You're gonna have to bear with me, as I don't often write reviews, and this is my first one for a club. I read the previous two reviews, and I disagree with most of what they say, and will address the issues they presented.
Club Absolution is a series of events put on by On The Y, a bar at 670 Fulton Ave in Sacramento. Club Absolution occurs every Sunday, except on some holidays. It primarily caters to the goth and industrial crowd, and is extremely welcoming to newcomers and people that just happen to walk in.
I've been to Absolution 4 times, each time for a theme night. I am still new to the scene, but everyone I've met has been extremely welcoming. The staff are all polite and helpful, and joy being social when they aren't as busy. They also keep a watchful eye on both the bar area, dance floor, and the porch. I have always felt safe while attending their events, due to both the staff and the patrons.
As far as drink pricing, everything I've had has been very reasonable, especially when compared to other nightclubs. The bartenders are knowledgeable and happy to help you choose if you ask them for recommendations, and may even personalize a drink for you.
All of the attendees are respectful and fun to be around. Any issues that arise are quickly and efficiently addressed by the staff, and those on the floor are great about pointing out possible hazards before issues arise (such as spilled drinks, dropped items, and things of that nature).
I believe one of the other reviews mentioned that there were a bunch of old bikers at one point and no one else. The event is a goth/industrial theme, so leather culture does have a place in the community. However, I believe that is where the truth of that review ends. In the times I've attended, I've never seen more than two obvious bikers on site at one point, and they were at the very least extremely respectful, and more so they were fun to be around.
Another point mentioned that the reviewers, aged 22, noticed a huge age gap between themselves and other patrons. I am currently 25, and have been attending for 2 years. I regularly see people of all ages, with an average (based on appearances) of somewhere around 28-30. For a place with a minimum age of 21, I'd say that is a great average, and caters to all ages relatively well.
The music choice compliments that point, and is a wonderful variety of both new and classic industrial and goth music. (Take that with a grain of salt. I'm not great at knowing genres. Just trust me, it's good music.)
I'm not sure what more I can say about it. If anything, try it out, and figure out if it's for you. Stay the course, and maybe talk to people and dance, rather than just judging appearances.
TL;DR: Great club, other reviews are wack. read more
