They each have a unique style of teaching so it's cool to take multiple or different classes to get a mix of the styles they have ! Staff very friendly they are always trying to help out and don't worry about being discouraged they will make sure to make you feel better about yourself ! DONT COME HERE! First off, the pricing is incredibly misleading. There are no prices listed on the website, and when you call, they won't give you any info -- you have to go in person just to find out. They advertise a $199 starter pack, but once you're there, the price changes without warning. It's all very unprofessional and shady. I didn't even receive everything that was promised in the starter pack -- no gym bag, no proper uniform -- and they refused to give any refund or compensation for the missing items. Classes are often not taught by the owner or a qualified instructor, but by his son, and the front desk is handled by the owner's daughter. It feels more like a loosely run family business than a serious training facility. There's little consistency or structure, and when I decided to leave, they charged me a $200 cancellation fee that was never clearly explained beforehand. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone -- especially not beginners or women. The environment isn't welcoming, and "light sparring" often turns more aggressive than it should. Though I never trained here, I can say the staff was very very friendly and the gym looked nice and clean. But the main issue I had with the gym was the price. Not once on their website did they mention a "$199" first time sign up fee. I think it's complete nonsense to charge someone a fee just to sign up. I completely understand monthly payments to attend the gym but stuff like this is just dumb and stupid. They wanted $199 a month or $397 for two months. (The original price for two months was $497 but they do offer student discounts so that's good for the most part) to attend the gym and that price is WAY too much. But at least you can pay in payments of "only" $198.50. Most gyms I've seen charge anywhere from $150 to $180 MAX! This gym is just a scam and wants to take your money, there are much better places out there to train at and I highly recommend avoiding this place. They never mention a price on their website so I hope I can do you guys a favor by you reading this. Going in I knew there was no set price yet and I was willing to pay $150-180 right then and there until I heard the ridiculous amount that they charge. ***PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING ANY 'FINE PRINT' CONTRACT*** Immediately after joining the gym I already was hearing rumors that there were some issues with the gym and it's owners. Apparently, they were not cleaning the mats enough and there was a high turnover rate with the students, coaches, and staff. Not to mention the price point is 50% higher than the average cost of other gyms and twice as much as the gym I go to now. After my 4 or so months of training there, me and a few other members got ring worm and there was a conflict between the head coach and the owners which resulted in a hand full of students and the head coach leaving the gym. I ignored the issues and kept training anyway. It was extremely convenient to go to this gym considering I lived walking distance away, and bc I made some great friends in the remaining coaches and training partners. Also, someone had to go to the hospital for a staff infection in their leg later. During the initial COVID-19 Months students were unable to attend the gym for about 3 or so months but were still forced to pay their outrageous prices b/c they offered online classes and urged us to attend even though they did next to nothing for improving your jiu-jitsu ability. After 3 years of training here I become one of the top performing competitors and won many medals representing Pinnacle Martial Arts. I am a college student and sometimes funds can become an issue, and competitions are expensive. I let the owners know that I will be moving soon to transfer schools and that I was hurting as far as money goes. I went from contract to paying 3 or so months at a time instead. However, the move date kept getting pushed back due to unforeseen circumstances. They didn't budge a nickel on their price, and I was paying 200$ a month. About 3 months out from my move date I was due to pay for Nov and Dec. I needed to give the owners a new card but I did not have the money so I did not train those months, and I had already mentioned to the owners that I would be changing gyms b/c I was moving to the other side of town. Coincidentally during this time, our head coach brought some issues to the owners of the gym which were ignored and resulted in him and MOST of the long-term students leaving the gym. In my new home I live 33 minutes away from the gym and they 'currently' no longer have a daily head coach that can officially teach classes. And now, the reason for this review's existence. To boost their reputation and replace lost members, Pinnacle affiliated themselves with a gym in Austin and made a deal that their blackbelt would come teach classes once a month. I happen to be a fan of this person and their unique style of jiu-jitsu and already met and trained with him a couple times before. Excited at this being a local opportunity, I messaged the owners offering to pay a mat fee to come train on that day. They said I would only be welcome if I was still a member! In my short few years of training even I know this IS NOT THE WAY OF JIU JITSU or much less any way of running a business. This is unbecoming behavior of an upper-level belt, gym, and does not represent this sport appropriately. There are much better alternatives in town with a much friendlier family like atmospheres. *Fine Print They may offer you free months or a discounted rate, but if you accept then cancel your membership you lose all your money. When I lived in San Antonio, I trained Brazilian Jiu-jitsu at Pinnacle.  I must say that choosing Pinnacle as my martial arts school was one of the best decisions I could have made for myself.  I had heard horror stories of people choosing schools that when you went into your first class, you were treated as if you had been training all your life.  I wanted to learn self-defense and have fun working out, but I did not want to get beat up for no reason.  So I did my research, I saw their reviews, I read all their emails and saw their videos and decided to go check it out.   I gave them my information online, someone contacted me immediately to see how they could help me and  to set up my free private tour. (they were super friendly and helpful)  When I first walked in, I was nervous because I didn't know what to expect, but I was immediately greeted by someone at the front door.  They showed me the school, made me feel comfortable, talked about how they could help me and set me up in my first class.  I knew immediately, that this school was run on a different caliber than some others I had checked out.  I went to my first class, again I was pretty nervous, but my instructor was so helpful and since I started in the Fundamentals Class, I didn't get beat up by anybody! Yay! After that I was hooked!  I never missed classes, and I was even invited into the CAP program to train with the higher belts once I learned some technique and felt more comfortable. If I was still in San Antonio, this would still be my home school.  I still have friends from here and will never forget the wonderful experience they helped me have as a newbie martial artist!  I'm so thankful to this school.  If you live in San Antonio, you should definitely check it out. read more

They ADVERTISE a 30 day free trial but it's not free at all. They want 250$ for the first month, and then like some little weasels pretending to be your friend, try and lock you into a mandatory recurring payment of 188$ every month for 12 months by sneakily trying to force you to give them your credit card card information. That price equals out to $2,500 a year for a gym that has NEVER produced any top ranking UFC or Bellator fighters. They only have one person who made it to the "ultimate fighter" and not even he trains there anymore because there's way better gyms. When I was watching the coach and personal trainer hold pads for the students, they didn't instruct them how to throw a punch properly, I saw uppercuts thrown like one inch punches and hooks thrown like slaps hitting with the back side of the glove and he DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING. On top of that, they only have one huge mat and 4 or 5 heavily worn out punching bags. You can find better for cheaper or at least better credentials. When I was at Greg Jacksons MMA in New Mexico (which has produced numerous champions) NEVER was I forced to give them my credit card information and it was only about $400 for 3 months. Don't trust Adam and don't trust Jose. They pretend to care but if they did they wouldn't try and lock you into a 12 month contract WITHOUT telling you for their commission. Luckily i didn't bring my card that day and when I got home I read exactly what it said. Waste of my time and would have been a waste of 2.5k of my money too. read more

I joined this gym when I first moved to San Antonio a little over a year ago. The jiujitsu here is top notch. The instructors are competing champions themselves and instill that hard work and intensity into their students. Plus the people that train here are friendly and awesome =). I came in with zero jiujitsu experience and everybody I train with is constantly and kindly offering me tips and on various techniques, super nice! I could quickly tell that everybody here cares about the success of one another and are truly friends. I came in with some boxing experience and was VERY happy to find out that Coach Daniel was a previous boxer himself. He held mitts for me on my first day and I was sold. He has great attention to detail when it comes to technique and is invested in the success of anybody that trains under him. He is a genius when it comes to his students' training regimen, and a jack of all trades when it comes to fighting.
