I was visiting Charlottesville and needed a yoga home for the next few nights. I came across this…read morefabulous studio and was very in awe with the instructors and the community. The space was very lovely, spacious and convenient parking wise. All the teachers and students were friendly. During classes I appreciated each teacher as they all have their own personality and provided a safe place to really re-ground. My last class was the candlelight on Thursday and instantly after class I thought, I'm really going to miss this studio. I hope to visit again when I'm in town. Super clean and cozy. Thank you Caroline, Kira, Megan and Stephanie for providing such great space and flow!

As a beginner yogi, I am always wanting feedback on my form, and I appreciated that the instructors would stay after and answer any questions I had and also give me additional feedback. However, my latest experience after the 30 day trial wasn't the best, and I don't think I'll be returning. I attended my first aerial level 2 class, and I felt like a burden the entire time. It appeared that everyone was already well bonded--which was fine, but there wasn't much explanation behind any of the poses, and it was expected that I know poses that were completely foreign coming from level one. This was really discouraging, and I know I have a lot of room for growth in my practice, but I'd rather do it in a space where I feel comfortable with where I am in my practice.

I wrongly assumed I could never be as good of a player compared to my early twenties, but Barre class got me back to that level (and I think even beyond it!) thanks to Wendy's Barre class. You don't even have to play a sport to see results, I would recommend Barre class at Center of Gravity to anyone! Everyone is super nice and very welcoming.

Thankfully, I found Center of Gravity and I am now a strong believer in the restorative benefits of yoga. Learning to breathe with movement and, strengthening my body through practice has resulted in increased flexibility for myself and less pain from arthritis. My instructors Wendy Orrison, Karen Stanley, Jen Coluzzi and Susan Dixon are professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and welcoming. During this time of Covid-19 the studio has offered almost all of their classes on-line at a discounted price to assist their clients and foster community. There is no judgement at Center of Gravity, whether you are a novice or someone who has done yoga all of their life. The environment is warm, inclusive of everyone and is a place to experience joy and laughter.

So after going to Soulcycle when I was home in NYC in December, I decided to give Purvelo a second…read morechance, and I'm glad that I did. The instructors and front desk reps are so friendly and took the time to get to know me at the cheer station for the 10 miler event last week and before/after the regular classes. I accidentally left my water bottle at my bike last night, and emailed the team. The owner, Kristin, was an angel and alerted the staff. One of the instructors and the front desk advised me of where the lost and found is and helped me figure out which one it was. Thank you for that because that bottle is expensive, lol I am literally sweating my fat away in these classes. I step on the scale every morning and noticed that I have lost three pounds this week. When I went last year, I lost ten pounds in about three weeks. I also feel "refreshed" and like a brand new person after my classes. After my contract ends with another boutique gym in the area and if I stay in the Cville area (I'm out of the area 5 days a week/12 hours a day for work right now), I will alternate monthly between going here and the other gyms in the area (I like to mix up fitness routines because I get bored easily). Parking is still a little tricky in the evenings, but since I signed up for the early morning classes, it has been a breeze (knocks on wood). I'm not a morning person, so not wanting to go back to sleep after classes taken at this studio is pretty awesome. That's how great the instructors are. Please do not change, Purvelo.

I was in town for one weekend and wanted to try the studio and they kindly offer a complimentary free first class. I came for an early Sunday morning class and was greeted with very kind staff members happy to help or answer questions. The class itself was different than I expected, but still an overall great workout. They are very Soul Cycle like with the combinations of upper body crunches and push ups style dance moves, which was the one draw back for me. I am more into the hardcore HIIT style bike work outs and am not coordinated enough to mix in the crunches and moves along with fast cycling. The instructor, Robyn, was great and very energetic and kept the energy high the entire class. Overall I would come back to this studio to try a different classes and instructors!
