Luckily for us the entrance is well tucked away at the top of the shopping centre, and we only knew it was there after asking the security guard if there was anything else upstairs - sometimes being nosey pays off! This meant it was fairly full but not absolutely bursting like all the bars on the lower floors. There seemed to be people getting turned away near the door as there were no tables free but mum and I just walked straight past to the bar counter at the back - so sometimes not asking permission for stuff pays off too! The menu is sight to behold (it comes in a box) but we kept it simple, getting giant wine glasses of prosecco as they'd run out of flutes. We perched at the statement golden bar for a while then headed outside to the balcony area. There's lots of white sofas and tables to reserve around. Sipping on bubbles in the evening sunshine and enjoying the view over the Pendigo Lake, we felt like we were in a bar somewhere much more exotic than Brum! The prices match the classy setting so it's not somewhere you'd stay for long unless you have money to burn, but mum felt very treated and the posh loos definitely beat queuing at the arena ;)

A bit more upscale than a pub but not quite as fancy as a cocktail bar, with a nice mix of people and good music. The place seems to fill up a bit on weekends, unsurprisingly, but there is a large beer garden in the back if you don't mind the smokers. It was a very nicely kept country-style pub. The Dog Inn is out in the sticks but a simple bus or drive out from Birmingham. We went on a Saturday for lunch and there was a fairly steady stream of local customers popping in, either to the posh dining side or the main bar. The surroundings were very comfortable and kept in immaculate condition. These folks take their cleaning seriously. Everything was spotless and well ordered. Service was good and food great value. While it's not exactly super exciting, for pub grub it was more than acceptable. I think my 8oz steak, with chips, peas and onion rings worked out at around £9. The beer was also well kept. Coffee was dire tho and I wouldn't recommend it if you're anything like a coffee geek! Too hot and too bitter for me. My steak was also definitely on the medium to well-done side rather than the medium rare I ordered, so a bit of a downer there. I had Crumble and gloopy custard which together was a little sweet but hit the spot nicely. As an easy going lunch stop over offering decent drinks and food at nice prices I would recommend. We stayed an hour and a half and felt quite comfy just scoffin' and chattin'. Looking out the rear window into the garden we were both relieved to see no undue rustling in the bushes!

While I wouldn't call it a "budget" menu, it was good value but the drinks are on the higher priced scale. Children are welcome but they do not have a dedicated children's menu although there are light snacks on the menu such as hotdog and chips which are all under £5. It's very friendly and they have awards for cleanliness. You would have to travel by car to get there and I would also recommend using SatNav because it is easy to get lost around there! (Or maybe that was just me!)

They serve the full range of Everards beers including an unusually named beer that was made with New Zealand hops. They are not averse to beer festivals either. The only downside is that the big beer garden can encourage families, which can make it a less relaxing place for a drink. But you could always go inside and sit at the coffin table if that happens.
