Worth noting: you are on long train with 3-4 different experiences and it seems you get different things depending on what you paid for. The my may have a tea, beer train, wine train, etc. We were in the back of the train and got the slowest service and stuck in a car with no AC. Ended up on the open air car and it was nicer. you might be better off paying for the base price; buy a drink or two and call it a day. Don't expect gourmet food here; bring a picnic and eat outside before/after your trip.

Boba Tea train: There were a number of issues with this…read moreexcursion. First off, most of the tea samples came with little to no ice and were somewhat warm. This made some of the undrinkable. Others were somewhat warm cloyingly sweet as to be unpleasant. Overall, though both of us are fans of boba tea- we would suggest a different vendor or more training for the staff preparing the samples. Roughly half of the flavors were not good at all. Additionally, they listed "boozy" flavors on the menu but never said anything about how to get those or whether they were included. Second problem- we preordered dumplings as did apparently a LOT of people. There were no dumplings on the train, only rice bowls. Furthermore- the waitress didn't know what we were talking about when we mentioned having preordered food. At least half of the tables in our car had preordered dumplings and were very disappointed. There was no information on how to obtain a refund if we didn't want the substitute of a rice bowl. About halfway through our trip, the train lost power which included lights, air conditioning, and the ability to flush toilets. Power stayed off with no explanation for more than 15 minutes, causing the car to become very warm and stuffy. Overall, this excursion suffered from lack of communication, lack of staff training, lack of preparation on the part of the organizers. Given the cost, I would not recommend this.

Dave, our tour guide couldn't have been better, filling our day with fun facts and history that we would never have gotten anywhere else. We booked a tour with Crossroads through Viator and it was a great choice. Our guide Mike was perfect. Low key, patience of a saint( people drive like yahoos even in Yosemite) knowledgeable with lots of history and current news of the park. Mike made sure to show us where the trailheads were for hikes we were thinking of taking at a later date. Our family of 6 took up most of the van and we were lucky to have another couple who were wonderful,to share the experience with us. You will get an early start with this tour but it is well worth it. We saw EVERYTHING! Thank goodness for Mike, he really was the perfect guide for us. I bobbled the booking and they were still happy to accommodate us. Do them a favor and contact them 72 hours in advance of your tour date-even if it is the weekendWe got a nice bagged lunch from Bee's Bakery and Cafe and good quality T-Shirts with the tour. We were tired but very happy that we booked a tour with Crossroads and Mike was our guide by the time we were dropped off at our car in the late afternoon. Traveling all day in a van with people who match your energy is priceless. Thanks for a really great experience Mike!!

It certainly is beginning to look a lot like christmas and its not even Thanksgiving yet, especially at the old town clovis with its exclusive once a year event known as "One Enchanted Evening" thats completely FREE of charge , this year it was on Nov 19th from 5pm to 8pm. This event feels like walking through the main street of Disneyland without leaking $150 of course Its almost like a best kept secret, since many people in the city of Fresno and Clovis seems unaware that it is an annual tradition that has been running for 12 years, even I was almost unaware of it, but thankfully my friend Dave reminded me. The old town Clovis transforms into a christmas galore with glitzy light luminously lighting its historic streets, christmas song's like mariah carey's 'all I want for christmas playing in the background, smell of hot chocolates in the air, lit horse drawn carriages making its headway down the street, and colorful and shiny christmas decor prominent everywhere, it certainly feels christmasy, warm and fuzzy. There is of course opportunity to visit the adorable antique stores and get the christmas shopping started. And not to forget is the classic collection of old cars from the early 1800 century to the late 1920's all parked on the street and ready for an Instagram moment. One Enchanted Evening is held exclusively by the participating businesses in Old Town Clovis who open their doors for hospitality and good cheer by offering complimentary drinks and mini snacks while we shopped through their amazing antiquities, engulf in their beautifully decorated display window, and walk through the beautifully lit streets of old town clovis lined with lights and christmas decorations . Its also the opportune time to enjoy a complimentary horse-drawn carriage ride through the beautifully decorated streets of Old Town Clovis and a time for me to drag my younger siblings here too, since I heard Santa would be here collecting data on who's naughty and nice. There was even carolers all dressed up in victorian styles clothing singing some christmas tunes. Parking was not much an issue for me, because there were plenty of Free street parking available. I would however advise future patrons to come as early as 5.30 am to enjoy the caroling, which I missed. The time spent here can be varied, but it took me about 30-45 minutes to slowly stroll, visit shops and sip some free hot chocolate and not to forget to bring the best cameras at home, because the sights and window set up is so beautiful and must be captured in photos before its all gone. Its an experience everyone should experience at least once a year !
