Club Pilates in Hoboken was a blast to try out. I went on a Thursday for a 6:30 pm class. The class was an introductory class and everyone there was new to the class. The instructor Bonnie was incredibly helpful and energetic. The manager of the studio went over session packages for continuing classes and membership at the end of the session. Bonnie spoke in an audible tone, easy for everyone in the class to hear her. We were a decent group of people in terms of quantity; we were 7 people taking the class. The class was fun and informative. It was also a challenge as my first ever Pilates class experience. I enjoyed the class and learning about Pilates and the terms spoken. As a first timer, I didn't know any of the terminology used in Pilates. I was always curious about trying Pilates and I finally decided to give it a try. Pilates introductory class was well conducted. I would recommend club Pilates for anyone who is interested in learning about Pilates and starting a Pilates journey. 10/10 recommendation. read more

Pretty terrible experience at this Hoboken location. I enjoyed my intro class and was really motivated to do Pilates cause I was having postpartum back pain. But post the intro class the attention on posture etc mostly went away. There was maybe 1 instructor that was truly interested in helping. It's such big classes that and they move at their own fast pace and do not encourage you to ask questions. Some teachers are actually rude. The worst of All was the customer service. I Have never had such bad customer experience. If you were to miss a class due to a medical emergency forget about it. They don't ever take that into consideration and have zero empathy (even if you volunteer to show docs note). Not only that they charge you extra for missing that class. Their app does not work. Sometimes it sends a class reminder and sometimes it does not. If you book your classes at the beginning of the month you are in for a surprise as you may not get any reminder about the class. It definitely felt like a scam at the end of the day and I did not enjoy Pilates at all. read more

I joined Club Pilates in 2017 when the Hoboken studio opened. I immediately knew it was the place for me. I loved the new studio, the instructors, and how relaxed and stretched I felt after class. It quickly became an important of my lifestyle. I had major shoulder surgery in 2022 and needed to take a year off from Pilates for recovery and rehab. I resumed classes last year and continue to work on strength and mobility training at Pilates. Now, at age 68, and after 800+ classes, I'm stronger than ever before. I owe it all to Club Pilates. I've been interested in trying Pilates and sudden you started seeing ads for it in my area. (We all know how our phones listens to us). I saw an ad for a free Pilates class here and decided to try. First things first, the parking in Hoboken is atrocious. I foolishly thought I would be able to find some and was wrong. That led me to be late to my class. When I arrived I was quickly set up. I had to purchase the grip socks which they let you know in advance. I was surprised they were $22 lol. But it's a one time charge. All in all the info Pilates class was great. I felt like the instructor showed us a little taste of it. My only issue is the location of the studio. The nearby parking was $16 after 30 minutes. SIXTEEN! All in all I spent $40. It I were to take Pilates classes here weekly I can only imagine how much the parking would amount to. That is a big detractor from this place. I have been taking Pilates for three months now. I have back pain and spinal issues and it has been a great help and even an improvement over personal training. I have a fitness pass which specifically allows me to visit Club Pilates across its franchises. Today I scheduled for a class in Hoboken location using the app. I arrived 2 minutes before the class. When I arrived and at the moment the Club Pilates app was unable to connect with the internet. It's happened several times before. But when I arrived at the location the person at the desk told me she did not see my name on the class roster. I told her I signed up before leaving the house. She asked if I was a member. I told her I have a One Pass Select. She said I was only able to attend classes at my home location. I told her this had already been established in the pass when an LA Fitness told me I could not access multiple locations and I called One Pass to confirm. I was assured, as is stated on the One Pass site, that I could attend any franchise location of any fitness club listed on the site. I would just need to register. Kaylie told me that I needed to call my home location. I told her that the issue was not my contacting the home locations. I has already attended multiple Club Pilates locations. The issue was that she needed to register me as other locations had. She repeated that I needed to call the location. I repeated that she needed to register me. She told me she could not help me. I had already registered for 4 other locations in my city and one in a neighboring city. In all cases mentioning the clubs I had already visited. Each saying its expected to visit multiple clubs. One location asked that I sign a waiver not to visit it's sister franchise which was nearby and I signed off. But it was made clear I could visit any other franchise. Club Pilates policy on One Pass use had already been established on multiple occasions. At this point it became clear that she did not want me to join the class. It's a matter of you registering me with my One Pass ID all you need is the number. She said, Yes, that's what I have been asking you for the whole time. Which she had not. I said I have it ready. She said, give it to your home location. I asked her if she was the club owner. She said no. I asked her if she was the manager. She said she was the manager. At that time the I could hear the class begin. I asked her if the class had began. I know from other locations that the staff let people in the waiting area know if the class has started and its too late to join. She had not. It was clear to me she had not wanted me to join the class. I was the before the class start. She had stalled me to this moment that it was too late to attend. I said, "That's sad." Knowing the class was well underway and that she was making no attempt to let me know it was too late attend. I said to her, you just wasted my time. She dared me to repeat the statement and I did. I asked her was there any reason she did not want me to attend. She stood at salute and threw up the sign that is also the OKAY sign. Three fingers spread, pointer and thumb in a circle. WP. I said, Oh really, I know what that means. She said, Goodbye. I said, I'm just as Latina as you. to figure it out. she said. I didn't say anything about race. I said, but what you showed me is all about race. She said, Good-bye. I said I want to speak to the owner. She said the owner will agree with that as much as I do. I left. If the location chooses it's customers by complexion, family relation or by assigned race, they should have the guts to say so. Hang a sign on the door and post it on all social media presence. DO NOT COME HERE! It's unfortunate that I have to give this club such a poor review, given that I LOVE the classes. However, their customer service has left a HORRID taste in my mouth. I signed up for a ONE MONTH ONLY agreement. It was communicated to me multiple times that it was only ONE MONTH. However, on month later, I realized I had an additional charge from Club Pilates. I called them and they said that the person who signed me up for the agreement did an auto-renewing agreement. I was never made aware of this auto-renewal clause and asked for a refund. However, Club Pilates refused and threatened to send me to collections (which would impact my credit score) if I tried to get the money back. I understand that I agreed to a "purchase" of one month's worth of classes. I take responsibility for that. However, I purchased this over the phone so I didn't get to see the terms and conditions of the contract when I gave a verbal confirmation and it wasn't communicated to me it was auto-renewing. Additionally, I tried to work with them for solves as I do enjoy the classes (ex: not having this be billed now and I purchase an additional set of classes the following week, etc.) but they continuously came back aggressive. I was yelled at over the phone. I was threatened to be taken to collections and have that affect my credit score. I was told I was trying to steal "from a small business during this time", etc. All in all, I understand that Club Pilates - like other gyms in the area - are suffering during COVID and are in need of income / cash flow. However, to mislead customers by not informing them of important details of their contract in a play to get extra cash - is just plain unprofessional. And, it will only harm them in the long run as I was willing to be a long term customer and no longer will be. read more

Club Pilates in Hoboken is a great place to work out. It's located in a beautiful area of Hoboken, one block from the Hudson. It's such a pleasant walk to the club. There are four trainers in Hoboken that I workout with regularly. Bonnie is fantastic. She always comes to class prepared to teach. The routines vary from week to week. Bonnie ensures that her classes are challenging and effective; she always has her eye on her student's form. I take Suspend 1.5 and Cardio Sculpt 1.5 with her on Wednesdays, and then I go home and nap. Claudia teaches CP Reformer Flow 2 - I love that class, and I look forward to it all week. Claudia focuses on balance, strength, and breathing. We do much of the workout using the chair. What a great piece of equipment, but without the right trainer, it's just a wood and spring contraption. Claudia makes it challenging and with such enthusiasm. She is so personable and supportive. Claudia encourages her students to be confident, to try new movements, and to reach beyond the ordinary. She's great. Kristine is another terrific coach. I usually take Suspend 1.5 and CP Reformer Flow 1.5 with her. Kristine is a natural-born teacher. She will repeat a movement until she is confident that the class understands it. She watches for struggling individuals and works with them until she is confident the student can move forward. All in all, the classes are fun, effective, and worth every penny. People will always complain, but the classes always fill up, and people show up no matter what, through rain, snowstorms, or strong winds. I'm very happy with Club Pilates Hoboken. read more

I really like coming to this studio! The staff are very nice, the teachers are really knowledgeable and the studio is always clean. Classes vary on your ability so, if you are a beginner you can easily navigate the Club Pilates App and sign up for a level 1 class. Otherwise if you have been doing it for a while you can sign up for harder classes like a level 2.5. Having options is important to me. There a multiple classes you can sign up for like Reformer Flow or a Sculpt Class, and they even offer a cardio based Pilates class. 11/10 would recommend this place - and the prices are low for a Pilates class. read more

I was SO excited when I heard a Pilates studio was now located at the bottom of my building. Welp, unfortunately, I will never go back. All of the negative reviews on here are absolutely correct. Where to begin? Membership- Upon signing for a membership, they are EXTREMELY sales oriented. I have been to many different Pilates studios in town and in the city and that sales mentality just does not fly in the Pilates community. I came to have a great workout and relax, not feel like I have to dodge sales people upon arrival. When cancelling my membership- the woman at the front desk texted me and was not even using English "idk" "u" "k". What in the world?! Instructors- yikes. I end up pretty much doing my own thing because I (regretfully) got a membership and refused to not show up and waste my money. Very nice people but wow. They really need to do some revamping on the instructor side. Hours/Class schedule- same thing- they do not have enough classes for unlimited memberships. Love this new location in Hoboken! The studio is spacious, clean and very modern. I really enjoy coming here because of the great instructors. I take multiple classes every week with Grace, Claudia and Ashley. All of them are super experienced and passionate about teaching Pilates. I'm motivated to come every week because the instructors are so encouraging and they make sure I get a solid, fun workout every time. I saw a difference in my body after coming here regularly for couple weeks. Im definitely stronger, leaner, and more flexible. A great addition to uptown Hoboken and the shipyard! Definitely worth the trip from the downtown area. The interior is trendy clean and new. Doesn't smell like a gym- always a plus. To me this is the number one option for someone just starting their fitness journey and who doesn't know how or where to start. Don't be intimidated by the "Pilates" label. l would definitely encourage anyone thinking about it to give it try. Luckily they offer a free trial session! The classes are geared towards any fitness level. There's a lot of low impact class options. Absolutely zero judgement just smiles and encouragement! There's also more advanced classes available. I drive 20 minutes from Jersey City almost every day because I enjoy this studio so much (and JC is seriously lacking in Pilates studios). Every instructor has their own style which keeps things fresh and interesting! COVID-wise, they usually have you on every other reformer, which leaves a large space between each person, and they require masks at all times. Long time resident of Hoboken, mom, and active member of our vibrant community. I decided to freeze my account with Club Pilates due to the lack of safety at their location during the variant - I personally did not feel I could justify going in while my son was unvaxxed and parents and in-laws were vulnerable. I froze the account and wasn't able to inform them of when I would feel comfortable returning - they verbally shared they would honor that, but began charging me and now refuse to return my money. I asked them to kindly return the money that they charged my CC during this time as I haven't utilized their services and was unaware I was even reactivated. They declined, and within 24 hours, I received a phone call from the most aggressive debt collection agency: they said I needed to "pay up right away" my "outstanding balance of $1,198 and didn't I understand how gyms and gym memberships worked?!" You could not find a more offensive, rude, and utterly scary individual to call you on your personal cell phone, with your private banking information. Please make sure you know who these guys are and what they are capable of. I have overpaid this merchant nearly $500, but they are attempting to collect over $1K in addition to that amount, for god knows what, and trying to threaten and harass me with bad credit. Neither the debt collector nor Club Pilates has shared what any outstanding balance might remotely refer to (upon briefly searching the internet, I now see that this is the SOP of Club Pilates' management to intimidate clients). I get that small businesses have been hurt - my family has done its absolute best to support our friends and business owners during these trying times - however it is truly awful to think some are taking advantage and attempting to recoup funds by charging totally unsuspecting folks - I was a regular of this location during the time I was active, and they do not have 1 record of me having 1) made an appointment or 2) stepped foot in their facility in 4 months. Just feels bad to try to do the right thing by others and have a business owner do something so bad by me. You'll find I absolutely rarely post (generally only to praise our Hobo businesses!), so this is honestly an authentic attempt to help others out. The only thing the 1 star is for is for cleanliness and nice club appearance. My huge complaint is with the staff. The instructors were okay, Grace is great and very helpful, but the staff I refer to is management. I tried to cancel my membership via email as I could no longer attend the classes as I am moving. The next day I spoke with Darlin over the phone about canceling and he let me know that when the upcoming cycle start date occurred (which was about 10 days later) he would cancel it for me, as it was too early to cancel when we were speaking. The start date rolls around and I notice I get charged for another month, even though we had the conversation about it being cancelled. I call the club only to get spoken to in a condescending tone by Darlin, saying he would never have told me he would cancel the membership because I didn't give him 30 days advanced notice. Had I known it was 30 days noticed, there would be no issue, but he told me over the phone he would cancel it so of course I assume it would be canceled on the date we both spoke about. Darlin spoke to me over the phone AND in person in a smug and rude manner, smirking as he condescendingly said "I am very unhappy about this". He kept running his mouth so much that the owner Gregg had to interrupt and tell him to let him handle this. Gregg was professional and kind, but he hired an employee who has zero sense of customer service. I am severely disappointed with the whole situation and how it was handled. Needless to say I will not be returning to a place that has someone there who is so demeaning and cannot stay true to his word. read more

This review is long overdue since I witnessed the space being worked on prior to them moving in and attended a few sessions since their opening. I was excited to see another nearby class option within walking distance besides the Soul Cycle. The negative reviews complaining about "sales" conversations with staff are out of touch... this is a business: they are only able to stay open if people pay money for things. I never felt pushed, and the staff regularly asked if I was interested in a membership and of course pitched the packages theybare supposed to. Many gyms do this, and it is not uncommon. If you are not interested, all it takes is a polite "no thanks" but that's too much to ask from the Hobo's adult babies. Personally, I did not agree to a membership because I was relocating out of state and paying for individual sessions was more practical at the time. The other complaint about scarcity of classes is likely from adult babies that are incapable of planning ahead. Karen, I would say sorry that you have been inconvenienced by the need to look one or two weeks in advance - you know, like a responsible adult that manages their life. For those of us that know how to operate a calendar and make decisions in advance, it is possible to reserve a spot - but act quick because they do fill up if you sleep on it. This is reformer based, so know that ahead of time (does no one look things up online anymore?). As far as instructors, people will have their preferences and someone's style may not be what you are used to, or maybe it might be, or maybe keep an open mind and focus on doing what you can to get the most out of each movement. So, to the Chads out there with 1,000 years of reformer experience, my apologies that the other instructor you love so much is way better than the instructor you had here and so sad that they teach in another studio... I guess you can stop coming here and free up a spot to the other clients that are eager to take your entitled spot. Overall, I'd say check them out and see what you think. It could be a different workout to rotate into your current regimen. Keep in mind that actual human beings that have bad days and get tired like the rest of us work here trying earn their ability to pay their bills and put food on the table - they aren't your nanny accommodating your every rude request and complaint. Recently moved to NJ after going to a Club Pilates location in Dallas, Texas for 7 months prior. Naturally, I was hesitant about classes here compared to Texas, fearing I wouldn't be able to keep up with the other people in class. About 3 months in and I can say I am really seeing a solid and consistent improvement in how my body looks, and FEELS!!If you're new to the area, I recommend starting off with Level 1 classes, trying out the different instructors, and going from there. I'm so glad this opened up in Hoboken! There isn't a good reformer Pilates studio nearby so it's very exciting to finally have one. The facilities are beautiful! It's clean, bright, and the studio is huge. The staff is friendly and always helpful. The instructors are great! I've taken from Grace and Ashley, and I love their classes. They know how to make them challenging but also explain everything well and make sure everyone is safe and doing the exercises correctly. I really appreciate that. I've taken mat pilates before, but Club Pilates was my first experience with reformer and I'm never going back! Also, their memberships are a lot cheaper than most boutique fitness studios which is awesome for a young 20-something on her own! Could not be more disappointed with this studio. I've had lots of experience with Yoga and some with Pilates as well. It's a block from my home in Hoboken and I was very excited to excited to join. They are aggressive marketing themselves and with follow ups urging you to participate. BUT the instructors are awful. Completely bothered if you manage not to keep up perfectly with their "flow" and are not afraid to embarrass you in class - and in virtually empty classes. The opposite of "instruction". The 2nd time it happened I immediately cancelled my membership. It's EXACTLY the wrong way to make a new member feel. I was then told that I needed a 30 day advance notice to cancel and needed to basically pay for 50 days of "membership" because of the "timing" of my cancellation. So let us start with the fact that I have never written a review. I've never felt the need to because I've always luckily had pretty decent experiences, until now. This place is definitely sales oriented and a money pit. To say that I'm infuriated is an understatement... I have unlimited membership and haven't had time to attend any classes really the past month, since it is busy season at work and due to wedding prep/events. I let the staff know that I would like to cancel my membership. Well they inform me that they can cancel it for April's payment. It is February. This means I have to pay the unlimited membership fee in the middle of March again. THIS IS ABSURD. I haven't had time to come in, so it is not like I've been taking advantage of this "unlimited membership." And now they tell me I have to pay MARCH TOO? It's the middle of February, is this not adequate time? Other gyms do not require this much time! I have so many wedding fees. IS THIS A JOKE? BEWARE IF YOU SIGN A CONTRACT. I like the location and the facility but need to improve the quality of the instructors who will motivate, explain moves and what it's supposed to work out, help with form etc but I haven't seen that here. Also would like to see them mix up the instructors for the weekends and evenings. I've taken reformer Pilates (elsewhere, before moving here) consistently for 3+ years and loved it, yet I've tried numerous class types and instructors here at Club Pilates and I am very disappointed. Let me preface this - the equipment and facility is top notch (besides this weird column separating one reformer from the rest) and I think they have a lot of potential to be an amazing studio. The #1 problem - the instructors. I know it's fairly new and they may be sorting out kinks but they need a serious revamp of instructors. Most instructors I have taken classes with (except Julia, who was great) are impersonal, not motivational, sometimes almost robotic and at times come off condescending when making corrections or suggestions to your form. They often act as if because this is a new studio no one has any prior experience with reformer Pilates so their critique is just "after a while this will get better". I also have witnessed multiple times where the instructor forgets to remind the class to put down their head rest before bridges, which anyone with reformer experience knows is essential. That's just one example of the lack of attention and care that makes or breaks a class. This is so important because instructors can make or break your whole experience and influence how motivated you are to keep coming back, so I think this is extremely important and must be fixed. I'm hoping they will get enough feedback and adjust and change my mind while I am still locked in because I truly would love this to be an amazing studio. read more

I completely disagree with the other reviews. Club Pilates for the few weeks that I've been here has been such an incredible experience. From the second I came in for the Free Introductory Class that they offer they were very thorough and friendly. I had very little experience in Pilates, especially on a reformer prior to coming in so I was a little nervous but the salesperson that spoke to me before the Intro class reassured me that everything would be fine and to just make the instructor aware of any concerns I had, which I appreciated. By the end of the class I fell in love with it. The instructor Grace was so energetic and passionate during the class that I knew that I for sure wanted to sign up. I ended up doing the unlimited cause the price was right and a lot lower than other places in the area. I come in like 5-6x a week and I swear I become more and more obsessed every class. The instructors Ashley and Grace are my favorite. I highly recommend it :) read more

I joined a few months ago through a recommendation from friends, and I have to say I have not been disappointed! The staff and teachers are amazing. Very kwowledgeable, patient and extremely helpful. It often seems like you are getting a private session as the instructors take the time to explain each move and also offer corrections when you do not have the proper form etc. I come from a background of cardio, running and heavier weights so this is a nice change for me. The classes are challenging but low impact and I have seen some great results and definition. I started going to Club Pilates in September, and 4 months later I still look forward to coming to the classes. The studio is brand new, always clean, staff is friendly, and there are so many classes to choose from. So far, I haven't had an instructor I didn't like. The instructors are extremely informative and always make sure to ask if you have a prior injury and are happy to offer modifications if you need them.
