This is solely reviewing their onboarding process. It is really one I've never experienced with any kind of membership trial/onboarding process. I've been to multiple Pilates studios now and I thought I'd try this out. Relentless texting & calling when booking the first class! An email sure but 0 of the other Pilates studios would 1) call me 2) text me to call them 3) call me to confirm I want to come to class & then text me to confirm?? I ended up cancelling because I didn't want to be sucked into any conversation. Every Pilates studios I've been to I receive a welcome email with instructions & essentials, walk-in, work out & walk out. If this is the kind of communication you prefer, then I'm sure it's a great fit for you! read more

This is one of the best things I have done for myself, and I thank God I landed on this location in particular. After struggling with being motivated to exercise, I saw an ad on IG about a free intro class. Since the video had people using a machine (reformer), I thought I could do this more than yoga which is more unsupported. Also, I've tried at home vids before and I felt that I did not know the correct forms bec I did not have an instructor to notice and correct my positions. What encouraged me to try it out was after I filled out the free intro class form online, the person who called me seemed so nice and competent, even asking about any physical challenges I may have. At this point esp with a free class, there was no reason for me not to try it out! Bec of the person who called me, I felt they would understand such as if I had a hard time, etc. When I did the intro class with Mildraide (who soon became one of my favorites), I was shaking with some of the exercises, but she did not make me feel like a failure. She also greeted me with a genuine welcoming kind smile, so even if she has more of a drilling style, I did not feel intimidated. I left still pondering if I should do it, but what sold me was from that first class, I felt I could stand up taller, my limbs were more flexible, and I had a spring on my step. I am so glad one of their staff members, Cameron, convinced me because I have become healthier from doing pilates and always encourage my friends to try. This review is also for one of my other favorite instructors, Yulia, who's classically trained in pilates. Ever since I started taking her classes, I saw a big difference in the mirror and pictures and I am not so bloated and my shape is more defined. Honestly, that alone will make me keep on going, but I love the stress release and boost I get from exercising. I have since upgraded to 8 classes per month because my body started to crave the exercise. I almost want to gatekeep Yulia's class cause I never want to have to be on a waitlist, but I hope she will work at this location for a very long time. I am honestly impressed by the variety of exercises and how she knows how many reps are reasonable to expect per level. I since moved up to her level 1.5 bec I know it's appropriate to the level and won't leave me discouraged or incapable. She's very professional and never humiliates. The other instructors and staff are also great, particularly at this location. I think there is a special happy and caring feeling in this particular site, and whenever I have questions or need help about my account, I get really helpful responses. So all in all, this is just as excellent as a pilates club can be. read more

Management. They are just awful and dishonest. They don't care about their customers just the bottom dollar and what appears to be sales numbers. They would rather lose a longtime customer than honor what previous management told me. No accountability. They refuse to talk to the Better Business Bureau. No flexibility, no accountability, and no regard for loyal clients. Like others here, my experience started off positive but ended in frustration. After not using my membership for over a month, I asked to pause it while I was out of town. They refused, citing policy. So I canceled. That was on June 6, so I was surprised when a bill for another full month appeared on July 1 -- and insulted when a late-fee of $20 was added and they threatened to send the bill a collections agency. I called to explain that charging me $149 for July classes (that I didn't use) on top of the $129 I paid for June classes (that I also didn't use) was wrong, regardless of "terms and conditions" -- much less an excessive and unreasonable 30-day cancellation policy. There was no flexibility, no effort to work with me, and no recognition of the time and money I'd invested over the years. Instead, both the receptionist and the studio manager repeatedly offered to book me into more classes rather than actually address the issue -- a tone-deaf and impersonal response that, frankly, summed up the entire experience. read more

I will have completed 1000 classes in a few days . I started going to Club Pilates East Long Beach when they first opened about 7 years ago. Johnny Pinto was one of my first instructors . I immediately loved his style of teaching . He is thoughtful, concise and really made each and every class fun, and made everyone feel special , getting to know all of us , even if there was new faces all the time . Beyond that , Johnny's vast knowledge of knowing what, and how to teach was invaluable. I say "was" because he has changed studios , as a lot of the instructors have , and I really miss him I believe he"s retiring , however , if you get a chance to take a class with him before he leaves , do so! My experience started positive but ended negatively. Because of health issues, I had to cancel my membership. I had to call three times on three different days just to get someone on the phone. Also, in the last few months there have been new instructors hired and they teach in a militant style having you do push ups and sit ups on the floor. It was hard to avoid those experiences bc the classes are so full and the choices in classes slim. I love pilates for the reformer and equipment. If I want to do push ups and sit ups on the floor, I can do it at home or the gym. I'm not paying over $200 a month for a membership to barely use the equipment that is supposed to be used. read more

The staff and the instructors are amazing! I started my membership a month ago, and have had an amazing experience with the staff members and instructors! There's a few downfalls the fees get charged with for canceling after 12 hours of confirming a class. But it is difficult to get into a class if you don't booked a few days in advance. Classes become available last minute, which puts you in a bind if you live in downtown Long Beach. I was booked for a Thursday class that the instructor was a no show 2 out of 3 weeks. Things happen I get that. I've been a consistent client of this Club Pilates location for over two and a half years. There have been some recent changes causing the studio to go in a direction I dislike. My original favorite instructors have left. The ones that are still here are being told to "tone down" their instruction so all the classes are taught in the same manor. I am an avid Mildraide and Kelly client because they challenge my body to push harder than I naturally do and pay personal attention to our form to prevent injury. They are professionally hands-on with their clients when verbal instruction isn't clicking for the client. I have seen great results from their classes including weight loss, increased strength and decreased stress. My plantar fasciitis has completely gone away. They not only exercise my flexibility, and strength but also they keep my brain sharp and increase my heart rate by providing variety. Mildraide and Kelly put their personality into their instruction which lifts the energy of the class and makes it enjoyable. I did not feel like I benefited from today's 7:30am Reformer Flow 2 class. If they continue to be told to teach in this new way, I can see myself plateauing, becoming bored with the classes and leaving the studio. read more

This review is solely based off of the front desk. The last time I was at the studio was in March of this year. The day I went, it was raining and the class was full. I went in to the studio, and there was only one reformer left however, on the reformer, it had a bowl of rainwater. The ceiling had been leaking. The water from the ceiling kept dripping into the bowl. I went to the front desk and let them know that I would reschedule since there was no reformers available. There was a woman who was talking about me right in front of me as I was putting on my shoes, she kept saying "I don't know why she can't just use a reformer. It's there's nothing wrong. It's just water she can use it. I don't see the big deal." This interaction left a huge stain on my experience with the studio. They could have just apologized for the inconvenience and set up a make up class. I understand things happen and there's things out of managements control. The woman at the reception desk just handled the situation very poorly. I canceled my membership soon after this happened. Months later, I am still bitter about this experience. read more

Clean facility and kind, patient instructors. Also very accommodating when I called in to cancel due to sickness. They easily credited my account and was appreciative that I did not come in to class with symptoms. Instructors Ashley, Krissy, Bethany have been my overall favorites and have all been super nice and helpful. I have been attending for over a year now and highly recommend. Also, yes, there are waitlists for most classes but I have not had an issue getting in. There isn't enough time to explain the numerous reasons I love this studio but here are a few in no particular order: 1. The instructors are phenomenal and I love them all BUT they do not disappoint. They will take you to the next level by helping you achieve your fitness goals while providing one on one attention in a class setting. I do have my favorites, of course, and I will move my whole schedule around to get in their class. 2. There are 2 studios which means more classes and plenty of times slots to fit even the busiest schedules. From the crack of dawn to evening classes...they hold it down for you to succeed. Plus there is a user friendly app to help sign up for classes and keep your schedule on track. 3. This isn't your average reformer studio...there are various platforms to keep it interesting and challenge your body. Besides the various levels of reformer classes, the variety of classes keeps it interesting: Suspend (TRX), Sculpt (jumpboard), FIT (interval training), plus Restore and Center/Balance (stretching) are what's missing in your fitness routine and you can find it here. 3. The staff are the friendly and helpful....happy to cheer you on plus check you in. River is the fearless leader of this crew.... his energy is contagious and he has great hair. 4. Positivity, focus, strength, and peace are just few of the vibes you might pick up here. 5. Intro classes are free and plenty...only 30min and the best way to check it all out. After my partner dying this summer, I've been on a huge healing journey of discovery. I've always been a powerlifting/bodybuilding/hiit girly. And now I am ready for a new season because.....life is different now. I tried Pilates in hopes of slowing down and trying a new movement with my body. THIS PLACE IS GREAT FOR PEOPLE WHO ARENT BUSY. I have not been able to schedule 1 class. Every class is on "waitlist" for a week at a time. OVER THE PAST 2 months of trying to join a class when o know I can, there's just never time and the wait list is crazy. The girl on the phone justified it saying "there's an 80-90% chance you get in. .............:..after the death of my partners I'm looking for something I can 100% count on. They failed to mention how hard it is to book before signing up. They'll offer to book your class, but it's just help, not a guarantee. I run a new business as well and I just don't have time other than early early morning or late night. Even the times I could go are once again OVERBOOKED BYOND MEASURE. I bought a membership at Club Pilates and have just attended my 10th class. I have enjoyed each class in the three locations I have visited. I have taken classes with multiple instructors, each of whom had a very pleasant rapport with the clients/students. They each used explicit, clear instructions and came by to check form individually during class. I recommend Club Pilates highly! The general managers at PCH/Marina, Savannah, and at Club Pilates Lakewood were particularly helpful and informative, as were the instructors I have met. My friends and family members have all had positive experiences also. I would buy the unlimited package if I could! Sample a class. That's what I did. (I loved Pilates before the Lockdown of 2020 and have just recently gotten back into all of my three favorite class workouts: Pilates, Yoga and Rowing. I've been a member awhile and never felt the need to write a review. Until a few weeks ago I would've given the studio five stars. River, the GM is (was) the heart of the studio. He is always cheerful, kind and respectful all while managing what is truly two studios. I've heard many in the studio talking about missing River and wondering what's going on. I've been told he's selling memberships for yet another Rubin studio. We're all disappointed that River is not at our studio. The other problem now is that many great instructors are leaving. When booking classes it's disheartening to not see an instructor assigned or constant changes in the schedule. Hoping things improve and we see River again. read more

Wish I knew about East Long Beach Club Pilates (ELBCP) sooner. I would have let go of my gym membership. Since joining last July and during this pandemic, ELBCP has been a safe and fabulous experience. I'm especially enjoying the workout in an outdoor setting. Yeah 62 classes completed and counting! In three short months, I have gotten stronger, improved posture, feel toned and possess positive feelings of good health. Even got a sister compliment of a firm booty. Yes! I'm committed in the long-term to make Pilates my primary workout with a team of trained professionals! I greatly appreciate the experienced, enthusiastic and caring instructors like Ashley, Brianna, Cynthia, Joey and Julie. Each class that I took has been full. I know the instructors are observing their student's technique. With thought and care, my foot placement or body alignment is corrected, as well as been motivated to push myself to the next level. The unique teaching styles, exercise routine and challenges make every class a great workout session. The 50 minutes quickly goes by, but loving and reaping the benefits of a healthy dessert time to end class! The support staff, River, Katie and Emily, have always been friendly and helpful to book a class I have trouble completing on my phone. But most importantly, I am grateful for their diligent efforts to thoroughly clean the high touch areas on the Reformers after each class session to maintain client safety and cleanliness. I've been lifting weights for over 20 years -- I've done yoga, I'm a jogger, go hiking, etc...My girlfriend decided to join Club Pilates and asked me to join with her so I said why not? We thoroughly enjoy Julie's class a lot! She has a very calming voice and energy, and her verbal cues are exactly what I need to make sure I am doing things correctly. With all of the lifting I do my back and neck get a little stiff and the cervical/thoracic/lumbar decompression I get from these classes usually lasts me for a good 2-3 days afterward and it makes life so much more enjoyable! Who wants to walk around with stiffness all the time? One thing to note is that the classes fill up quickly so you should book well in advance on your phone so you are more likely to get into the classes you want. read more

I just quit Club Pilates Long Beach about a month ago. When I first signed up, I enjoyed it immensely especially Joey Navarrette's classes. Well, my fave instructor, Joey, had to cut back his classes a lot and I really did not care for any of the other instructors; I was paying $1908 a year for a whole lot of pilates classes that I didn't really care for. For about a year, I was feeling like I was not really getting my moneys worth. Then last month, they tries to raise my fee by $200 dollars. When I signed up, they told me that I was locked into the $1908 a year if I paid the entire amount up front each year. Buyer beware! The club is great, the instructors fantastic. The problem is trying to schedule a class. It seems that Club Pilates is over selling memberships and doesn't have enough instructors to teach them. They handle this by offering a waitlist. If you are flexible enough to drop everything at the last minute, this may work for you. It didn't work for me and I cancelled out of frustration. So beside loosing my remaining classes that I paid for, the assistant manager saw fit to charge me a penalty fee for early termination. I only terminated my membership because Club Pilates was unable to fulfill its duty to provide the service. Go figure. read more

I had preconceived notions of joining a club/studio/gym and I was prepared to hate it. I was pleasantly proven wrong. After one demo class I was hooked and signed up and joined. I can't tell you how much I love the vibe they foster here. The instructors and the members are fun, personable, and just generally kind. Regardless of what state of shape you're in, you feel welcomed and encouraged. Pilates has made a tremendous impact on my stress levels that running or cycling has never be able to do for me. I no longer need that 2nd cup of coffee at 3pm and my masseuse and chiropractor visits have been reduced to once a month. Their wide range of classes and hours keeps it interesting and challenging without over taxing my joints. The classes are small enough so that the instructors can pay close attention to your form, suggest modifications for injuries and abilities, or gently nudge you into accomplishing something you thought you couldn't do. I work 50-60 hours a week, while juggling a husband, two kids, and caring for my parents. Time for myself has to be carefully planned. The Club Pilates app to schedule classes and add to my calendar makes it a no brainer to squeeze workouts in. Nice place. Very clean. I've spent more time trying to schedule classes than I've actually attended. It's a constant case of being waitlisted. If you don't have much else going on in your life and are very flexible with your time it's worth it. If you'd like to schedule classes and not be waitlisted, I'd recommend somewhere else that has more availability. I'm still evaluating.... read more

Update 2: My experience has improved slightly, but it still sucks to be me, as I'm out $500. I was contacted by their owner and told basically that I didn't check my email enough to see I was going to be charged again. Then they told me they wanted to remind me they were already generous with me. They were, thanks club pilates I do appreciate that much. But they also told me in their system that I viewed the email(it's about $170/ month, I would have recalled)so I went digging to get in again. When I finally regained access, it turns out I was right, the emails from their company had all been unread since November. Still maintain that the communication was not "above and beyond and over-documented". As their "read" checking system apparently doesn't work and they didn't send me a text as they normally did when communicating. I also maintain that it was cagey behavior as what I was told over the phone wasn't correct, then when I texted in to remind their team I wanted to cancel, they switched up communication methods to one I had never used: email. What happened to the texts!? I had never communicated with them over email My account preferences DO have SMS Notifications checked for account notices and since I never got an SMS notification of this account notice, as per usual and my settings, you can see how I missed it. All in all, I definitely would not say they tried to actively cheat me out of my money, and they did give me a lot back. Still out of a huge chunk of money and comm was subpar. It honestly isn't a 5 star experience. Update : I called in to cancel over half a year ago, as I was moving away, and person on the phone(well call her Z) told me that they would charge me $15 a month for three months to hold my grandfathered price, and if I no longer wanted the membership, they would let me go. I thought, hey, this is kind of expensive if I'm not even going in to use the facilities, but whatever. I should have checked my credit card statements more closely. I called in and explained my situation to someone (let's say named A). That they never charged me a $15 fee like Z said when I originally called to cancel. A said they "pushed back" my monthly payments for 3 months as they "normally do" (wtf? This was NEVER mentioned to me over the phone or even as an option ever at my time at club pilates) yet I was only given 2 months (So the original over the phone cagey promise as WELL as the "typical pushback" she was using in her reasoning didn't even hold true.) Again, After 2 months they started charging me my full amount once again. That's right. $170/month. $500 and a few hellish months of life later I caught it and regret ever coming here. A informed me that I must always cancel my membership 30 days prior to billing, yet that completely contradicts what the lady on the phone told me. I was canceling??? So I have my theories. This reads like a cagey attempt to trick me into paying. Just upsell the customer to get them to forget you while they move on in life. Then, as opposed to your pitch of $15 per month, just stop charging the client altogether for a random amount of months. And when they complain, talk about this "pushing back the fees" for 3 months, which was not told to me over the phone. This is all crazy because I am not the kind of person to not follow back with directions. I was in calm state of mind, and in a quiet setting when I called in, and had a great conversation with the girl Z, explaining why I was cancelling. She tried to get me to stay and go to a different one, but I just don't have time(12 hour workdays) Some back story: I have alarms and calendar reminders in my phone for every deadline at work and home, bills, birthdays of friends and families, drs appointments, events, everything. I have reminders to call friends. To call my grandma. For my gosh darn period. I create separate calendars for different people in my life, for ceos and teams of people on projects I work on for MY JOB, so of course I would have reminders to call in and cancel subscriptions. I do! If I was told to cancel, I WOULD have. I was NOT told to do this. I called the first time because I WAS cancelling. Z originally said I would be charged one extra month (6 mos ago) because of my notice lying within the needed 30 days of notice. So I knew I'd have to pay for my last month after the notice. Then to require a SECOND thirty days notice? What the actual heck?! They did me 1 month of money back for the 1 month they admitted to "accidentally" cheating me in the "typical push back" of 3 months I had not heard of. I thought I had found a great place. I was wrong. Tricksters or inept. Not sure which. Watch your bills regardless. They don't know what they're doing and won't pay back my months of unused gym membership. I didn't even use it. I first attended a session after seeing a friend (Precious) looking so svelte! I asked her what she was doing and she said Club Pilates. I tried the free class and LOVED it! I thought, yes, I can do this! I started out strong but then work got very hectic. River worked with me and I was able to continue classes within my schedule. I'm so grateful! I feel wonderful after each class and everyone at Club Pilates is so nice and helpful so I don't feel like a dumb dumb when I forget how to do something or I can't follow directions because I'm not coordinated. I gave my 30 day cancellation notice to the person in charge and he denied i did. The business kept on charging me knowing that I cancelled. I was scammed me for 3 months. I should have asked for a legal document. Please be wise unlike me and make sure you get a legal document stating your cancellation I am super upset. Level set expectations before joining. This is not for beginners like me who don't even know what Pilates is (although now I do after reading Wikipedia). When I asked the instructor if there is a book or some brochure on the names of the moves so I could better understand and follow along, I was told go to You Tube. I probably will research more on the names for the moves so I can follow along better but my expectation as a customer would have been that instructors and coaches would teach the student or have a hand out with common moves and proper positions. So my only advice to anyone thinking of joining is to do your research first and maybe shop more before committing to three months of membership. Those are my lessons learned. Apparently, Pilates is supposed to be good for you in strengthening core muscles when done properly. My goal is to find the coach who can help me with that end goal towards fitness. Update with Positives: the club is clean and the people are nice and they equipment is still relatively new and kept maintained. After every session the members are given wipes to clean off their equipment and I find that very helpful and respectful for next members. I love this place. About 15 years ago while being footloose and fancy free living in LA, I took private pilates classes. Fast forward to me living in the LBC, married with kids and no time to workout. About a year ago, I see in my Facebook feed an ad for Club Pilates--group reformer classes. I clicked interested and the rest is history. The owner Alyssa reached out quickly and I was able to speak at the time. But when I called back, I reached Courtney. Super informative and answered all my questions. She invited me to a demo but I said not necessary. I asked what is the initial commitment--she stated 3 months. I got a perk for signing up that first conversation. The classes are fun--equal parts kick butt and relaxing (you are lying down a lot). There is variety--of instructors and types of classes. Do not buy a membership! To end a membership, you have to give 30 days written notice, so they will always take another payment after you are no longer able to go. They want money for nothing. Also, they have a perfectly good app - you should be able to cancel through the app. The only reason to require the 30 days written notice is to soak their customers. read more

This club is a wonderful addition to the community. Using the reformer is an intriguing way to work out and I've definitely found classes here that I enjoy. Any class taught by Asia will kick your butt and is worth the membership. Luci is also good. I will avoid the "flow" classes from now on because I've found that with certain instructors it is too much explaining and instructions and not enough workout. Instructors need to come around and help improve posture more often. Correct alignment is critical to avoiding injury. Lastly, one of the best motivators to making each class is the 12 hour cancellation fee of $15 if you don't show! read more

This is a great studio. The reformers are in fantastic shape. All of the instructors are knowledgeable and will make modifications as necessary. The app is easy to use. This is a very clean studio. read more
