I came to this club Friday April 25th with a group of 12 people to celebrate a friend's birthday. I was completely sober and ordered a Sprite since the bar was closed. It took a long time for the drink to arrive, and when it finally did, the waitress handed it directly to me. About 30 minutes later, I started to feel extremely dizzy and weak. I could barely walk, and eventually collapsed inside the club. I was conscious but had no control over my body. Security called the paramedics and cared for me well however this was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. I didn't drink, wasn't alone, and still became a target. If I had made it outside by myself, I don't think I would have made it home. I'm sharing this so others stay aware. If something like this can happen to someone who's sober and with a big group, it can happen to anyone. Whether it was negligence or something more intentional, I hope this venue takes safety more seriously. No one should have to experience what I went through. read more

Decided to take one of my friends here before he left Houston. I had never been to a Houston strip club before and wanted to go here. Everything was good. Girls were nice, friendly, and talked to everyone. Jasmine was our waitress and she was good as well. Don't have any complaints, good vibes overall and definitely will be coming back in the future. Visited this place for a bachelor party and had a great time. We paid for the silver VIP Bottle package that came with 2 bottles and seating for 8. We had 5 people and got in with no issues. We were seated and our server, Krystle, was amazing. We were a bit excited and had about 3-4 people asking her for different things all at once and she met every request with a smile. She was very attentive to us and it made for a memorable evening. The hookah was good and we were preoccupied so we didn't try the food. The girls were fun and friendly. I didn't care too much for the club. Idk if it's because I'm spoiled by Atlanta strip clubs but this just ain't do it for me. I came here a little over a year ago but I'll never forget my experience. First and foremost, to force people to buy a table is ridiculous to me. I get y'all tryna push the bottle service but to basically say you can't stay unless you buy a bottle after paying $20 at the door? I ain't never heard of that in my life. Second... after you buy said bottle and get a table, there's a TIME LIMIT ON THE ALCOHOL?? We ordered the bottle at 1:15, we got it and at 2am we were rushed to finish it by the bottle girl because there was a limit. Absolutely ridiculous we paid for bottle service?! The girls were kind of lazy, nobody really did any tricks and no girl came over to our table (I guess they figured because we were a table full of women we weren't going to spend money, but we were!). When I decided I was going to Houston, I called the club to reserve a spot for my man and I. I got in contact with someone by the name of John who was helpful from the very beginning. I explained I could not come to the venue to reserve the spot because I am from NY. I wanted to pay over the phone but was unable too because they don't take information over the phone. COOL... so now we are in Houston and I remained in communication with John. He answered all of my questions and upon arrival welcomed us in and the vibe was amazing from beginning to end. We planned on only going Friday night but went back because we had so much fun the night before. Our waitress KoKo kept our champagne flowing, made sure we kept money on the table and any women we did not want to be entertained by she handled it. Between John and Koko we felt appreciated. All the strippers were nice and respectful. They approached me first before dancing for my man. Once they realized we was there for a good time we were laughing and drinking with the strippers. I've been to some of the best strip clubs across the country from Miami, D.C. and NY. I will be back in a few months with my girls and can't wait to let John know. These dancers will try to lie about prices and amount of songs they performed for you. They will try to charge you even if you do not agree to have a dance....meaning: If they dance near you on their own they will ask you for payment. My tip is to not get drunk or you will get taken advantage of. I was not. I tipped very well for those who we honest and not thirsty acting. Lol The majority of the ladied are beautiful and sexy. The beautiful and sexy ladies were not the ones trying to lie/ over charge/try to take advantage of/ me for trying to enjoy my son's 21st birthday. Be on the lookout and have a good time. The thirsty ones will test your sobriety. Dont be a fool. Over all we had a great time 90% of the time. The music was great and my son thanked me for "The best birthday ever!" BUT before you can get ready to pop your bottle *scratches music, puts money back in pocket, gets up, walks out* It was Cinco de Mayo weekend and all my friends and I wanted to do was to go out, have fun, and celebrate. Onyx was one of our stops while exploring Richmond Ave. for some fun. Walking up we were hype like "Oh yeah it's about to go dowwwwwn!" However once inside our hypedness slowly faded away. On a typical night entry is $20. Luckily we got in free so that really had us turnt. We walk in to scope out the scene and at first I'm like okay okay this is pretty nice. It was a room full of pretty girls trynna shake what they mama gave em and make their money. Although five minutes in I started to be real unimpressed. As much as these rappers hype up Onyx in their song I thought these chicks would be in here pulling some KOD / Magic City Monday tricks. Nahhhh not these Houston Skrippers. Instead of twirling on poles and dropping down doing tricks and splits. All I was observing was some mediocre twerking and DASSSSSIT. I was so upset y'all! Like shoot nothing they were doing was out of the ordinary. I say that because I could've hopped my scary self up there and pop locked and dropped it since that's all they were doing. Maybe during special events they pull out the good moves BUT it definitely wasn't gonna happen on that night. The poles were barely touched! That has to be unethical in the exotic dancer handbook. This is the second installment of a review which began with my review of Cedar Creek . that review is above this one on my profile "My Inauguration Day night out" Part 2. Got to Sam's Boat around 9'ish and met up with my pal Wendy. We ordered a couple of beers and chatted for a while. I explained to Wendy what a bad week it had been. We had thousands of dollars worth of tools stolen from the test site on the weekend and then I never got a mention on 'The Real Men of Yelp' circular! Not on!. Must have been that review of the Spa I wrote when i talked about Metrosexuals and Manbags! He said "Hang on a minute. We are here in Sam's Boat and there's a Mens Club next door isn't there? Lets go there, that is manly stuff and you can write it up" I had already written a Yelp review for a Houston Mens Club called 'All Stars' and that was a 1* joke but I thought, sod it, lets go for it. Why not? We chugged our beers and made our way to Onyx......... At the door a bouncer stopped us. Him : "Got your ID" Me : "Here it is mate" Him : "You from Australia" Me : "No mate, England" Him : "London?" Me : "No, Mars mate. It's just above London" (that went straight over his head) Him : "Gonna need to search ya" Me : "That's alright pal, left my Bow and Arrows on the nightstand" Him : "Haha, Man, You Australians are all jokers..... You're clean. Go on in" Paid the $20 each cover and walked inside. First thing you notice when you walk in.... It is dark .... and you hit a wall of sound. Music is REALLY LOUD. Small bar dead ahead. To the right is a stage and to the right of that are the toilets and an ATM. On the left was a small podium with a Pole. We headed straight for the bar but got jumped on by a BOBFOC** type lass. She: "Hey sweetie, where y'goin" Me : "Gonna get a drink love" She: "You from Australia?!" Me : "Yep" ( you didn't think I was going to go through all that again did you?) She: "My name is Hollywood, what's yours?" Me : "Joel ..... Joel Rebocks" (She never got it..) She: "Do you want me to come with you to the bar babe?" Me : "No thanks, I can manage OK from here" She: "OK, see you later Blue eyes" We ordered a couple of large Vodka Red Bulls and I got change from a 20 spot so that was good. We took a table by the small podium where the music wasn't so loud and took in the scenery. Girls here come in all shapes and sizes, something for everyone. They were all generally good looking with the odd fugly but, it is a matter of taste I guess. Common to them all were the costumes which could easily double as dental floss. Not much imagination required here. There was some real RRRrrrrumpa Bumpa Pumping going on on the stage and Baby Bash's "Cyclone" was tune of the night. It appeared to play every 20 minutes. Nothing too much wrong with that but at the volume setting they had it at, it was more like "Baby Bash Your Ears In". The volume had gone up further and it was difficult to hear and the reverb was that strong that the glasses were shaking and moving round like they were on a Ouija board!! The BOBFOC lass turned up again. All I could hear was every other word. She : "... Baby, .... for .. dance" Me : "No thanks, OK for the min" She : "We ... broom in ... back if ... want?" Me : "A broom..? What do you mean?" She : "What Baby?" Me : SHOUTING NOW ........"JUST HERE FOR A DRINK, MAYBE LATER" She heard that OK. I had seen from the bar that there was a pool table and so I tapped my mate on the shoulder and motioned to go through. We spent the rest of the evening there, as you could hear yourself talk, and we got drinks brought to us. The one thing that stands out about this club is how none of the girls tried to pressure us into spending money. Lots of them came and chatted with us and just seemed curious as to what two White blokes were doing in Onyx. I did a count back this morning and I reckon I spent around $100 all in and had a really good night. Just the tinnitus that is bothering me now. When we left at around 1:30AM the BOBFOC** lass was pre-occupied with another customer and appeared to be helping him find his lunchbox so we skirted by and the bouncer who had searched me earlier gave us a friendly "See y'all. Did you have a good time?" I was expecting a great experience and it was everything but that. If you want to spend $100 on a table to just be bored by the unenthusiastic dancers then by all means this is your place. There was one dancer that really tried and seemed to enjoy her dancing and another that had an amazing body that entertained me for about 20 minutes. I tried staying longer just because we had already paid the entrance of $20/person and $100 for the table...stayed a total of an hour and perhaps JR was just 30 minutes too long. The sex on the beach I got was just having a glasss of juice. Drank half ways just because I was thirsty. I was really looking forward to having a great time. It's a ripoff. I am sure you can find a better place elsewhere. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. They hire the most incompetent people to work the front. I was on a quick trip from Cali and wanted to get a section for at least 15 ppl and the staff didn't seem to understand that ‍ then finally they realized what I was saying and said they couldn't take my card because their card machine was broke but wouldn't allow me to use the atm machine that I'm assuming they had inside ( I don't know of any strip clubs that don't have an ATM machine) anyways place is trash don't waste your time unless they get new staff read more

I've been here several times and always have a nice time. Now if you're rating this against a vegas type get up...don't lol. The inside is not glamorous, but you'll get your drinks + entertainment. Cost: The $20 cover charge isn't that much considering most people aren't going to pay to get dances & with the food & drinks being super cheap...yeah they'd make no money, so I totally get it. Food + Drinks: I've never eatten here, but people seem to love the food. The drinks are normal. Parking: Yes the parking out back can get super packed. This is why I valet my car and get here early enough to where it's parked out front the entire time. Easy come easy go. Time + Seating: The place gets packed when the club lets out, so I'd say between 1:30 - 3:00 if you don't have vip, enjoy standing which sucks because you just paid $20. I usually get here 11:30 ish or so to get a guaranteed seat (there are SOOOO many tables reserved; I wish they had more general seating). I also like 11:30 ish arrival because this way all of the dancers have arrived by 12 or so, and you can enjoy an unsweaty dance, just being honest...they're doing athletics so what do you expect lol. Dancers: You can usually find what you like. ATM: Get cash before you go. The ATM lines can get long + yes you have to pay that ATM fee. Bathroom: Master the art of holding pee jk, but no seriously, with one toilet per gender, the lines can get long lol. read more

I celebrated my ***21st A-Day here, and it was pretty cool strip club. I've been here maybe a few times after that but I don't frequent that much anymore. This is an AA club (the dancers are mostly African Anerican) and some of the seasoned dancers DO use the pole. But you will see mostly booty shaking in here. If you are into that, then this may be your place. If you like to see extensive technique on the pole then you should go someplace else. I think they have a "champagne room". I've never been inside though. The parking lot could use more lighting and could be cleaned up a bit. They serve drinks but get bottle service and a section. read more

My fav. gentlemens club in Houston... for sure. You get hood with cleanliness and overall hot women. 3 reasons I go regularly: 1. $2 Tuesdays! 2. My girl Celebrity (oooh, she gets all my $) 3. The MUSIC! I highly recommend it over High Rollers, Legends and Foxxys (even though I have a lot of fun there)... The service is just how you imagine a strip club to be- not enough servers, but they are friendly and nice though. Club Onyx is located right behind Sams Boat on Richmond and adjacent to Uptown Hookah Bar. It is somewhat of a Houston institution. Whenever someone thinks of going to an A.A. gentlemens club, this is the place that's usually recommended. It is owned by the Rick's Corporation and they do a pretty good job of promoting the place. It is ok on the inside, nothing too glamorous or run down. They have a few champaigne and VIP rooms and the wait staff is friendly. The girls are hit or miss. I've gone in here several times and seen my future ex-wife (marinate on that a minute) and I've seen women that made me cringe in fear. However, they have cornered the market on Tues night entertainment. $2 cover, dances, and drinks on Tues. That, along with 25 cent wings on Tues makes it a pretty hard deal to beat. read more

There are 2 things I love about best friends weddings. One is getting to see all my friends and the second are bachelor parties. Wanted a private party but we decided to head to Club Onyx instead on a Wednesday night. There were 5 of us and more than enough ladies to go around. All the women we saw were 4-5 stars with beautiful faces and amazing bodies to match. Most importantly they took care of our guy, making sure he enjoyed the last few nights of freedom. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but I dropped 3 stars over one girl. I wasn't there for a dance, I was there to get my best friend as many dances as a soon to be married lap could take. One girl kept hanging around our table. She was friendly and seemed cool and then basically kept begging me to let her dance for me. I let her dance for me and next thing I know she was trying to charge me for 3 dances. Not cool at all. Ultimately it was handled but that was a tad ridiculous and just adds fuel to the fire of why I stay away from gentlemen clubs. read more

You have to check them out on a weekend, you would never think there was a recession going on. This is where I learned to make it rain. I don't see that enough in Chicago. In here? That shit was a constant. The dudes that are swollen, big, meaty motherf%$ers are the ones with the fat stacks. I've never ever seen people hand a stripper a fat stack of singles, think fat pristine freshly printed stack with the money ribbon; like what you'd get from the bank. The stack was so heavy it just flipped out of her thong. There are fat booty ladies, thick and lovely, slender and tall, and cottage cheesy, seems that most men like'em all here. Of all the clubs I saw while in town, this club showed the most appreciation to it's dancers. The dancer has so much money, they bring out a garbage bag to carry their money. As far as pole talent, the most I've seen in Houston, right here. Most southern strip bars do that lazy crap, lady just shakes the fat of her bootay. Meh. Being from Chicago, it was a surprise to me to see lovely lovely women (patrons) come to the club just to watch, with their friends or boyfriends. I think every dancer in here was African American and most of the clientele were as well. Everyone was friendly and the door people and security were on top of their game. Is table service non existent? Could just be that we arrived at the club when they cut off the alcohol.. The exterior white palace like walls of the building does not match the lounge like pool hall interior. (Cover was $10 before midnight (I'd like to say midnight, it's a constant throughout Houston, after a specific time all these clubs charge 50% more for cover) Parking is a private lot, without a charge. read more

Security mentioned there was a 40 dollar fee to "skip the line" once we switched to the skip the line, line and lost our spot he said "oh I said 40 to skip ON TOP on the 35 entry fee. 1st strike.
