Wow! No reviews since 2017. I was a member from 2017 to 2019. The only reason I stopped my membership was because I'm moving out of town. The instructors at Club KO genuinely care about the people in their class. They will politely correct form and also provide encouragement if they see the class struggling (they never single anyone out). As you walk in, the front desk is always friendly. The instructors (once they know you) will say hi as you walk in. The classes and their content vary based on day and time. If you're reading this and timid about your first class, here's how it will go: Show up 10-15 minutes before class. Be ready to sign a waiver. If you don't have gloves they will provide them for the first class. I'd recommend having your own wraps but I've seen them give latex gloves to people to wear in their gloves. Class starts with jump rope, and then it gets into boxing. You have one 5-minute break in the middle. You will sweat, you will get fit. I would recommend Club KO to anyone interested in getting fit or learning about boxing. And in case anyone is wondering, I've never seen anyone get hit in the head or the body in a class. read more

Phenomenal training facility! Have been driving past this place for years and recently started going to train for an amateur match a have coming up in a few months. The coaches are very welcoming but will make you sweat! They will push you but you also have to push yourself. They have great group classes that are still pretty interactive despite it being a group vs one on one. And the one on one training session are extremely valuable and you will get worked! read more

Ok, this is my 100th check in and I'm going to update my review for KO Boxing. After a year in this gym, nothing changed from my previous review. The staffs are friendly and workout is hard as heck, and I still sweat like summer in Texas. Here are some of my "professional" tips: 1) Not all classes are created equal, some of the class is more cardio and some are more for strength training, and some are mixed. So depends on what you are looking for and your schedule, I would suggest try all of them and see what tickles you 2) Don't pay attention to the person next to you, do it in your own pace and your ability. But don't forget to push yourself. Trust me, you can do that extra rep. Stay consistent. 3) The last row of bags are harder than the first three rows of bags, I started with the softer bags and moved to hard ones about 6 months ago, but I still mix it up sometimes because you get more cardio exercise on the soft bags, but more strength on the hard bags. 4) Although you get tons of cardio exercise, but it shouldn't replace running or hiking. IMO, I think it replaces weight training because you use your own body weight with pushing up and punching. Although in the Camp KO class, you have a circut, but the weight is pretty light. 5) This is mainly for the guys. If this is your first class, don't go all in on the first 5 mins, yeah, I know you can punch the bag hard, but can you do it for 55 mins? I see guys come in on first day and just start swing, but after 5 mins, they ran out of breath. Remember, consistency is the key. 6) Get your own glove, the common gloves smells, really really bad. WHY WHY WHY does this place not have more than one other review?! I discovered it when I changed jobs, and lost my Spectrum membership that was paid for by my previous employer. I was searching for something different, and tried it based on the one positive review on Yelp before this one. Great instructors that actually want you to learn how to box; getting and staying in shape is just a nice side effect. The classes are never too crowded, you can go in the AM or PM and have your choice of boxing, kick boxing, boot camp, and I think a few others. I typically burn anywhere from 680-800 calories in an hour long class. If anyone tries to say that it does not make them feel completely awesome to beat down on a punching bag every once in awhile, Club KO will change that. They even give you first class free just to prove it. read more

Love this place! Have been taking boxing classes here since July of 2010 and as long as you don't go home and eat everything in sight because you are so hungry after, it is the best thing ever! Not only do they not baby you here, they work to your strengths. They know who is strong at what, and they help you not give up. They have tons of classes here. I started with boxing and never tried any of the other classes yet. Boxing and I love each other:) When I started, someone said "the warm-up is 10 minutes of jump rope." I rolled my eyes. I jumped rope like I was in 4th grade. Now, I can do the 3 three-minute rounds with ease. When I attended my first class here, I had two other gym memberships. I soon got rid of Bally's. This place is perfect for you to get stronger, leaner, push yourself, AND become strong and powerful! (internally and out) I am a big fan and have definitely found my "thing" after coming to CLUB KO. read more

Absolutely love this place.. been a member for 4-5 months now and it kicks my butt every single time. The instructors are great, they make you work hard, help with your technique and push to do more and more. The structure of the class varies, some do more actual boxing, some are half and half with that and a little circuit, every time is a great workout though. 55 minutes of hard work started with jump roping for 3 rounds of 3 minutes. Highly recommend! Also, grab your own gloves and wraps to protect your hands, the general use ones are pretty gross because people are sweating soo much! read more

I've been wanting to switch up my workouts and thought that taking boxing classes would get me out of a rut. I actually found this place on yelp. The instructors are great and help with you maintaining proper form and technique. The workouts are definitely challenging. By the time you're done, you'll be drenched in sweat. Club K.O. - Fitness & Instruction Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

I love this place. It is like a second home almost. I highly recommend doing the 2-week, 5-class trial. Try a bunch of different classes and teachers to see what you like. Currently I'm going mostly to boxing with Gabe and kickboxing with Cristian but I have gone to classes with at least 8 different instructors and all of them are knowledgeable and good. In the classes I go to, you are free to work at your level so there's not pressure to be Mike Tyson from day one. It took me several weeks to feel like I was comfortable with the workouts and stuff but it's worth it because I feel like I have gained so much in so many ways from coming. This is a family-owned gym and they care about their clients and listen to feedback. Highly recommend! read more

The staff at the Bandera location are awesome. I've been going to Club K.O since October 2018. The classes are great, always end up exhausted and drenched in sweat. The instructors always ensure your form is correct and provide the enthusiasm/encouragement you need. When we were on quarantine last year, the gym switched to offering digital classes to keep the motivation going and continue to offer that as an option. This place is absolutely amazing. The instructors are great, and the workout is phenomenal. You burn a ton of calories during workout, and it's absolutely never boring. They also offer a variety of classes, all of which are excellent. The instructors are also really helpful, and teach you how to do things properly without making you feel stupid. What an awesome gym! I had been wanting to stop in for some time, but had managed to talk myself out of it. Finally, I got the gumption to DO IT! I walked in off the street to take advantage of the first class free offer. I had selected a class that was most appealing to me based on the course description-a boot camp/conditioning format. Everybody was very friendly. Once the workout was underway, I knew I was up for a challenge. During the warmup I kept reading "Tears may bring you sympathy, but sweat and hard work will bring you rewards" and that just made me keep plugging through. I was completely whooped when I left one hour later-but completely satisfied with the work out. The instructor and the staff treated me cordially. I'll definitely be back! My only complaint is that they no longer offer a drop in or pay-per-visit type of membership. I travel to and from SAT extensively but erratically so that type of payment option makes more sense for me than a full fledged month to month. read more

It is an intense workout. I dont work out often and i wanted to make a change and dedicate 2 days a week to something. After completing the first class for free i knew this was the challenge i was looking for. You Push yourself to do better but are welcomed at any level-myself being at level couch potatoe. i feel stronger and am looking forward to seeing my boby in a bathing suit months from now knowing i worked hard for that body and they helped me along the way. read more

Best gym ever! If you're looking for a boxing gym this is it! You won't find a better one in the area. The staff here is amazing and they know what they're doing. Everyone is really friendly from checking in to working out. They will really push you to get your best workout possible and it's judgment free. I took advantage of the free class promo months ago and the boxing ko class pretty much let me know that any 1 or 2 hour routine I previously did at my regular gym was mediocre. I gained a newfound respect for boxers after my first class. I finally joined a month ago and went with the month to month unlimited membership. I haven't tried the Kick KO, or Camp KO classes, I really enjoy the Boxing KO class and know it's a guaranteed minimum 1000 calories in that 55 mins every class. The classes are never the same and the instructors keep you motivated and push you to keep going. Mondays and Saturdays are the days it seems to be the least packed but Tuesd and Wednesdays can definitely get packed so I try to get there early those days. There's no judgment, no egos and no nonsense in this gym. All you'll find is hard working individuals, motivation from instructors and the blood, sweat and tears that people shed on their mission to get or remain fit. So if you're tired of just running on a treadmill and only burning 300 calories after half an hour, this is the place to come. You can easily triple that by putting in work doing routines here. read more

If you have a teen daughter do not risk taking her to KO. My daughter got injured three times so she stopped going. I notified staff and was told the owner would call me it's been several months and no call yet I continue to be billed. I had informed them at the onset that my daughter had an old back injury and would need help to modify work out. They did help her at the trial class but after that she was on her own and injured. I hate to leave bad reviews but feel this has to be stated to the public. read more
