquette, a Life Plan retirement community, is one of Central Indiana's better options. I've experienced Marquette in a multitude of ways - from visits to chaplaincy to friends who have lived (and continue to live) here to my own experiences. Marquette is located on Indy's northwest side. It's on a 47-acre wooded campus that offers independent living, assisted living, a health campus, short-term rehab, and memory care. They're getting ready to create a new area called "The Commons" to create a pickleball area (I really need to try that sometime), a lounge, a grilling area and more. As you enter Marquette (which used to be known as both Marquette Manor and Marquette Senior Living), you pass through a monitored gate entrance. I believe it's 24/7 and I've never been here when someone wasn't present. It helps to know the names of the different areas as signage is really geared more toward community than commercial. The different areas are clearly defined. This is a wooded setting with trails, a small lake, and an abundance of parking (though I'll say one deficit is that finding accessible parking if you're not a resident is difficult at times). Services include transportation (shopping, medical, events/outings), valet parking, bi-weekly housekeeping and weekly flat linen, healthcare at the on-campus Lynne O'Day Clinic, maintenance, lawn care, snow removal, emergency call systems, pendants w/GPS tracking, expanded basic cable/internet, all utilities (except phone), and free wifi throughout campus. Assistance in living is extra. Amenities include a variety of dining options in pretty amazing settings. This is a "facility," yet so often I'm amazed at what they've done to make it not feel like one. There's a more formal dining room, casual grill, outdoor dining area, and even a "Township Tavern." Marquette has an athletic center run by the National Institute of Fitness and Sports. There are wellness programs run by two full-time, on-site personal trainers. There's a performing arts center, on-campus BMO Harris banking, a massage studio, guest suites for visitors (and private dining room areas), a woodworking shop, a business center, a chapel (that accommodates different faiths), walking/biking trails, a gift shop, and Marquette is pet friendly (small pets). Marquette, of course, has all the usual stuff - library, billiards, patio space, gardens. I've never had a bad experience here. Employees are well dressed, friendly, helpful, and discreet with personal assistance. They are protective of residents, however, it feels like almost "Disney" in a way. It's like friendly yet very definite. I've gotten the feeling more than once that these employees would kick your a** if you tried to hurt one of their residents. The front desk people are helpful and knowledgeable. The website features a wealth of knowledge about community including strong knowledge about costs (Yes, it's expensive. Every retirement community is but I love that they're open about this kind of information). There are very few retirement settings where I think "I could live here," but Marquette is definitely one where I think "I could live here." I dread the day when I may actually need more help, but if I reach that point I sure hope I can find a place like Marquette to live.

They didn't reach out to the patients daughter when she passed.. she had to hear from a third party. And when the patient had had a bad fall prior to passing the person incharge named Jason insisted on not calling the fire department and handeling it himself which was a mistake and she couldn't get up for over 30 min and ended up getting help anyway from the firefighters. The food sucks, the patient called it a hell hole it was so bad. The laundry always went missing, the nurses take up to an hour to come when you hit the help button even for emergency!!! they are insistence we get their belongings out of her room so they can make more profit for a new patient to come in. She hated every second in this place and I'll do my best to make sure people don't go here. If you care at all for your loved ones don't take them here!!! And rest in peace to my friend always, you didn't deserve this horrid place, the food, the treatment, the rudeness. They were truly horrible To her in her final days. And now that she has passed they are still being horrible and rushing us packing up her stuff. Called that we have 2 days to do so... she just passed. :( My only positive note is that Winnie was truly special to this patient. She was caring, has patience, was kind and always a glimmer of hope for her. The true bright light and glue of this facility.
