There's the dance machines, the motorbike arcade games, the slot machines, the frustrating 1p and 2p machine where the coins some how defy gravity and never fall off, air hockey machines and loads of other little games that keeps you entertained for hours, let alone any kids! The amusement hall is on the beach front and when it's warm an ice cream van parks up by it, offering lots of tempting treats. If you want to go for the full on traditional seaside experience, then about 5 minutes along the promenade, there's a whole series of fish and chips shops.

For me this is a fun, wet weather wee day out with my husband for a laugh. Yes the carpets are a little worn around the edges and yes it is a bit old fashioned, but plenty fun and you can get an ice cream too. Many of the machines give tickets rather than monetary prises and you then swap the tickets at their shop. Everything from toys to sweets.

The staff are friendly, helpful and place is always very clean. The play areas are spllit up and my toddler loves going from ball pool section to the toddler part with slide. The cafe here serves fresh food and has a exactly what good parents want- fresh food for children. My daughter loves the platter where you choose 5 different things like grapes/raisins/ sandwiches/ cheese chunks etc and they put it on a round plate for the children . Its a novel idea which is great as children pick at food when playing so its perfect. ;) The people in this place have thought in depth about what parents want when they take children out. Also they do a play card when you go 9 times and the tenth play is free. Very friendly and pleased we eventually tried this place.

First (and it will be our last) visit to the Play Planet this week. It was awful. The empty tables…read morein the cafe were dirty and sticky; there were lots of tables which hadn't been cleaned and were piled high with dirty plates for most of the time that we were in there. The play equipment was filthy and in some areas was burst with the foam coming through. Staff weren't very vigilant in regards to asking kids to take shoes off or keep socks on, which is obvious for hygiene reasons. The toilets were an adventure in themselves. There was toilet tissue everywhere all over the floor, on the surfaces near the sink etc. The baby change mat was filthy, and I didn't use it, leaving instead to go to the car to change. There was no hot water to wash hands with either, despite running the tap for a wee while. Don't know what the quality of the food was, as given the poor state of the other features, I wasn't really willing to risk it. Staff members seemed more interested in standing about chatting and turning a blind eye to the state of the toilets and the dirty tables. I think it's rather obvious that they receive complaints on a regular basis given the fact that the managers contact information is posted on nearly every available surface. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't expect a soft play centre to be somewhere that you could eat your dinner off of the floor, but I do expect that basic hygiene standards are met. We certainly won't be back, and will visit another soft play centre in future.

A membership for Enjoy Leisure East Lothian is only £28/mnth which is amazing value with NO time restrictions and u are able to use all facilities, gym, swimming pool and fitness classes (however the gym can get uber busy in the evening so careful planning will help) not to mention u can visit any sports centre in the east Lothian area at no extra cost... When stepping into Murrayfield Ice Rink you almost feel like you are stepping back in time because…read morethe place is so dated. It could really do with an upgrade. We went on a busy Saturday afternoon, and it was just over £5 for skating plus skate hire, so pretty reasonable for an afternoon out. The skates were so old and cheap, i reckon people were wearing these back in the 70's. The rink is quite big, although on a Saturday it does get very busy so it does feel a little cramped sometimes. Especially as you cling to the side and there is a hundred other people doing the same thing. The play some tunes while you skate so you can bop away, although who am I kidding skating is hard enough on its own- adding dance moves is too much. What I didn't like about this rink was the despite the fact there was signs everywhere saying "No Ice Hockey Skates" during the general skating, there was a large amount of teenagers clearly in their ice hockey skates. This wouldn't be a problem if they didn't chase each other around, unbelievably quickly I might add, or chip ice at each other. I saw them knock over a couple of people and there was a few times I almost fell over thanks to them speeding past me. It just felt like there should have been some stewards to stop it, but then they joined in with them as I guess they are all hockey buds. This ice rink really deserves 3 stars due to it being so outdated and the fact you can enjoy your skating without getting run over by a teenage boy, but the fact its the only skating rink for miles around earns it an extra star.

Murrayfield Ice Rink to me is chilly memories of unsure gliding circuits round the…read morerink, when I went to a weekend skating club called Normandy, which was basically for the purpose of checking out boys and posing in my latest Tammy Girl number, rather than actually improving at skating or showing off any athletic ability. Although I do remember skating round the rink to Robert Miles and watching some other awesomely skilled ice skaters do their thing, and thinking I'd be keen to learn to ice skate properly, because it just looks so graceful and amazing if you can do it properly. Anyway, I suppose the concept of an Ice Rink is fairly self explanatory, so if you fancy a day of icy, slippy, fitness, then Murrayfield is the place to go. If you're into ice hockey, you can also watch quite a few games here. I also once attended a disco skating night here, where again, I skated about posing and checking out boys, but at night time rather than during the day. I have absolutely no idea if they still run such a night, because I'm about 15 years too old to have a clue now, but I remember at the time thinking it was brilliant.

A museum all about money. And it is free. Why not?!…read more We had some extra time while out in town and didn't think it was worth returning to our hotel, so we paid Museum on the Mound a visit. It has eight rooms to explore with plenty of panels to provide details on what you are looking at and its relation to currency. Highlights for me, the block showing what a million pounds looks like and the interactive safe. Bonus, if you crack the safe they give you a prize! Fun for all ages (or maybe just kids and the kid inside me). Not a top priority, but worth trying to fit in imo!

It was strange being in a museum and there was money everywhere, £1 million to be exact, that was quite surreal, but I would highly recommend going to see it for yourself, the staff were lovely and helpful too. I usually avoid the gift shops assuming everything would be extortionate and tatty but I was pleasantly surprised, of course some things were pricey but you could get something cool and interesting without breaking the bank lol.

I come here once a month with the running club. Facilities are basic (could do with being spruced…read moreup) but it's a warm place to meet and get changed etc. They're open to members on a Friday night for a few hours. The bar is run on a volunteer basis which is quite quaint. In summer this place is busy. Great place to join if you want to make the most of the fresh sea air! Also a good place to get the kids involved in sailing (provided they can swim of course ;) )

It is a welcoming and friendly community sailing club with a good-size function room, well-kitted kitchen, a training room and a cosy bar for members/ guests (open 9-11pm Fridays and at events). They were short-listed in 2017 as an RYA Scotland Club of The Year and published a book with the club's history in early 2018 to commemorate its Diamond Jubilee (60 years). FYC welcomes Sea Scouts, Runners, the Yarnbombers (demon knitters!) and the Eskmuthe Rowing Club. The club fronts on new Street plus has a boatyard opening direct onto the promenade with access across to the beach for dinghies going out racing, on funsails or for sailing instruction. Some members have yachts in the harbour, just to the west.

There are marquees set up where you can buy a drink, some must have gear, ( you must dress to suit the occasion) and the main tent houses the music and dance, with DJ Frankie Sumatra giving it his best to entertain a very wide spectrum of ages. The whole scene would not be complete however without the Burlesque dancers, with Scotand's top Burlesque Queen - Missy Malone the big favourite. Normally the show would be held in Club Noir or the Voodoo Rooms, but no matter where, it is a sell out - so be fast or you'll be last!.
