I have been attending Club Pilates in Charlottesville for 2 years …read more I'm giving this review as a client and a licensed physical therapist. This studio is highly professional, inspiring and fun! I cannot say enough superlatives about the manager Juanita Franke ! She is extremely professional, engaging , kind and generous . Her mastery in anatomy , physiology and exercise science is exemplary! I love attending her classes ! She explains the exercises so well and clearly , as well as the benefits and physiology of w he at she is doing . As a client and a PT every session with her is a party for me . The majority of the instructors at this studio are also highly professional , knowledgeable, motivational and engaging . Some newer instructors require more supervision and training in my opinion but as I said the vast majority of them are extremely qualified and well versed in exercise science and quite creative in their approach . Especially notable in addition to Juanita , are Chloe, Sofia and Wendy . Pilates is a great way to keep in shape in a very fun way . I hope I can continue this wonderful exercise modality forever and I highly recommend this studio in Charlottesville under the masterful management of Juanita Franke .

Another spot I was so excited to see come to Charlottesville! I have been to several of the DC…read morelocations, so was very excited to try out one of the "community" classes in cville as the new instructors finish up their training. My class was with Megan W, who did an amazing job with the class. Since it was a training class, there were only 6 of us, so she was able to give each of us a ton of attention individually to make sure we were doing the moves correctly. This class is done on a Pilates mega former. Instead of trying to move quickly like with other classes, the goal is to move as slowly as possible and really feel the resistance. It's a low impact, high intensity workout that will leave you sore for days in the best way possible. I can't wait for this spot to fully with all the instructors fully trained!

If you're looking for a fitness program, I recommend you avoid [solidcore] and try one of the many other gyms in the area. First and foremost, I could never find a regular coach to work with. The turnover is rapid, with coaches going to other branches or disappearing entirely. Google "buzzfeed solidcore ceo harassment" and you will understand why. The exercise routine itself quickly became repetitive. It was the SAME situations targeting the SAME muscles, again and again, even if the class title was different. Whether it was "leg wrap & chest" or "hamstrings & arm wrap", I found myself doing the same movements. Needless to say, I ended up with an injury. After a dozen classes where I sometimes spent over 20 minutes doing planks, I got an inflamed bursa. [solidcore] then delivered their final insult: I asked to cancel my account, only to be told that there is a 30-day cancelation requirement. I am now suffering from pain, unable to exercise, and [solidcore] will charge my card for around $200 for classes that I cannot attend. Avoid [solidcore]. There are many great options in North Virginia. Don't risk your health for a fad.

The space was very lovely, spacious and convenient parking wise. All the teachers and students were friendly. During classes I appreciated each teacher as they all have their own personality and provided a safe place to really re-ground. My last class was the candlelight on Thursday and instantly after class I thought, I'm really going to miss this studio. I hope to visit again when I'm in town. Super clean and cozy. Thank you Caroline, Kira, Megan and Stephanie for providing such great space and flow!

As a beginner yogi, I am always wanting feedback on my form, and I appreciated that the instructors would stay after and answer any questions I had and also give me additional feedback. However, my latest experience after the 30 day trial wasn't the best, and I don't think I'll be returning. I attended my first aerial level 2 class, and I felt like a burden the entire time. It appeared that everyone was already well bonded--which was fine, but there wasn't much explanation behind any of the poses, and it was expected that I know poses that were completely foreign coming from level one. This was really discouraging, and I know I have a lot of room for growth in my practice, but I'd rather do it in a space where I feel comfortable with where I am in my practice.
