I personally enjoy the yin and gentle classes, but occasionally try the warm classes which are so nice in winter! Each teacher brings something unique in their energy to class as well as sometimes using oracle cards, singing bowls, candles, aromatherapy, foam support strips, etc. I love it! The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with no hint of competition here. Also I always find something fun and useful in their gift shop to try!

Anyway, here's my attempt at giving a concise overview of all these classes have done for me. When I signed up for class the first day, I was terrified. First off, I had never been to a studio-type class before. Second, I was in a year-long process of recovering from a nasty case of sciatica where I had shooting pain from my low back all the way down the back of my leg to my heal. And when I say nasty, I mean wicked god-awful nasty. At a certain point, age 24, I was using the scooters that they had in Fred Meyer to shop for groceries because I would be in so much pain that I'd literally collapse to the floor if I walked for more than 10 minutes at a time. After about a year of at-home yoga videos from YouTube, I decided to go to my first class. And, look. I had made some pretty okay recovery by then. But I was still in constant pain. I don't know how to say this without being dramatic or cheesy, but that first class changed my life. I came in not even able to hold a plank. Period. Like, not even for two seconds. And now (on good days, of course!) I can hold one for a full 90 seconds. With pretty decent form, too! But I always find myself showing off to my friends: Look what I did in Pure Barre today! It's insane! For that kind of progress--I've gotta say--I would not be able to do it on my own. It took a team of helpful instructors who I know genuinely care about me to get there. Sometimes even going out of their way to give one-on-one instruction. And can I just say, they're all super body positive, too?! I was genuinely worried because, when I started, I definitely was purchasing my clothes from the plus-size section. Never have I ever felt like they were looking at me differently because of my size NOR have I felt like they've ever made weight loss seem like something I SHOULD be doing. I have though. Over 40 pounds. But that was never ever their focus. Their priorities have always been getting stronger--on taking that 45min to 1hr to work on yourself And I love how they leave those intentions, what working on yourself means, to the individual. Oh. Also. You might be thinking, "Wow. That girl with sciatica was okay in this workout. Sounds like it might be boring." Which haha. No. Pure Barre has never gotten easier. I've found that the more my body is capable of, the more I can push it. Now, nearly 300 classes later, I still get sore after class. And, I know that I'm not the only person who thinks this, but I genuinely think it gets harder the more I do it. I'm always finding new muscles to work. New ways to dig deeper. New ways to push harder. Nah. I really believe that this is a workout for a large variety of body types. If you're even thinking of going, at least try it. It may be a bit pricey, but it's the best money I have EVER spent. Plus, idk if I'm supposed to say this..but they'll let you have a free week to try it out. In which case, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!! The first class is always awkward. Let yourself really figure out if it's right for you.

What turned a routine cancellation into a negative experience was not the existence of policies, but the way the situation was handled. Communication was delayed, dismissive, and unhelpful, and reasonable questions about options or accommodations were repeatedly met with deflection rather than engagement. The studio owner's public response to this review further illustrates the issue. Instead of addressing concerns about communication and professionalism, it speculates about my motives, references my class bookings, and characterizes me as attempting to "take advantage" of a promotion. That framing is inaccurate and unnecessary. I was willing to adhere to the terms of the agreement and downgraded my membership in good faith when my schedule changed. The issue was never avoiding obligations -- it was the lack of respectful, straightforward communication. Publicly calling out individual customers by name and assigning intent, rather than resolving matters privately and professionally, is concerning. This experience felt far removed from the community-focused, supportive environment the brand promotes and instead reflected rigid enforcement paired with poor customer care. Prospective members should read cancellation and downgrade terms very carefully and consider how issues are handled if circumstances change.

The equipment is better quality than you will find in other studios in our area. I especially appreciate that my one paid private or duo class each week gets me into mat classes at no extra charge. I can't recomment Reform highly enough.

Aside from begin close to home what brought me in was the class title, Beginners yoga. I have no idea what the different kinds of yoga are or what class names mean, this was perfect for someone new who doesn't know what they're doing - class descriptions are great but this name just made it easier to book for me. The class itself was challenging but I also was made to feel like I could take a break when needed and, that I didn't have to do everything. This was key, I felt encouraged and supported to do what felt right. I'm feeling it the day after but it's a good tired and sore, I earned this. Again, being new I had no idea what I was doing and I felt like the instructor, Sam, was excellent. Sam explained the positions in an easy to grasp manner, was attentive to all of us, and also showed us how poses progress and what they look like doing them in a more advanced manner. I thought this was the best part of the class, I was able to see what I should do, instructed in how to get into position and helped in doing the poses when I needed. And, I got to see some variations on poses. For me this kind of teaching works best, an explanation and a visual, and then progression. I cannot stress how comfortable I was made to feel asking questions and not being very good. I'd gone down a google rabbithole about yoga before going to class and almost talked myself out of going but I have to say the atmosphere of the studio, Sam's explanations of what to do, how to do it and getting into why really helped me let go of apprehensions and just be there in the moment. I really like how we got to center ourselves before we started doing anything and at the end of class we took time to center again as a way to end the session. I am looking forward to going back and highly recommend Roseway Yoga.

I came to Mandy after a few years of chronic hip and low back pain. I had been seeing chiropractors, a massage therapist, cranial sacral therapist and a physical therapist for many months, with only a little progress. I came to Body Mechanics after reading about Mandy's dual approach of energy work and Pilates. I knew that I was ready to gain strength, and also knew that many of my issues were energetic in nature (holding old energy patterns). Let's say that I had a good feeling about trying it out. My first session with Mandy left me buzzing from my toes to the top of my head. Her powerful energy work helped me to release a ton of tension just in that first session. In my time at Body Mechanics since then, I've gained a lot of strength, insight, and empowerment. It was the first work that I'd done where I felt like I was driving my own healing, as opposed to passively receiving healing (which certainly has a place!). The studio has a great vibe and I'm excited to try out the Pilates classes there and experience the other teachers...they all have great energy!
