A group of us stopped in to punch one of our Pub Passes. It was a fairly quite evening. Service and music were good.

Taco Tuesday. Taco Tuesday Election day. :) My brother in law invited us out here. They have a great taco deal 2 FLOUR fried tacos for $10 and a drink. These are FRIED Flour taco. They are like another local favorite but .. they are SO good! It was even better evening when you got a free drink tonight for wearing your "I voted" sticker. What a great deal! It's a small parking lot, small establishment. It appears the normal bar but really this is a hidden gem if you like a good time. My brother in law is going to participate in the eating contest they are putting on. Staff is really nice. She went above and beyond. I even gave my complements to the chef as we left, cause you get to pass by the kitchen as you head out. I'd go here again in a heartbeat. So filling and great evening. -Also the bathroom is funny, but you should go check that yourself. read more

I've been going to C2K for a while, and I have never had a problem with a bartender . I'm not made of money, I have tipped before and there are a couple of times where I haven't tip because their are time where I need to keep some of my money and I just want to spend a few bucks to go out and enjoy myself for a bit, but I took my wife for a little small date at C2K and I just want to enjoy myself for a bit, but when we got done and when we were about to leave, I realized that I have forgotten my key and I went back to get them and the bartender yelled at me and was being rude that didn't tip her and no doubt she was really nice and very friendly, but then she berated me and calling me rude for not tipping in front of everyone. I'm sorry, I'm a working man and I would like to keep some of my money for a rainy day, and I came here to spend time with my wife because I barely see her because I work horrendous hours at the airport and it was a good time for me to finally have a little small date with my wife who is a good mom and is mostly at home with my kids most of the day so I'm sorry that I didn't tip you, or else I would have. I don't want them to think that I'm coming off as rude for not tipping, but at least pull me to the side and communicate with me on how you feel about it then I can be able to fix it, but the way she betrated me in front of everyone in the bar, was humiliating and I don't think that I can ever come back to this place. I wish that they put up a sign about tipping and stuff so that next time when I come, I can be ready to give them a tip. I'm a working man as a ramp agent at the airport. I know what it is like to work very hard and stuff. Communicating is key, and berating someone in front of everyone in the bar is not the way it goes. Still it is a good place to go. read more

We have been there numerous times for Wednesday steak night and a couple taco Tuesdays, every meal has fantastic!!!!! The staff are very welcoming and accommodating! We have only had one issue with our food and it was corrected immediately! Absolutely will be going again! read more

*** The Next Day *** I'm not going to blather on quite as much as Tuesday, but I found myself back at Jack & Vinnie's today for lunch on Wednesday. They were parked at the Regency buildings in West Des Moines (on the South side of the Regency buildings between Regency 5 and 6, South of Westown between 42nd and 50th) between 1100 AM and 130 PM. You can locate the truck by Liking and checking their Facebook page. They appear to update it daily with both their location and menu. No fried tacos so I opted for the sausage sandwich. This is how it's described on their Facebook page: 1/2 pound Graziano's sausage patty topped wit melted provolone cheese and marinara sauce served on focaccia bread. The sandwich was $7.75 and the fries were supposed to be $1.50. Adding the peppers (a mix of sweet and hot) was an additional $.50 Same greeting today. Polite staff. The young woman taking the orders today was different than yesterday, but just as personable. The gentleman in the kitchen was the same as yesterday. We visited a little about the tacos. He'd had a long day of making them in the truck and then going to make them all night in the bar. We talked about the hot sauce...he said it's not normally as salty...it was probably just that batch. He talked about Graziano's and how they buy directly from them. One thing I've often found with food trucks is I find they lack in bang for the buck. I'm not saying it's not good food or that it's not worth the money. I understand how operating expenses work. I'm just a big eater and small expensive plates don't have a place in my life. ;) Actually they do...but it's at a Happy Hour, or with a glass of wine between meals, just not for the main meal. Part of why I'm afraid to go to Reed's or The Republic. I figure my table will look like I just finished dim sum and my bill will be in the $200+ range. Though I'm sure the food is worth every penny from what I've heard. Bang for the buck isn't an issue with Jack & Vinnie's. I thought yesterday might have been a fluke. Maybe I picked the one item on the menu that was actually full sized... Today my cohort went to a different truck. There were three there. I was riding with him and he drives a little sporty car. Because of a lack of space I held our food on the way back to the office. He handed me his food as we got into the car and I started to laugh. He looked at me puzzled. I told him to wait until we got back to the office. In the parking lot I handed him my to-go container first. He grabbed it and went... "Sheesh. That's like four of mine..." That was exactly what I was thinking too. We both spent about the same amount of money. Mine felt like a pound and a half of food. His felt like a few ounces. The sandwich was fantastic...if you like sausage sandwiches. I will say if you don't like some heat this probably isn't a sandwich you would enjoy. The marinara, surprisingly to me, does temper the heat a little and it's a great taste combination. The cheese and bread were fresh and the peppers added a little extra flair. In all honestly I'd probably skip the peppers next time. They didn't add as much taste as the marinara did. I might go one or the other...but not both. The pièce de résistance for me was when I popped the top of the to-go box at Regency and saw crinkle cut fries. Yay! I don't know why, but I LOVE crinkle cut fries piping hot right out of the fryer...and I don't care if they are fresh or come frozen out of a bag. A few of them didn't make it into the pictures. Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning around 12:30. I guess it was really brunch! Anyway, there weren't very many people there and the server was very friendly and welcomed us right away. She was also the bartender and the bus person. She asked what we wanted to drink and since I asked for coffee she told me to go to the coffee machine because it was self service. It was your typical coffee pot coffee. Nothing fancy, and that was okay. I was not expecting fancy coffees at a sports bar. The breakfast menu was pretty limited and there were no pancakes on it which I was kind of in the mood for. However, they had a few creative items like the biscuits and gravy where they use Focaccia garlic toast in place of biscuits. I chose that dish while my dining partner got the Breakfast Platter that included two eggs, sausage or bacon, hash browns and toast. His plate was exactly as expected with the items cooked as he asked. The bacon was thick and crispy, the eggs perfectly runny. He swapped the hash browns for an extra egg so I can't speak to what that item might have been like. Upon my first bite of the biscuits and gravy I didn't really like their twist on it with the garlic bread and the Italian sausage mixed in with the breakfast sausage was also very different. But, I was hungry and kept eating and after a few bites I actually started to like it. I don't know if I would ever want to eat it again, but I ended up eating almost the entire serving. The only thing that I would change is that it had a lot more black pepper than I like, so that flavor was stronger than I would have preferred. Overall, it was a decent experience for bar breakfast and while it won't be a first choice, I certainly would not be opposed to returning. read more

TACO TUESDAY! I love the taco's they have on special here on Tuesdays! Amazing! I have been here a couple dozen times, but only on Tuesdays, so I cant comment on the other nights or foods. Do not let the name fool you, this isn't really a club at all. More of a neighborhood bar and grill, complete with jukebox. Kids are often around before 9pm, but after that this place turns into a little watering hole. read more
