I love this place so much! I wanted to try Pilates reformer classes for years and had assumed it was too expensive. It's totally affordable! The classes are fantastic. I go once a week and I always learn something new, and that's saying a lot because I work in the fitness industry. Shout out to my two favorite instructors, Rocio and KaRon. Several of my friends take classes at Club Pilates and it came highly recommended. My sister and I are looking for a good fit for us to take classes together (not sure yet whether it will be reformer pilates that we lock in on). On Sunday, we had our 30 min. intro class. It was a great balance of multiple options that a typical pilates class might include. The class was packed to the brim with 12 students, but it didn't feel crowded. It was very clean. There wasn't a ton of space for people to wait for the previous class to finish, but it wasn't a big deal. There are lockers (just crates; no locks) to stow your items. There is a water fill station. We brought our own grippy socks, but there are socks available for purchase. There is plenty of parking. There was a waiver we filled out and brief information was shared at the end if we were interested in signing up that day. Obviously, prices change/ fluctuate and pilates classes are generally quite pricy, and that's true here too. Leading up to the class, it was easy enough to sign up. This studio always has the best energy! I take classes twice a week and I'm encouraged and motivated by all of the trainers. The equipment is clean, accessible at your station, including TRx, hand weights and spring board. The front staff is friendly and helpful with scheduling, billing or technical needs. I've tried a few studios in upper oakland and they don't compare. read more

Club Pilates in Alameda has been the perfect way for me to get back into exercising consistently. There's nothing like a steep membership fee to really motivate you to go to class haha. I did the intro class with Dominique right after Thanksgiving and after a quick chat with Kat, the assistant manager, I was convinced to sign up for the unlimited membership (single studio). The sale offer is $202/month for the first month, then the regular price of $289/month for a 3-month commitment. I guess I'm committed for 3 months! Instructors here really focus on breathing and modifications/accommodations. It's been great trying classes with all of the instructors, then finding your faves. My personal faves are Dominique, Sara, Justine, and Laura! I love that they use a variety of equipment to really maximum the range of motion for our bodies. I attended an intro session -- the facility is super clean, well organized and has just about anything you could imagine that goes with a Pilates reformer. Unfortunately, I felt that their subscription / membership options were a bit inflexible so opted to not proceed with signing up. Hard to book a class unless you buy additional classes and book 1 and 1/2 to 2 months ahead. If you mention a problem, staff can give you the look like "that's a you problem" but okay. Teachers are good. Place is clean. read more

I changed my mind after I wrote my first review. If the Business improved contacting members before making changes to reservations, that would make the most common sense. Plus, I'm not even considered a "member" because I have a renew active plan. A fellow "renew active" person who goes to Alameda Club Pilates said that it's seems like Alameda Club Pilates doesn't like "renew active" because we are not even considered members. read more

Recently joined Club Pilates after a free trial. I've tried classes with Gabby and Nadia and they are really great instructors. They are energetic and descriptive, which is useful when you are lying on the reformer and can't see them directly! The studio is clean and well lit and the parking lot is never full full. The level 1 classes are hard to get into for ideal times but that's expected if the the studio is good (12 per class) and its open 7 days a week. So far I really enjoy working out here! read more

I abhor repetitive exercise - it's so boring!!! But not so with Club Pilates. It's the only place that gets me in shape fast, in a way that reduces the strain of loadbearing exercise exercises, and is fun. I'm a beginner and can't do squats, but I can do squats on the Pilates machine!!!! Yay! You make me feel like a winner. read more

I first saw Club Pilates' online ad when I was doing physical therapy. I noticed the similarities my PT was making me do at the clinic and at home. I talked to my PT at my next session and he told me that it is actually a really good idea to supplement with my therapy and I should try it. A few weeks after I started with Club Pilates, my insurance stopped paying for my PT. I didn't mind it because my workout was really good at helping with my knee pain. More than a year later, I am happily enjoying my workouts and it helps with my pains. read more

I have been going to the Alameda location recently for a month or so, and I've been seeing instructors that fit my schedule the best. But the instructor that I really enjoy seeing is Lisa with her cardio sculpt 1 class! She is a gem! She always has a smile on her face, and her classes are fun and engaging. She also takes time to explain each exercise that we're going to do, and she always motivates us to try on the more challenging movements, but to also listen to our bodies if we're feeling up to the challenge or not. She's also very approachable and helpful as well. I love taking her classes because I know that I'll get a great work out in, and I always leave feeling happy and ready to take on whatever is next in my day. The front desk staff are also nice as well! And they always greet members when they come in through the door and leave. They also have been helpful any time I need assistance. Starting Pilates has been on my to do list to start for some time, and I'm glad to start when I did. I really appreciate the environment, and everyone has been so nice and helpful. read more

Love this studio! Everyone is so nice. The instructors are also good. I go to several studios in the Bay and this is one of my favorite and have some of the best instructors. There are only downsides I can think of... More than other locations, people tend to hold spots until about 30mins prior to class. This doesn't leave much time to make it. I tend to waitlist multiple classes and sometimes I unwaitlist at the same time. When I text, they are very nice about removing a class so I don't lose my credit. Also, they don't have the fabric Straps like most the other locations. I recommend gloves or buying your own straps if you care about that. read more

IMPROVED MOBILITY Shoutout to Rachel, Kyleata and Ann Marie. Rachel - Extremely clear with her instructions and always has a great hip hop playlist! She's one of my favorite instructors. I always leave her class feeling like I got a good workout. Kyleata - Playlist is amazing--think NeoSoul/soft r&b. Will gently correct you if you are doing a move incorrectly. Ann Marie - one of the more challenging instructors. She incorporates a lot of TRX and ab workouts. Provides very easy to follow instructions. I've been a member at Club Pilates for almost a year and my honest personal review is that it is *great* for mobility, however has not been intense enough to see any weight loss and/or toning of my body. Prior to Pilates I was strength training at my gym 3-5x a week and incorporating cardio with the stair master. I've switched to solely doing Pilates and have lost muscle definition (no fault of the studio!) but I've realized these classes will serve as a light stretch/workout for me vs. the heavy strength training I was previously doing to look toned. I started taking 2.0 classes recently and enjoy them most. Additionally I feel much more flexible since doing Pilates regularly. I'm in my late 20s and have usually found community in workout class memberships. Respectfully, Club Pilates Alameda is more of a middle aged crowd so it has been harder to connect with other members. All and all--great studio for a quick morning workout. read more

This is a well-equipped and clean studio with great instructors and loads of classes offered on the schedule. The downside is their practice of continuing to sign up new clients beyond what the schedule can actually accommodate. Classes fill up very quickly and you will find it challenging to schedule all the classes you pay for each month. I also don't like their practice of charging a sign-up fee on top of the monthly charge. read more

Studio is clean and staff are friendly and helpful. Each instructor has their own style and taste in music so I encourage folks to try different instructors to find your match, though, you may be limited to a specific instructor depending on your schedule. I do appreciate that the instructors try to mix it up so that it doesn't get repetitive. They offer a variety of class styles as well like TRX that I really enjoyed. I just wished I had more flexibility in my schedule to take them more often. read more

LOVE Club Pilates. It has been over a year since I joined and Pilates has changed my life. I had done Pilates in the past but the consistency of membership has been transformative. In addition, the teachers are amazing. It takes a beat to figure out which teacher and class is best for you. Everyone is different. Overall with excellent classes, some private classes, and regular support from these super knowledgeable teachers I have gotten stronger and discovered the joys of having a strong core to carry me through the days of too much computer time. While I have had many excellent teachers, Rachel's classes are a joy and I make sure to take her classes at least twice a week. Meera's attention to detail and teaching us form is imperative for getting better at this practice. Lisa's energy and fun is infectious. Honestly, I have not had one bad class in 15 months. There is one downside. Too many members for the schedule. I pay for an "unlimited plan" but its a constant game of being on wait lists. I manage to get into 3-4 classes a week, but my goal has been 5/wk. Not enough sculpt classes. I wish the studio was big enough to hold 2 concurrent classes, or a bigger space so there could be 15 instead of 12 reformers. They would have no trouble filling them at this location. Otherwise I wish I could choose a schedule and know that I have those classes every week. The time playing games with the app is my least favorite part. Oh and front desk folks are helpful and sweet. We see them more in passing but they have each and every one been delightful. read more

Rachael gives the best 1.0 classes, her instructions are easy to follow and she's very good about providing modifications for any special needs. I am just starting my second month of membership here. The classes are great, the instructors are so helpful to newbies. The studio is clean and well equipped and I've enjoyed every instructor I've tried. Getting the hang of booking classes took a little bit of time, but I find that almost every time I've been put on a waiting list, I've gotten into the class with enough notice to attend. I appreciate the abundance of free parking and the availability of classes seven days a week and over a number of hours each day. Highly recommend. read more

I've been attending the San Mateo ClubPilates classes mostly with Jan and I can't say enough great things about her. Jan is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. Jan is always observant, offering helpful adjustments and modifications that make the exercises both challenging and achievable. Jan creates a supportive atmosphere and her positive attitude makes the pilates class fun and challenging at the same time. Although I am doing Flow 1 (not ready for 1.5) I feel stronger, am getting more balanced, and as I learn more about my body and how Pilates helps to achieve that I am very grateful to Jan and her teaching technique. read more

I enjoy Club Pilates! I can tell the difference in my body & my friends would make positive comments about my body as well. The instructors are top notch, professional and knowledgeable about the movement to keep everyone engaged on all levels and I love that the classes are small. The small classes allow the teacher to personalize the class & quickly assist someone who needs help adjusting. There is such a wide range of classes that even as a full time entrepreneur, I can jump into classes that works with my schedule. Pilates is the best investment! The facility is always neat & clean. Never have to worry about forgetting the special socks, they have a section for them as well as clothing. What I like about this location is ample, free and safe parking. Club Pilates asked me to review them. I recently signed up, and I have been so incredibly disappointed. I signed up to take 2 classes per week. All classes are waitlisted, so I could not get into a single class for the first 2 weeks. And I can't sign up yet for next month's classes -- even though I have plenty of credits. I'm watching next month's classes all fill up! By the time I am allowed to sign up for next month's classes, they will be all booked and I will be waitlisted. I'm just not that flexible with my time. The club in Alameda is oversold. It's not at all what I expected. The customer service has been absent. The contract is absurd. They renew you for 3 months at a time -- which could be okay if they had classes available. I find their business practice to be unlawful and misleading. I have called the studio 5 times and I can't reach a human. I have used their texting system, and they said the manager Shannon would reach out, but I haven't heard a peep. read more
