Dubbed the best piano and martini bar in Columbus, the club is home to a very diverse crowd. GLBT or friendly straights, everyone can feel a warm welcome here. A mostly laid back, easy going hang. A great place for quiet conversation over a cocktail or two. Speaking of which they mix a strong one, so it's no place for a nervous person. lol. Still, line up a DD, learn to nurse a drink or stay home. I tried my first chocolate martini which could be my last. It is very popular so they obviously make them well. Normally a popular spot for musicians from around the country, Wednesday night is karaoke night and us amateurs get our crack at fame. They advertise 2nd Monday is "Munchies" night from 6-8pm. We visited the bar last night during Karoke. Had a great time. BUT one of your regular bartenders "CRAIG" is a real ASS HOLE when hes a little drunk. Hes a poor representative of your bar. He was off during that night I was told. The other bartenders are OK. But he's a real ass hole. read more

Love Club D! I don't come here nearly as often as I'd like because I stress about parking. There's a scant handful of spots behind the bar and some at a nearby bank. If those are full, good luck. The chocolate martini is the best in Columbus and packs a punch! You definitely get your money's worth with that drink. During the milder months, the outside area in the back is especially lovely, with gazebos and festive lighting. Also worth mentioning is that there is a small theatre upstairs and karaoke in the main bar on occasion. When it gets crowded, bar service can be incredibly slow, so be prepared for a long wait at the bar. read more

This reviewer has been going to Club Diversity since he arrived in Columbus 17 years ago. Everyone is always welcome there, and that fact is reflected in this business's name. This reviewer has never witnessed, or heard about, any criminal activity there or nearby, so it is a safe place to go, unlike some of the LGBT-friendly dive bars in the far south end of Columbus. In fact, Club Diversity is a far cry from a dive bar with a grand piano in the main bar area. Also, this business operates within an Italianate (Victorian) house that was originally the home of one of the brew meisters (masters) in the nearby Brewery District, so it offers a cool, historical vibe. In addition to the main bar area, which comprises approximately one-half of the first floor, there is additional seating in a "front parlor" room on the other side of the grand central hallway. However, many patrons choose to sit in one of several gazebos in the backyard, or on the front porch and watch the traffic go by on High Street, during warmer weather. All of the interesting seating options helps make Club Diversity one of the best LGBT-friendly bars in the Columbus south end! Club Diversity is the best LGBT-friendly place to go for karaoke Sunday and/or Wednesday evenings. Jason is the KJ and he always makes sure everyone is having a good time, and that the rotations run smoothly. However, if you venture to Club Diversity for karaoke, be aware that "lyric changes" are a favorite at this location. So, if you would be offended by your favorite song being turned into a raunchy, sexually-explicit rant, you might consider going elsewhere. Incredibly rude staff. It's feels like a "friends only" bar- if you know the staff, you're treated like a friend, and if you don't know them, you're treated like garbage. They have flat out refused to make food that's on their menu, they're slow, and unwelcoming. I have been several times over the years and I reached my limit. read more

Nice laid back place where the staff doesn't bother too much. If they don't know you, ummmm expect a little hesitancy and stares tho. I don't believe it was because I was black but because they don't know who I was. The drinks are nice and the pretzels are disgusting. Cheese is cold but I was warned it's all microwaved food so don't expect a miracle. I love the back area where you can sit out at and the scenery is beautiful. read more

We stumbled across this place while my family was visiting from out of town. My mom wanted to see German Village and my dad wanted to try a proper German-style beer. After a disappointing experience across the street with crap beers, we wandered into Club Diversity and discovered my (conservative, from-Montana) parents' favorite bar in Columbus. We hit them up on a gorgeous day where the patio in the back was comfortable and inviting, found great drink prices, and ended up buying (too many, very strong) vodka gummy bears. My dad then was excited at the prospect of live piano playing and singing of snow tunes, so we went inside and befriended the very friendly customers. I know that parents always play well at gay bars (and, since my mother looks exactly like an older version of me, it was obvious that is who they are), but the staff and patrons were friendly, the surroundings are comfortable, the prices are great, and the place is just great. If Club Diversity served food, we might have been there all night. read more

What a surprise! My friend has been begging me to go with her for eons and I finally went last night around 8:30PM. Let me say that the interior is really well done. Very cozy and cool. The club itself is an old home so when you enter it feels like you are at a classy house party. Since we went pretty early the place was not busy at all. It started to fill up closer to 10PM or so. For me, that's how I like to end my week, a laid back atmosphere - not crowded and not loud. The martini's are supposedly some of the best in town. I've got to say that their chocolate martini is the best I've ever had. What ever chocolatey goodness they put around the rim - it had me hooked! The powder had a hint of salty but sweet chocolate. Amazing stuff! A little after 9PM the jazz started. Mary McClendon was the vocalist. There were mixed reviews with the ladies with me. HOwever, I think Mary's vocals were very admirable - light and breezy. She can definitely sing but I don't think that I would rate her up with the classics like Billie, Ella or Sarah. Very entertaining though and I think that overall it was exactly the atmosphere I needed. One of the most important things at a restaurant after taste and service is the quality of restrooms. Ladies, don't be shocked to see men going in and out of the women's restroom. Who cares these days, right? We're all friends...And when you've gotta go, you've gotta go. What a lovely little bar, and clever too how it used to be a house. It is one of the most welcoming bars I have been too. I do not feel like I am being judged in a negative context, everyone is there to socialize, hang out, and just have a good time. I have only been there a few times and each time I had a blast. The best part of Club D is their out door patio. This is one great patio to socialize and have some great conversation. The music is not to loud but loud enough you can bob your head to it if you'd like. All in all its a great neighborhood bar to walk too, gay or straight do not matter. Club D has really great drinks.... but the service at times left me disappointed. Recently I came here with a group of friends in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. Besides our group, there was only a handful of other customers -- less than 12 people total in the place. Club D has a list of "house" martinis. As we were finishing our first round, we each one-by-one went up to the bar and ordered second drinks. I had the Purple Crack for the first round, so I wanted to try something different on the next round. When it was my turn to order, I asked for a Tropical Martini, but the bartender said they were all out. I responded, "Which Martini would you reccomend?" He quipped back, "I don't know, just hurry up and pick something!" Wow, that rudeness really caught me off guard. I looked back and there was like 2 other people at the bar behind me, and they place was still empty. It's not like I was holding things up. And for a bar known for their martinis, you'd think the bartender would be excited to talk about them, or at least offer a suggestion on his favorite. 6/2017 Haven't been in awhile and won't be back for awhile. One bartender working on pride Saturday. Ordered Titos and lemonade and was served - sour mix and water with Titos... bartender (older w/gray beard) awful and not personable. Didn't even greet us or his guests - he should find a new job where he doesn't deal with people. The owner contacted me the same day and was very sincere and willing to make changes. I will try this location again 7/2018 - This Bar cant stop from tripping over itself. Walked in, stood at bar for 10 minutes while someone was making frozen drinks. Another bartender comes back out and waits on another group and others without even recognizing us. You gotta be a reg to get service here. read more

My first time here for a Network Columbus happy hour event and I'm shocked there was ONE bartender working when they knew 100+ people would be here. Waiting in a single file line for 30 (yes THiRTY) minutes to get a drink is completely inexcusable. I hope the organizers do not plan an event here again. I like show tunes! So where do you (an older gentleman - well dressed) go to enjoy tunes and friends and a cab or beer or something? A guy can go here, stand by the bar and talk to Rick and not feel like, "Oh. You're is sales (or whatever) and you have to be this or that or this or that!" The vibe is easy and relaxed and people just don't judge. And the guys at work are judgey and whatever. Really. Whatever. I came on a Wednesday around 10pm. It was pretty dead. I was the only female in the place. I ordered a martini. This is the first time I've ever paid $12 for a martini. I tried the chocolate martini and I didn't think it was really any better than the martinis you get a Cheddars which cost less. Great bartenders who remember your name, a variety of musical offerings, terrific movie nights (the Christmas horror movie night was particularly inspired), and free, fresh popcorn. We regularly attend "Sing Out, Louise" on the last Monday of each month. Local musical performers sing show tunes from shows well known and obscure, with the incredible Wendy as their pianist. I'm not a barhound, so I was happy to find this not one of the places with headcrushing music and people packed in like sardines. It's in an old house which has been gutted, sparsely furnished, and well-lit. There's a piano player in the corner, and it's quiet enough that you can sit and have a conversation. A great place for a calmer, older crowd looking to socialize without bombed twenty-somethings crashing into them. We visited Club Diversity for the first time last night and I can honestly not remember the last time I had this much fun in a gay bar. With such a charming environment (it's in a century-old former private home), this bar has an intimate, welcoming feel no matter where you are. The center bar area has plenty of seating and bartenders that know how to make a DRINK. The martinis are the house specialty and they are made strong - but be prepared to pay for this service. Average price runs $8.50 per drink with their signature chocolate martini topping out at $12.00, the highest I've paid for a mixed drink in Columbus. The musical duo of Dede and Bobby entertained the crowd with a mix of standards and show tunes, music for this girl's ears. The best part of our experience was that the crowd trends older - 40's and 50's - and I finally feel as if I'm not in a gay bar that only caters to the young, pretty and drunk where the focus is hooking up. Speaking as a 50-something year old bear, I found Club Diversity to be the perfect place to have a drink....... when you have a bf and want to just chew-the-fat with other older folk. The place is aesthetically pleasant; the drinks strong, the bartenders -always friendly. THIS IS NOT the place you want to go to when you are cruising or/and want to party.
